Tollywood film industry opened the count with the movie NTR Kathanayakudu this year. The films Petta, Vinaya Vidheya Rama, and F2 followed after that. Recently, Akhil’s Mr. Majnu also hit the theatres.

Along with few small films, a total of 8 movies hit the screens this month and when we are expecting that the same pace will be followed for the coming month, it is not going to happen.

There are very few releases in the month of February. Yatra and NTR Mahanayakudu are the two Telugu films that confirmed the release dates. Dev is the dubbing film that is hitting the screens. Nikhil’s Mudra was supposed to release in February but there is no clarity on the film’s release.

In February, Tollywood is not going to look colorful with multiple films putting the ticket windows ringing.

Cinema is often considered to be a male-dominated industry, where heroes are treated as demi-gods and go on to star in leading roles long after their 30s. However, the same isn’t the case for the actresses. Many a times, their role in films is limited to a song-and-dance sequence, and once they are older, not even that.

In Tollywood, there are many women-oriented films which pushed the boundaries of Indian Cinema to the next level. Films such as: Arundhathi, Rudhramadevi, Osey Ramulamma, Jyothi Lakshmi and to name a few enhanced Telugu Cinema range and remains as blockbuster hits.

Actresses like Anushka, Vijayashanti, Vijay Nirmala, Savitri, Kanchana Mala won many laurels for their extraordinary acting skills in women oriented flicks especially. However, there are a few films that gave some of the leading actresses’ lots of scope to perform. These films gained critical acclaim as well good box office collections. On the occasion of Women’s Day, we wish a very a happy women’s day to all.

Sensational star Sudheer Babu made his debut in Bollywood and impressed everyone there when he played the negative lead in the film Bhaagi. Since then, he could not find any offers in Hindi. At the same time, the actor has not signed any film in Telugu too. Now, the latest buzz reveals that Sudheer Babu wanted to make big in Bollywood film industry but unfortunately he was given more character roles that the roles he is looking for.

The way he is putting efforts to grab roles in Bollywood can be transferred to Tollywood so that he can grow more here in Telugu. This is what everyone is telling out. He was supposed to act in the remake of a Telugu film, but the film was called off. More details about his career would be out soon.

Four movies released for ‘Sankranthi’ season and movie lovers were quite excited with the clash. Another clash is imminent in February as three movies are lined up to release on same day.

Earlier, makers used to refrain from clashes but the clash of four films for this Sankranthi festival gave huge confidence to all. Since all four films got decent collections at the box office, makers understood that any number of films can be released simultaneously if the content is good. Now, three films are set to clash on February 5.

Sunil’s family entertainer ‘Krishnashtami’ produced by Dil Raju, Bellamkonda Sreenivas’s second film ‘Speedunnodu’ and Nani’s ‘Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gatha’ are the three movies to clash at the ticket window.

After scoring a super hit with ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’, Nani’s romantic entertainer ‘Krishna Gadi Veera Premagadha’ has a huge advantage among the three.

Telugu Films are made on huge star cast and a big budget. The producers and directors of those respective films take a lot of care and efforts during the shooting and release of the film. Although there put in such money and security to protect their film, people still manage to leak to and put it online.

Such films in Telugu Cinema are many. Let us go through few films that were partly or completely got leaked even before its original release and still managed to become a hit.

1. Shankar Dada MBBS (2004):

 

Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s much appreciated ‘Shankar Dada MBBS’ is directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee. This film is a remake of Bollywood super hit film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. This film was leaked even before its release in theatres.

Even though the film got leaked before release, it still managed to become a blockbuster post release.

2. Maghadeera (2009):

S.S.Rajamouli’s socio-fantasy film Magadheera is all praised for its story narration and visual effects. This film that broke all the records till then in Telugu Cinema was also a victim for leaks. The film in its initial stage saw few photographs and small video clips being leaked. The makers of the film thought that such leaked parts may affect the final output of the film. But, Magadheera stood quite opposite to what they thought and registered a huge hit.

3. Attarintiki Daredi(2013):

Power star Pawan Kalyan’s much talked about film “Attarintiki Daredi” was leaked online before the official release. Directed by Trivikram and featuring Samantha in the lead role, Attarintiki Daredi first half was leaked online many days before its official release. However, the film did well at the box office, and the performance by Pawan Kalyan was much appreciated.

4. Baahubali (2015):

Another S.S.Rajamouli’s film “Baahubali” saw a 12-minute leak of the film. In this leak, there were few action scenes in which Prabhas and Rana were seen in a war sequence. In spite of the particular video leak, the very same scene in the film was appreciated after its release. “Baahubali” is now one of the India’s biggest blockbuster films.

These were few films that got leaked even before the original film released and still managed to become super hits at the box-office.

If one wants to make a film and make it hit at the box office, one needs stars or at least recognizable faces. Bu there is only one genre in which hits can easily come without recognizable faces and it is horror. Story and premise are the important aspects for this genre and that’s why we see number of small films in this genre getting released these days. Here is another.

Titled ‘Mid Night 12 O’clock – A Horror Love Story’, it is a horror comedy directed by Pramod Rao Shirbhate. Said to be a musical horror love story, shooting of this film has already completed and the post production works are in full swing. It has been made in Hindi and Marathi with Abhishekh Chauhan and Rohit Rajput in lead roles.

In the movie, a ghost marries a girl and after the first night, strange things happen in the house. It is set to release in September 2015.

King Nagarjuna shared his future plans with the media on the occasion of his birthday. He stated that a debutant director Kalyan will be directing his upcoming film. As per the sources, Nagarjuna will be donning double role in this venture and one of the heroines for this flick will be Ramya Krishna.

There were several films for Nagarjuna in the past with Ramya Krishna. “Hello Brothers” and “Chitraleka” are few among them and now, this combination is getting ready to hit the screens again. Adding to this, Nagarjuna stated that Akkineni Family will be celebrating ANR awards grandly on 28th September.

It seems that this flick will come under village backdrop. Soon after this venture, Nagarjuna will be shifting his focus towards Vamsi Paidipally’s upcoming directional venture. Jr.NTR is a part of this film. Nagarjuna and Jr.NTR will be acting in lead role in this multi-starrer venture.

Few days back, Puri Jaganath’s statements that he won’t work with Pawan Kalyan again, created sensation in Tollywood. Soon after “Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu”, Puri Jaganath posted those comments in his micro blogging site. Later on, they went viral and people started investigating on that aspect.

Finally, some misunderstanding between Puri and Pawan drove the director to write that statement on the micro blogging site. Recently, one more buzz raised in the media that Puri got some differences with Jr.NTR. In the past, there is a buzz in the media that Puri Jaganath is getting issues with few other top actors in Tollywood.

In spite of delivering top rated flicks in Tollywood, “Why Puri is facing problems with top heroes in the present scenario?” turned out to be the point. Hot heroine Trisha Krishnan is now in this position. It is known that this beauty has been selected for Balakrishna’s upcoming venture. Apart from this flick, this lady has no other big flick in hand. It is a noted fact that Trisha Krishnan is the one who introduced the tattoo culture in South India.

The tattoo on her body turned out to be a hit long time back. Later on, few more actresses followed this trend. The list is too big and in recent, Tamanna came up with a tattoo on her body for a song in “Alludu Seenu”. This trend got immense success but this actress was left with no offers in hand.

Hope Balakrishna comes to the rescue of Trisha Krishnan. There is a buzz in the media that Trisha has approached Pawan Kalyan for a role in “Gabbar Singh 2”. If this turns true, there are chances for this beauty to soar high in South India once again!

Accidents in film shootings turned more common, these days. In previous days, we used to hear about accidents quite rarely. Recently, “Power” team encountered high quotient fire accident in its sets. On the other hand, Gunasekhar’s “Rudramadevi” too was struck in an accident in the recent times.

Few more flicks in the recent past encountered accidents. “Why exactly, these accidents are happening?” turned out to be the point to analyze. The thing is that the films in Tollywood are raising themselves to a new standard with respect to stunts. These stunts are hitting directly on the risk factor.

Almost all the accidents which happened in the recent times are due to the spine shivering stunt sequences. In Bollywood, this aspect is common and now it is becoming the same in Tollywood. Hope, Tollywood film makers takes necessary actions to avoid accidents.

That’s right, he completely refused to pay. You might be wondering ‘what’ at this point. The answer is – the toll money for one of the roads he was travelling by! And no, the actor was not being a cheapskate or putting on airs, but taking a stand against what he felt was an unfair system.

The actor was travelling through the Kumbalam toll plaza in Ernakulam when he got severely irritated by the situation. Upon approaching the toll booth, he simply said that he was not going to pay. Of course, this did not sit well with the attendants there and they questioned him as to his reasons.

Jayasurya, in a rather dramatic fashion, responded that he was not going to pay any money for the toll until the road there was repaired!

And as anyone who has travelled through those parts will testify, the condition of the roads there is simply horrific and makes life incredibly hard for motorists. A common situation though in God’s Own Country and rarely, if ever, brought to the spotlight.

Well, not time like the present, the actor must have thought…

Soon the argument between the young star and the tollbooth workers escalated into a heated one and passersby and other drivers began to take notice. A crowd soon gathered, which upon hearing the actor’s side of the argument took his side and in a real life ‘hero moment’ Jayasurya caused a group movement of people refusing to pay their tolls as well.

This, one thinks, would have tied the hands of the tollbooth workers as, let’s face it, they really don’t have a justifiable excuse to put forward here.

So once again the talented actor has proven that a social conscience and the will to back it up need not just remain things that appear only on our onscreen flicks but can be useful in real life too.

It seems that this star hero took 5 years training in all the above mentioned aspects. After finalizing that this actor is fit enough for debut, Bellamkonda Suresh introduced him to the industry. Hence, another training house similar to Mega Camp is being developed in Tollywood.

Isha Talwar, who is touted as one of the most beautiful newcomers, is waiting with bated breath to know the result of her second film, “Maine Pyaar Kiya“. Speaking to a prominent media house,she shared her choice of heroes for her coming films. Isha Talwar’s choice of actors..

“I find Mahesh most handsome and have watched many of his flicks including Dookudu. Ram Charan is also one I want to work with. He has done a Bollywood film too which is an added plus. Bunny is another super hero, who is also a fantabulous dancer. I am certainly looking to work with all big actors in Tollywood. But these are on the top of my list. Let’s hope for the best :)”, said Isha.

What the lady doesn’t know is that these biggies of Tollywood do not pick newcomers to star with them until they’re exceptionally gorgeous and talented. Going by the way her career is progressing, we’re sure that she’ll soon land a role in these actors’ projects.

Jr. NTR‘s arrogance has been the talk of the town ever since he made his debut in Tollywood.

The ones who know him personally have always gone on the record to say how arrogant he is! While there are some who constantly criticise his arrogance, there are others who take his side and never fail to defend him.

“He’s just too honest. Whatever he feels in his heart, he says it. If some people call it arrogance, so be it. He doesn’t care about people who are not close to him. But those who he adores, will always tell you how sweet he is. He’s a thorough gentleman,” says a source close to the actor.

In a first, Jr. NTR’s arrogance will be seen on screen.

Puri Jagannath, who is known have powerful,over-confident and arrogant protagonists in his movies will be showing Jr. NTR in his usual arrogant self in his next film.

The star would be shown as an courageous though arrogant cop, who does not bother about the existing system and its rules and practices.

His co-star of two films who’ll also be seen with Jr. NTR in Puri Jagannath’s next, says, “Yeah people do think that he is arrogant. But i feel he is honest. His honesty is often misunderstood to be arrogance.”

And if rumours are anything to go by, then titles such as ‘Mental’ and ‘Temper’ are being considered for this movie.

Well, only time will tell if this movie can live up to the hype given that Jr. NTR’s ‘Rabhasa’ first look did not perform as expected.

Nivin Pauly has had perhaps the most successful career among the newcomers in Mollywood, in recent years. What started off as a mere ‘good reception’ from the fans in his debut flick Malarvadi Arts Club, has since gone on to become huge successes like Thattathin Marayathu, 1983, Om Shanthi Oshana and now the biggest one of them all – Bangalore Days!

Yeah, the movie features an ensemble cast with Dulquer, Nazriya, Fahadh and Parvathy Menon in the leads too but Nivin does stand out in the flick for his rather uniquely crafted character and moments of comedic genius, to many fans.

Now, the fandom of this block buster in particular spans across age groups, sensibilities and language barriers too it seems, with the movie running in packed cinema halls in multiple states! So warm has been the reception by the non Malayali crowds that they have added English subtitles to the movie now, and boy oh boy, did that work out well…
Anjali Menon must have done a lot of things right to be where she is right now – on cloud nine of course! Surely no female director has created such a sensation and that too with only her second film.

Getting back to our very own Nivin Pauly – the actor obviously has gained even more admirers with this flick than before, and it looks like some of them are from the film fraternity itself!

Yes, as the congrats from veterans and stars kept pouring in, for the entire Bangalore Days team and its very talented young cast, one stood out in particular – a message from Telugu superstar Allu Arjun’s brother Allu Sirish. Here’s what he posted on his social media page:

“Watched this sweet breezy Malayalam film – Bangalore Days. The whole cast was superb, but Nivin Pauly is my pick from the lot. I like these coming-of-age films Malayalam cinema is churning out : like Ustad hotel, Neram, ABCD, Neelakasam & now Bangalore Days. ”

Obviously Anjali Menon deserves a second congrats for that message, as Usthad Hotel too was her film, and more than that it marked the debut of Dulquer Salman.

Funnily enough, Usthad Hotel is referred to in the Bangalore Days trailer itself; a tip of the hat to the hardcore fans right there.

Bangalore Days has also broken the records for the first weekend collections for a Malayalam film, and the days to come will tell us how far this refreshingly entertaining flick will go – will it end up breaking the record, or rather records, set by the megahit Mohanlal starrer Drishyam?

Soon after the special screening of ‘Manam’, Mahesh declared the “Manam”, the family entertainer, as an outstanding film and congratulated the entire team especially the director Vikram Kumar for his ‘out of the box idea’. He claimed that his heart fills up with joy when such character-driven plots work at the Box Office.

Mahesh was most impressed with the way in which this complex story was narrated on screen.

And now,if rumours are anything to by, Director Vikram Kumarr and Prince Mahesh Babu will soon be working on a project together.

An official confirmation to this piece of news is awaited.

Reportedly. the director had also given a script to Mahesh Babu which he really liked.

And if things go as planned, then the film will be launched sometime next year, after Mahesh Babu finishes his work on Koratala Siva’s movie.

Well, here’s hoping that the film turns out to be as entertaining as “Manam” and Mahesh’s earlier entertainers.

Mahesh Babu is currently busy shooting for Srrenu Vaitla’s “Aagadu” opposite Tamanna.
