Banjara Hills police have registered domestic harassment case against ace director Sreenu Vaitla for harassing and assaulting his wife, Roopa.

As per police report, Sreenu Vaitla’s wife Santoshi Rupa approached the Banjara Hills police on 15th October alleging that her husband assaulted her after an altercation. Following the assault, Rupa left their house at Journalist’s Colony and went to live with her parents at Yousufguda.

Police registered a case against Sreenu Vaitla under IPC section 498-A, based on the complaint lodged by Rupa. However, on 16th October, Rupa, through her advocate, filed a petition expressing her desire to withdraw the case. After counseling the couple, police will decide about the future course of action.

Sreenu Vaitla married to costume designer Roopa over a decade ago, and they have three daughters. They spotted together in many events, and she also designed costumes for several Sreenu Vaitla’s movies.

South Superstar Rajinikanth filed a case in Madras High Court against a Bollywood film titled “Main Hoon Rajinikanth”. Actor claims that his name is being misused and also claims that movie makers of Main Hoon Rajinikanth did not seek his permission. The case posted for hearing on 22nd of this month.

The film is written and directed by Faisal Saif and produced by Mrs.Saroj under the banner of Varsha Production House. Adithya Menon and Kavita Radheshyam playing the main lead roles in the film. The movie supposed to release on 5th of this month but not released. Now with the new issue the movie release will be delayed.

After hitting the headlines with series of controversial tweets, Ram Gopal Varma finally encountered tough time with the cases. He was recently involved in 5 Crores cheating case which was filed by Lotus Allied Mediamatics, a production house which helped RGV during the making of “Satya 2”.

As per the complaint, Ram Gopal Varma made a deal of around 5 Crores with this production house for finance related aspect and finally turned down the plate after the completion of the film. It seems that this production house got Rs.2.5 Crores in the form of a cheque and later on it didn’t get anything from the director.

It seems that RGV is not even responding to the phone calls and even if he responds, he is reportedly threatening them saying that he has good contacts with underworld dons. Finally cheating case has been registered on RGV and the case is on progress.

In shocking news, a criminal case has been filed against actress Rambha in the Banjara Hills police station, Hyderabad. But that’s not just the shocking part – the case has been filed against her by someone in her own family!

Yes folks, it is the actress’s own sister in law, Pallavi, who has filed the case. And guess what the charges are? Dowry harassment!

Pallavi is claiming that she has been continuously harassed by her husband, Rambha’s brother, demanding her for more dowry. And she also accuses the parents of her husband and his sister, Rambha, of supporting him in this pursuit of more dowry and his actions to get it.

Dowry has been banned by the Government of India for ages now and it is a very serious offence to ask a woman for dowry or for the woman’s family to give it. Any violation of this carries with it severe repercussions including a huge fine and a prison sentence! So you can imagine the penalties for harassing someone for dowry, which is even more severe, because that also adds women’s rights issues with an existing violation of the law.

Though in our country, many people still ask for and receive dowry, it goes unreported and is a national secret of sorts. The high rates of women who are emotionally and sometimes physically abused by their in laws because of the dowry issue is deplorable indeed.

So it comes as a matter of shame that educated people, who enjoy a high status in society too adhere to such an outdated, cruel and illegal tradition out of what could only be interpreted as pure greed.

It is unclear at this point exactly what kind of harassment Pallavi was subjected to. According to the law, however, the police must take swift action and that will almost probably include arrests being made.

My, my, a sad day for Rambha fans too, one supposes..

Now this is a development nobody saw coming! In startling news, Ekta Kapoor has filed a lawsuit against the makers of the Malayalam version of the super hit movie Drishyam, as that version was the ‘original’ one to be made.

What’s the lawsuit about, you ask?

Well, there’s a Japanese book called The Devotion of Suspect X, written by an author by the name of Keigo Higaashino, which has quite a cult following. And seeing the potential there and being the very able film and television producer and businesswoman she is, Ekta had bought the film rights for this book.

However, it turns out that the movie Drishyam maybe an unofficial, unauthorised adaptation of this book and quite possibly the writers of the flick borrowed heavily from it to formulate the plot of the movie.

Apparently, on hearing these rumours somewhere, Ekta’s team watched the movie and found many similarities between the literary creation and the film version. This alone would be grounds for a lawsuit as there has been an infringement of property rights against Ekta who shelled out money to make a movie based on the book on her own.

But what has happened here, that’s all the more damging to the interests of Ekta, is that the Malayalam movie was so successful that it got remade in to Kannada and Telugu too and both have been successes!

To make matters worse, the Tamil version of the film just launched with director Jeethu Joseph, who directed the original, at the helm and none other than Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan playing the lead role essayed by Mohanlal in the Malayalam version!

Kamal’s presence would make the already much talked about movie a pretty huge deal in Kollywood and it would also mean a far wider audience for the flick perhaps.

So if indeed the facts of the case as reported by the sources are true, Ekta is in quite a pickle and is hoping to get a settlement or compensation perhaps from the Malayalam producers of the movie, though this is just speculation at this juncture.

Salman Khan might be enjoying the appreciation that he is receiving for his upcoming film ‘Kick’ but legal troubles have started haunting him again. Salman Khan appeared in court today morning for the hearing of hit-and-run case of 2002. Two witnesses have identified the actor. Salman Khan In Serious Trouble!

A witness identified Salman and said he saw him getting out of the car after the accident.

Second witness, a bar owner also testified in court saying that drinks were served at the table occupied by Salman and his friends on the night of the hit-and-run.

Three eyewitnesses had reportedly testified before the court and identified the actor, last month. Salman was seen by these two witnesses getting out of his car on that day.

Salman Khan could face prison up to 10 years if convicted.

On May 6, one of the prosecution witnesses identified him as the person who had exited from car in a drunk state and escaped from the mishap site.

The actor is accused of culpabale homicide not amounting to murder after he drove his SUV on to a pavement in Bandra, killing one person and leaving four injured.

The charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder attracts a 10-year sentence.

Only time will tell if the actor will be declared guilty. For now, Salman Khan In Serious Trouble!

A pretty serious police complaint has been filed against national award winner Suraj Venjaaramoodu in connection with an alleged land grabbing incident – and the complaint has been filed by none other than the ex manager of the actor, one Mr Rajesh.

Rajesh has asked the police to hold a vigilance enquiry in to Suraj’s alleged connection with the ‘blade mafia’ !
Here’s what has happened according to Rajesh:

He had borrowed an amount of around Rs 3 lacs from the actor before, with the documents of his property as security.

Though he later returned the money, he says Suraj refused to hand over the property documents and instead asked Rajesh to sign them over to Sabu Khan, an aide of Suraj.

Rajesh, reportedly, had to flee to Thiruvananthapuram, fearing the ‘blade mafia’ who are based in Aluva, Ernakulam.
But that’s not all – he also claims that he was threatened by Suraj and his people to do as he was told ‘or else’…
Rajesh also wants the vigilance enquiry to look in to the many supposedly shady and possibly illegal land dealings the actor has had in the past.

Now, this is a shocking turn of events indeed. Suraj, who is beloved by the Malayali fans, hasn’t responded to the media regarding these allegations and we do not know yet how the police are going about with their investigation.

In any case, it looks like this could be a troubling legal nightmare for the actor whose recent national award win has skyrocketed his career graph. We will only know in the days to come if there is any truth behind these accusations levelled at the comedic actor and if there is, to what extent?

The ‘bad boy’ of Tollywood is back in the news!

A case has been filed against Actor Ram Charan for allegedly putting flexis across the twin cities without the permission of the GHMC.

Cases were filed under section ICC 421 (1) against the actor and Chiranjeevi blood bank organizer Swamy Naidu.

Ram visited Chiranjeevi Blood Bank in Jubilee Hills, along with his uncle, Naga Babu to celebrate his birthday with his fans. Sources reveal that the organizers had put up his flexis, which is not allowed, as model code of conduct is in place.

This did not go down too well with the officials as they filed a case against him at Jubilee Hills Police Station stating the above mentioned reason.

Only time will tell if this case will hold any ground.
