Now this is unexpected news indeed and will be quite the change of pace for the Singham star! If the reports are to be believed, Suriya will be teaming up with none other than director Pandiraj for this film in the works.

Pandiraj is a film maker who has a well recorded and successful history with kids films as his very first venture, Pasanga, was an epic hit and even got the young actors in the film two national awards for Best Child Artistes!

According to sources, Suriya will not just be playing a pivotal role in this flick but has faith in the subject matter enough to be producing it. Yes, the actor is rumoured to be producing the film under the banner of his company 2d Entertainment.

Suriya’s Anjaan is releasing this August 15 and the actor is currently busy with that. And Pandiraj is at present in the midst of finishing up the Simbu – Nayanatara starrer Idhu Namma Aalu.

Idhu Namma Aalu marks the reuniting of Silamabarasan and Nayanatara on screen after almost 8 years. This factor has given the movie a lot of hype by itself, and Pandiraj seems more than willing to use it for the film’s betterment.

To do this, he has apparently filmed some candid shots of Nayanatara talking to Simbu over the phone and such, and he intends to use it in one of the song sequences – or so the sources say.

The film’s music has been scored by Simbu’s brother and newcomer in to the field, Kuralarasan, and he has roped in Yuvan Shankar Raja to sing a romantic song with a western touch. The producer of the movie is the father of the star, T Rajendar himself.

The Suriya – Pandiraj project is expected to launch sometime soon after both of their current engagements wrap up.

Surya – Samantha starrer gangster genre action flick Anjaan, directed by Lingusamy, is by far one of the most anticipated films this year and the proof is that most of the rights of the movie – overseas and several regional ones – have been sold even before its audio launch!

The international rights of the movie, which is being produced by Lingusamy under the banner of his own company Thiruppathi Brothers in association with UTV Motion Pictures, were sold to Yahaya Bhai of the United India Exports for a humongous price, according to the reports.

The regional rights of the movie have been grabbed too – which includes all three other south Indian branches of the fraternity – Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

The Telugu rights were bought by Lagadapati Sridhar, who is the brother of Lagadapati Rajagopal, and the proposed name for the Telugu dubbed version is Sikandar.

The film’s makers have, however, decided to not start the rights sale in sections of Tamil Nadu until after the audio launch of the flick. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the tunes for this one, and given everything else that’s going on with the project they are expected to be chart topping numbers as per the usual.

The cast of the film, which holds the added attraction of Surya in dual roles and the extra surprise of a more glamorous Samantha, also has veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpai and others like Vidyut Jamwal, Rajpal Yadav and Dalip Tahil in the mix.

The Tamil movie, ‘Anjaan’, has been in the news for quite some time now.

The biggest reason for the buzz around the movie is that the movie will bring together two of the most desirable people in the country, Surya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu on screen for the first time.

The release date of ‘Anjaan’ has been kept as 15th August for two reasons. First, the day marks the 67th Independence Day of India and second, the theme of the movie has a patriotic background which will suit the occasion.

The film makers would also like to make use of holiday to boost their collections.

The final schedule of the movie is nearing completion and the post-production work of the film shall begin soon.

‘Anjaan’ will feature Surya on a never-seen-before avatar. Samantha will be seen in her usual glamorous avatar in the film.

The film is being directed Lingusamy, with Cinematography by Santhosh Sivan. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for this film.

Manju Warrier’s return has been one of the biggest successes in Mollywood history; the actress’s personal comeback saga coupled with the acclaim the movie has received, sky rocketing the actress’s career graph to new heights.

It has been rumored that Manju has been approached with or offered nearly 25 projects in multiple south Indian industries and the actress herself has confirmed a couple of these to the media and her growing fandom.

The leading lady of Malayalam has already signed up for a Telugu film with Nani and says she might even do a Tamil flick with none other than superstar Surya!

In fact, most of the roles reported to have been offered to Manju are in movies with some of the biggest names in the industry, including a film with Telugu star Nagarjuna.

It seems every couple of days now, we hear new rumors of flicks with the actress’s name on the marquee, and this indicates just how much the fans want to see her on the big screen.

News has been spreading that Manju has replaced Amala Paul in the Joshiy movie Laila O Laila, which also stars Mohanlal – this of course, sending the hardcore Manju – Mohanlal fans in to a frenzy.

Recently, rumors surfaced that veteran director Priyadarshan was about to retire from the film industry due to the lack of success that has been haunting him lately but they turned out to be not true. In fact, Priyadarshan has given quite a reply to those allegations – yes, reports indicate that he is planning to make two movies, one starring Fahad Fazil and the other starring Surya!

Of course, the Fahad one is a Malayalam project while the Kollywood venture will star Surya.

Priyadarshan has had quite a rollercoaster of a track record with some iconic films and some unexpected flops that disappointed the fans, but now he seems ready to get back in the game, so to speak, by choosing ‘unique’ stars for each project.

His choice in Tamil is the talented and versatile Surya who can pull of characters with substance as well as rock a masala flick in his trademark style. This raises questions as to what kind of movie the legendary director has in mind, considering his last venture in Tamil was Kanchivaram (2008) which won the Best Film and got the lead actor Prakash Raj the Best Actor title at the 55th National Film Awards.

Is Priyadarshan looking to repeat history with a moving drama or is he going for an entertainer with mass appeal? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

In Malayalam, he has chosen Fahad Fazil, the young and sensational actor who has a proven box office value and has also just won the state award for Best Actor.

Of course, Priyadarshan and Fahad’s father, veteran director Fazil are old friends and in fact, it was Fazil who produced Priyadarshan’s hit Mohanlal starrer comedy Chandralekha.

Priyadarshan and Mohanlal duo have delivered some classics and the combination with Fahad looks intriguing with regard to the potential for brilliant and engaging cinema.

Kareena Kapoor created quite a mess for herself last week when she said that she didn’t know who actor Surya was. She was responding to media questions about the rumours that she is doing an item number in Surya’s upcoming movie Anjaan.

The actress responded haughtily and stated, “I don’t know where such baseless stories come from. I haven’t signed any such film. I don’t even know who Surya and Linguswamy are. I’ve never seen them. I’ve zero interest in acting in non-Hindi films whether it is down South or in Hollywood.”

This, of course, hurt the sentiments of the millions of Surya fans and they made themselves heard through the actress’s social media pages.

Now, Kareena has stepped forward to clear up the chain of misunderstandings that began with the April fool’s story about her working in Anjaan that spread like wildfire.

“When I said I don’t know Surya, what I meant was that I haven’t seen him face to face. Of course I know of him. He is one of the biggest stars in the Tamil industry and I have deep respect for his standing in the business. In fact, I’m doing the Hindi sequel of Singham, which Surya made originally in Tamil.”

Thus, one hopes, ends the week long furore caused by a mistaken spoof story and a few careless words.

Recently, an online April Fools story broke out on the net, which said that actress Kareena Kapoor would do an item number in Kollywood’s own Surya’s Anjaan. This story was reported as real news item mistakenly by many sites and this seems to have annoyed the actress.

When asked by the media, she replied that she had no plans to do any work in non – Hindi industries because of the language barrier and she had no idea who Surya or N. Linguswamy was.

This seems to have hurt the sentiments of the millions belonging to the fan community of the Ghajini star, who have expressed their anger on the actress’s social media pages.

To be fair, however, Kareena also added that she loves the movies being made in the south and even in Marathi and Bengali. It’s just her policy not to do movies in languages she doesn’t understand.

“I had to turn down Rituparna Ghosh’s movie in Bengali for the same reason regrettably.” Said Kareena.

The Mollywood movie Twenty 20 (2008) made history with an ensemble cast which included, literally, every big name in the industry. The epic movie was produced by actor Dileep and directed by Joshiy.

Now, there is a rumour out there that maybe too good to be true. Hold on to your seats – Kollywood maybe remaking the movie with its own all star cast!

And by all stars, we really mean them all – Vijay, Ajith, Surya, Dhanush and Simbhu. Even Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth may appear in a song sequence together. And the female cast would also include pretty much every known starlet in the industry.

Sounds too good to be true? Maybe – maybe not. Kollywood is said to have been inspired by the success of the Mollywood version and its legacy. It is even rumoured that following the success of Jilla, Mohanlal himself may also appear in an important role in the movie.

If this does turn out to be the real thing, we can certainly expect that it’s going to take some time and some even bigger pockets.
