Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee was blessed with a baby girl today. She, who married Yash Raj Films head Aditya Chopra, has named their baby as Adira. The baby girl was born today morning at around 8am-8:30am at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

The baby girl was given the name Adira after the starting letters of her parents Aditya and Rani. Rani and Aditya Chopra, who had for long been in a relationship, married in April 2014 in Italy. They are both accomplished in their fields of acting and filmmaking in Bollywood. Adira is the couple’s first child.

Aditya’s younger brother Uday announced the birth of his niece on Twitter saying “It’s a Girl” while the couple’s close friend and filmmaker Karan Johar shared “Am an uncle to a beautiful baby girl today!!! Rani and Adi had a baby girl!!”

Rani Mukherjee, who is pregnant and is eagerly waiting for her first child along with husband Aditya Chopra, was recently admitted into the hospital after feeling sick while participating in the Diwali celebrations.

The Spoke person of Rani Mukherjee quoted “Rani Mukerji was admitted to a hospital as the doctor felt she needed to rest for a few days under medical supervision. She was being discharged but chose to rest it the hospital for a few more days as the baby’s room is being prepared at home and she wanted to be away from the dust and noise. She is perfectly fine, and all is well.”

Yes, it’s official. The long-time couple rumoured to be serious with each other, actress Rani Mukherji and producer Aditya Chopra finally tied the knot on Monday, at a private ceremony in Italy.

A statement was released to this effect by Yash Raj Films, stating that two were hitched in a wedding that was small and intimate affair.

“We are happy to announce that Mr Aditya Chopra and Ms Rani Mukherji got married last night on 21st April in Italy. The wedding was a small intimate affair with very close family and friends” the statement read.

Rani Mukherji, who had always kept her private life private never opened up about her relationship with Aditya Chopra, despite the ongoing strong speculation. She expressed her happiness via another statement to her fans. “I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all my fans all over the world whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian countryside with just a few of our close family and friends with us. The one person I missed terribly was Yash Uncle, but I know he was there with us in spirit and his love and blessings will always be with Adi and me. I have always believed in fairy-tales and with God’s grace my life has been exactly like one, and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life – the fairy-tale continues.”
