Shahid Kapoor is confirmed to reprise the role of Vijay Devarakonda for the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy. The film is expected to hit the floors very soon. Even before the film started, the Bollywood actor has signed a new movie which might start simultaneously with the remake of Arjun Reddy.

This new movie is going to be based on the life of a professional boxer. The film focuses on the ups and downs that the boxer experienced in his life. Raja Krishna Menon who impressed with Airlift will direct this movie. Shahid Kapoor is undergoing the training in boxing for his role in the movie. The regular shoot of the film will begin from December.

Shahid is currently busy with Butty Gul Meter Chalu which also has Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautham.

Shahid Kapoor who is riding high with the success of the film Padmaavat is now all set to begin his new movie in Hindi. The film is said to be the remake of the film Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Devarakonda in the lead role. Sandeep Reddy Vanga is confirmed as the director of the movie. Wish us luck guys.” Sandeep Reddy also announced the project on his Facebook and wrote, “Its official today. My second film is with Shahid kapoor. Produced by Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde Cine1Studios.”

Shahid Kapoor’s last offering Padmaavat fetched him immense accolades for his subtle yet powerful role as Maharawal Ratan Singh. As per latest reports, Shahid will be conferred with the honorable Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his performance in the movie.

When speaking about his role as the Rajput King in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical epic, Shahid expressed his happiness with the kind of response he has received. He said, “Honestly, it’s not the most author-backed role in the film. So taking up such a role and getting appreciations for that, is an amazing moment.”

Apart from Shahid, Ranveer Singh will also be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his stupendous portrayal as the ruthless and barbaric Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati.

On the work front, Shahid is currently shooting for his upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu which also stars Shraddha Kapoor opposite him.

According to reports, the India release of Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds has been pushed to April 20 from its initial date of March 23. Produced By Zee Studios and Namah Pictures, the film marks the debut of its lead performers, Malavika Mohanan and Ishaan Khatter, the younger brother of Shahid Kapoor. It also Majidi’s first Indian production.

Zee Studios business head Sujay Kutty said in a press statement that the India release date had been changed so that the film could get a simultaneous worldwide release. Beyond The Clouds traces the relationship between two siblings against the backdrop of Mumbai’s slums. Co-written by Majidi and Mehran Kashani, Beyond The Clouds also features Gautam Ghose, GV Sharada, Dhwani Rajesh, Amruta Santosh Thakur and Shivam Pujari. Vishal Bharadwaj assisted on the Hindi dialogue of the film.

The film was premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2017 and was also screened at International Film Festival of India, Goa, in November.

The latest buzz around the Hindi remake of the Arjun Reddy is that Shahid Kapoor will be playing the lead in the movie and not Ranveer Singh, as it was being speculated earlier.

A source close to the unit, “Director Sandeep Vanga was on board for the Hindi version of the film, since he owns the copyrights of all the remakes. For reasons best known to him, he wanted Ranveer Singh to play Arjun Reddy. But after Padmavati, Ranveer is voluntarily off-limits for dark characters. So Sandeep then went to Ranveer’s Padmavati co-star Shahid Kapoor for whom the role of the doped, drugged, drunken doctor Devdas would be an antithetical change after the noble royalty in Padmavati.”

Arjun Reddy is the story of a philandering, alcoholic, drug-addict who also happens to be a surgeon who falls in love with an innocent medical student. Vijay Deverakonda essayed the role of the protagonist in the original movie, and his performance was appreciated by the audience and critics alike.

Kapoor would reportedly require a lot of preparation for the role which includes losing eight to nine kilograms so that his frame looks ‘gaunt and drugged’. Kapoor would also have to learn how to snort cocaine and inject himself with uppers and stimulants.

Being no rookie to the drug-addict portrayal, Kapoor has previously essayed a similar character in his 2016 film Udta Punjab.

After the blockbuster success of the blockbuster film ‘Baahubali 2’, no other film has managed to reach its set records. The Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali collected a total of 512 crores, and despite big releases like ‘Raees’ and ‘Tubelight,’ that number is yet to be surpassed.

However, the upcoming highly anticipated movies – Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Padmavati’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ – are expected at-least go near the record.

It is scheduled to hit the screens in December this year along with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ which is a sequel to 2012 spy thriller ‘Ek Tha Tiger.’

Both films are releasing in December which marks the year end, can either of these two touch Baahubali 2 is a still big question. This is the last chance for Bollywood to beat Baahubali-2 in 2017.

The alleged lovebirds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been storming the internet with their photos and gossips. This has irked a top director in Bollywood.

Going into the details, the ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is directing a classic called Padmavati which will be in the lines of Bajirao Mastani. According to him, the leads Ranvir and Deepika have no dialogues between them in the movie so they can be only seen talking with expressions in this flick. So he wanted them to be under low profile as long as this movie is in production. Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider came 3 years ago with a fantastic screenplay but a debatable content on Kashmir and a possibly biased view. This time his content is not debatable and sticks to being on the patriotic side. Though it’s portrayed primarily as a love triangle, it is one of the weakest aspects of the film. In fact what stands out is the Vishal Bharadwaj portrayal of the Firangs and the rich and the poor during 1940s in the period when Mahatma was taking the Ahmisa path while Subhash Chandra Bose believed in war.

The movie has not three but four major characters. The fourth is a British General named David (Richard McCabe ) who is an astute leader not the typical ones we have ever seen before. This man can even recite Shayaris and Muhavras. He even sings a Hindi song with a harmonium. He is trying his best to save the losing grip of British Empire and a villain to the Indian National Army led by Netaji.

Rustom Billumoria fondly called as Rusi played by Saif belongs to a Parsi affluent family who run a studio in Mumbai. Rusi is a shadow puppet of the Firangs. Rusi is a pure businessman.

Rusi’s fiancé is Julia whom Rusi had bought when she was 14 years. Julia was a nomad, a banjaran and a bastard. Rusi makes her an action star and she is a popular figure in the industry. Julia is happy with the money and stardom and in fact doesn’t want the British to leave the country, living in her own world. All is well until Julia is made to perform a show and Nawab is assigned her bodyguard. Nawab is a soldier in the British Indian Army. A bomb blast happens and what events take place forms the rest of story. Of course there is a triangle love story that emerges, but the proceedings with respect to the spying by Azad E Hind and the patriotism that surfaces grabs the eyeballs.

The best parts of the film are some of the dialogues by Vishal Bhardwaj and the premise they have chosen. It’s probably the first time this part of the movement was covered in such a big scale. The technical aspects of the film are first-rate.

The biggest drawback of the film is the love story that hardly evoked any emotion. The first half is at a snail pace and boring in most of the parts. Kangana made the role too comical making the essence of love lost. Said stuck to his role and was the best of three. Shahid was subtle but not upto the mark. On the screenplay side, the scene Kangana rescuing Shahid looked utmost ridiculous, thanks to the overtly funny portrayal of Julia. Just because Kangana has a good comic timing doesn’t mean it can still be Ok overshadowing what’s Julia all about. The sudden transformation of Rusi in the end also seemed unconvincing. However, the climax is very ego satisfying. The second half of Rangoon is top rate, on contrary to the ineffective and mundane first half.

Rangoon might not be the best of Vishal Bhardwaj, but definitely worth a watch.

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor was on Friday served notices by the BMC after his neighbor and National award winning actress Vidya Balan was diagnosed with dengue.

BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) served notices to Shahid after he failed to prevent breeding of mosquitoes that cause dengue inside the swimming pool in his apartment on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai. Notice has been served to him under section 382 of the BMC Act, and he might have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.

During the surveillance drive, the BMC’s insecticide department found dengue causing mosquitoes breeding in the unused swimming pool in Shahid Kapoor’s apartment, which is on the ground floor of the apartment that Vidya Balan also lives in.

Meanwhile, Vidya Balan has reportedly been put under observation.

Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for making large than life epic films, is all set to bring another historical story on to the silver screen.

Titled ‘Padmavati’, the film explores the historical story of a royal queen. Bhansali’s lucky charm Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play the titular role. There is scope for two heroes in this film, and Ranveer Singh has reportedly been signed for one of them.

To play the role of Padmavati’s husband, Shah Rukh Khan was approached, but the idea was soon dropped after king Khan quoted a mammoth Rs 90 Cr remunerations.

Bhansali has reportedly signed Shahid Kapoor. No official announcement has been made yet but Shahid, Ranveer, and Deepika are heard to have been confirmed.

The project will soon go on floors, and it will be made on a budget of Rs 150 Cr.
