Anjali, who is popular for her role as ‘Seetha’ in ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’, has done only few films but she is more popular for her alleged personal affairs. Insiders say that she has not learned from her mistakes and is continuing her bad reputation with media. Despite her career is going on smoothly in Tollywood, it is heard that Kollywood media has decided to boycott her for her recent actions.

Going into the detail, Anjali’s latest Tamil film ‘Sakalakala Vallabhan’ starring Jayam Ravi in lead role is slated for release soon. When a pressmeet was arranged for the promotions of this film, Anjali not only attended late, but also has spent most of the time talking on her phone. She didn’t even care for media when she was asked for photoshoot after the press meet. Angered Kollywood media, has decided to boycott her and not cover her stories.

Well, what can you say about the actress Anjali that hasn’t already been said by gossip magazines for months now. Controversial? You betcha! Stubborn? Absolutely. Beautiful? No doubt there as well.

So then is it true that the actress opted to have cosmetic surgery recently? Her nose to be exact, the sources say, has been ‘corrected’. Well, that’s the news that has sprung up out of nowhere now and needless to say people were not surprised, given the actress’s news worthy life in the recent past.

Anjali though has quite clearly and vehemently denied it. She argues that she has no ‘need’ for plastic surgery or cosmetic enhancements. Now there we agree, but then where did the news originate?

Who knows.. but one thing’s for sure, there’s hardly ever smoke without at least a small fire some place.

Anjali is currently starring in a film opposite Jayam Ravi, after creating much bru ha ha in the industry for not completing director Mu Kalanjiyam’s film Oor Sutri Poranem.

The producers association, which sided with the director/producer that the actress should finish her portions of the film or compensate Kalanjiyam for his considerable financial losses, had banned the actress, in a manner of speaking, from working until she sorted it out.

But in a move that upset the status quo, she started working in the Jayam Ravi starrer, and the producers and Kalanjiyam are not too thrilled about it.

They had threatened legal action earlier but the actress had remained adamant. It now remains to be seen how things will play out.

But definitely, cosmetic surgery amidst all of this does seem a bit extravagant or needless, and maybe the actress is right and the news is baseless. Either way, in the end, the fans certainly won’t complain if she looks prettier than before..

The controversy surrounding Anjali and the problem with director Mu Kalanjiyam doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon for one simple reason – neither parties are backing down any!

It almost looked last week like Kalanjiyam got his way after all, when the producers association banned Anjali from working in Kollywood until she completed Kalanjiyam’s film Ooru Sutri Poranam, which she disappeared from over a year ago.

The association even wrote letters to the the producer’s organizations in the other industries in the south asking them not to employ Anjali until she fulfilled her commitment to the director who had allegedly suffered serious financial losses because of all this. Kalanjiyam was also producing the film.

The alternative, as far as they were concerned, was that Anjali pay back the director/producer the amount he lost as the result of the incomplete project.

Anjali, meanwhile, has been arguing that it’s not her fault and would not even give the director or the association some face time to discuss some sort of a deal. She has, stubbornly or righteously, maintained that it was not her fault that situation turned out the way it did and Kalanjiyam was to blame for the whole thing.

The standoff between the two has now been interrupted by a metaphoric shot fired – by Anjali!

She has started filming for her next film and that too in Tamil, opposite Jayam Ravi, in a yet untitled project directed by Suraaj. You can imagine the protests being raised by the producers and others in the industry!

The film, by the way is reported to be, quite ironically, a laugh riot of a entertainer.

Suraaj is known for his action masala films like Padikkathavan and Mappilai. The comedy would be a departure from the norm for him too, although it is unclear at this point how concerned he is about the rising voices from within the industry regarding his choice in casting Anjali.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see how things play out now. Although, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be boring.

Sigh.. since when did movie making become as dramatic as the movie itself?

A few weeks ago, the fight between actress Anjali and director Mu Kalanjiyam took centre stage in the entertainment media with both refusing to back down and the situation ending up tenser than ever.

Here’s the situation:

Kalanjiyam had signed Anjali for his film Oor Sutri Poranam almost a year ago, but the actress had left the shoot after just 10 days of shooting and had since gone on to do other projects. Kalanjiyam had meanwhile landed in trouble with his financiers as he had not been able to finish his film (which he was also producing), and he had suffered financial losses, running up a debt of around Rs 1 crore.

Kalanjiyam claims he just needed Anjali to stay another 20 days to finish shooting her portions of the flick for him to complete the whole project. So he served Anjali with an ultimatum that she finish his movie first before doing any other work or else he would take her to court.

Anjali had lashed out against this threat from the director and had said that nobody can stop the shooting of her films. She was, at this point, all set to do a Kannada film opposite Puneet Rajkumar.

Now, things have taken a more dramatic turn as the Producers Guild of Tamil Nadu have spoken up, and its General Secretary, Jaguar Thangam, has written a letter to the producers unions of the Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu film industries asking them to not let Anjali do any other work until she finishes Kalanjiyam’s movie!

Anjali, however, seems unwilling to do this as she has reservations about working with the temperamental director again, and to this the Producer’s Guild has replied that they are willing to provide security for the actress throughout the shoot, if necessary.

In either case, they say, Anjali cannot sign up for a movie and then say she is not interested; and if she does feel that way, she has to pay the producer for any and all losses suffered by him because of her.

Now we wait for Anjali’s final response though it doesn’t look like she has much of a choice left anymore if she plans to continue her career as an actor. So it seems, in the end, quite possibly, Mu Kalanjiyam did get the last laugh after all…

The tension between actress Anjali and director Mu Kalanjiyam has gotten even worse now with both making statements against one another through the media. I guess the intent would be to get the people (or maybe just the right people) on your side, and if that is the case, Anjali is gaining with her restraintful confidence and more.. shall we say, ‘composed’ attitude.

Apparently, Kalanjiyam signed Anjali for his film Oor Suttri Poranam almost a year ago and the actress had to leave after 10 days of shooting for other commitments – now this Anjali claims was made worse by the director’s ‘actions’ and not hers.

Now, Kalanjiyam, who says he is heavily under debt for the movie which he was also producing, has been put in a tough position because he can’t even face his financiers now as the amount owed is almost Rs 1 crore. If Anjali had given him 20 days more to complete the film, he says he could have avoided this whole problem and so the actress is to be blamed for his situation.

But that’s not all of it – what has actually enraged the director more is the fact that Anjali has been acting in other films since then – in Telugu and Kannada – so he has given her the ultimatum of either finishing his movie first before acting in any other project or he will take her to court on legal grounds of breaking contractual obligations.

The indignant and outraged director even pointed out someone irrelevant to the situation as an example – Nayanthara! He said Anjali should take cues from Nayanthara on professionalism as she is working with actor Simbu even though they have a rough personal history!

And what does Anjali have to say to all this?

“I am problem free now and am not scared anymore,” says the actress, “I just finished working on my Telugu project and am now going to work with Puneet Rajkumar in a Kannada film. While I have no problems fulfilling my obligations, no one can stop my the shooting of my films.”

Kalanjiyam had complained about the situation to many film associations without avail, and Anjali says her friends in the industry understand the problem and side with her.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the days to come – will the director end up taking the actress to court?
