The Me Too movement in Kollywood is gaining momentum. So many film celebrities have already opened up about the horrific experiences they faced. Singer Chinmayi, actress Sruthi Hariharan, director Leena etc have made some serious sexual misconduct allegations on Kollywood biggies.

But some of the popular stars from Kollywood are going against them. Recently, senior director and actor RV Udayakumar made some sensational comments. He stated that the law itself gave permission for relationships between two men or two women or a man and woman then how is it wrong when lyricist Vairamuthu wanted a woman. On this note, the South Indian Artistes’ Association or Nadigar Sangam came out to solve the issue. It has announced that it will set up an Internal Complaints Committee of sexual harassment allegations against members of the Tamil film industry as part of the #MeToo movement.

Nadigar Sangam President Nasser, Treasurer Karthi and General Secretary and President of KFPC and actor Vishal participated in the event and reportedly took some vital decisions regarding the Me Too movement and are going to announce them soon.

Sri Reddy who initiated the discussions on casting couch in Telugu film industry is now making noise in Kollywood. The latest update is that Sri Reddy will be meeting Nadigar Sangam officials regarding casting couch issue. There is a rumour that Nadigar Sangam is planning to send a legal notice to Sri Reddy and in this context, her present meeting garnered a lot of attention.

Popular Tamil actor Radha Ravi filed contempt of court petition against Vishal in the court and for the investigation of the same, Madra High Court has ordered Vishal to attend the court. Vishal and his team have won Nadigar Sangam elections last time and they have said that they are going to take action against the previous committee members Sharath Kumar and others who are said to have connections with corruption. Radha Ravi filed a petition against the same in the court and the court ordered an investigation. Vishal promised that they will not take any action on them until the court investigation is completed.

But, Radha Ravi’s Nadigar Sangam membership has been cancelled which is considered as a contempt of court. The case has come to the hearing on Wednesday and the Judge MM Sundaresh has made a new decision. While Vishal’s advocates requested more time for giving their explanation, the judge rejected the same and ordered Vishal to attend the court at any cost on 19th of this month.

There is a cold war happening in Nadigar Sangam right now. Actor Ponvannan who is the vice president of Nadigar Sangam has submitted his resignation to the association. Vishal and his team have contested in the elections after alleging that Sarath Kumar was involved in the corruption.

Vishal won in the Producers Council and Nadigar Sangam elections, but a controversy popped up after Vishal decided to contest for RK Nagar constituency. Producers like Raadhika, T Rajender, and few others have demanded for his resignation and the council members also informed the same to Vishal.

Nadigar Sangam is one of the powerful film associations in South India and the association is located in Chennai. The association comes up with the announcement of cricket matches every time and the event was a grand success last year. The association met media on Sunday to announce that the upcoming edition of the Star cricket league will take place in Malaysia along with a Star Night program.

With the hiked rates and the implementation of GST, it has become a problem for the local association to conduct the events as the costs are high. The association collectively took a decision to shift the venue. At the press meet that took place on Sunday, the other key members of the association were also participated and discussed several problems that they are facing. The association expressed the happiness that all the star heroes gave their consent for the star cricket league to be held in January next year.

Tamil comedian Karunas, who was elected as the Vice President of the Nadigar Sangam in the recent elections, said that he will soon resign to the post.

Karunas took this decision after he was elected as an MLA in the recently held Tamil Nadu Assembly polls. As he found to manage the two positions a herculean task, he has decided to continue as a full time politician by resigning to Nadigar Sangam.

He added that he has resolved many of the issues of Sangam during his short tenure. He reminded how he toured the villages ahead of the elections to know the issues of people and how he conducted the celebrity cricket league to raise funds for the construction of Sangam building.

Karunas added that he will work for welfare of the people of his constituency with the same vigor from now on wards.

National award winning Tamil actor Bobby Simha, who is all over the news in Tamil Nadu with his latest political thriller ‘Ko 2’ doing good business, has written a letter of complaint to Nadigar Sangam.

Bobby Simha complained that a certain production house is portraying him as the hero of a film titled “Meera Jakirathai” in which he hasn’t acted in the first place. The advertisements for the said movie have been floating around with Bobby Simha’s stills from his earlier film ‘Urumeen.’

The actor has denied any connection with the films, and he has also stated that he has never met the director, producer or the heroine of the film. He added that someone is trying to malign his image. In the letter, he requested the Nadigar Sangam to take action against those people.

Tamil star hero Surya has announced that he will act for free in the film to be produced by Nadigar Sangam to raise funds.

Sangam members like Karthi and Vishal have already stated that they will act for free in this film, which is being made to raise funds for the construction of the office building. Even though celeb cricket tournament was organized recently for the same purpose, we heard that it did not raise funds as per expectations. Surya had participated in cricket tourney as well.

Surya’s science fiction thriller ‘24’ is all set to hit screens on May 6. Directed by Vikram Kumar of ‘Manam’ fame, the film stars Samantha and Nithya Menen as leading ladies. Surya will be seen in three different roles including the role of villain Athreya in this film.

Speaking at the recently held celebrity cricket tournament at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai by the Nadigar Sangam to raise funds for the construction of the Nadigar Sangam building, superstar Rajinikanth called for unity among the actors.

However, the cricket tournament has now brought cracks in the sangam it seems. Even though leading stars like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Vishal and others including many Telugu and Kannada stars took part in the tourney, popular Tamil film stars like Ajith and Vijay didn’t participate voluntarily.

Radhika, her husband Sharatkumar, Simbu, etc. were not even invited by the team of Vishal and Karthi. Annoyed with all these happenings, Simbu, who lost in the Nadigar Sangam polls, withdrew his membership from Sangam.

Simbu alleged that the Sangam didn’t support him when he was facing issues and he was also not happy with the way tourney was conducted.

The celebrity cricket tournament also called Nakshatra Cricket, conducted by the Nadigar Sangam aka the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) was held on April 17 at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

8 teams led by star heroes took part in the event held to raise funds for the construction of Sangam’s new building. The trophy was won by Suriya’s Chennai Singams.

Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Shivaraj Kumar,Nivin Pauly and many others from neighboring film industries graced the event which had Kollywood celebrities in full attendance.Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan inaugurated the event. Rajinikanth appealed to everyone to stay united irrespective of hailing from different film industries.

Now, Kollywood’s influential body Nadigar Sangam is scheduling an exclusive film stars cricket tournament which will begin from April 17. This event is planned in a grand scale with nearly 48 actors participating in it and Superstar Rajinikanth as well as Kamal Hassan will be attending it.

Interestingly, Megastar Chiranjeevi as well as Big B will be attending as chief guests for this star studded Cricket Match. The tournament is knockout based with six matches in total. However, the TV rights of the event are already sold for staggering amount of Rs. 9 crore!
