Tamilnadu Dubbing Union has terminated the membership of popular dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada. She named Radha Ravi in MeToo movement saying that he harassed a lot of women in the past. Irked with these comments, Radha Ravi, who heads the union terminated the membership of Chinmayi citing some small reasons.

An upset and angered Chinmayi filed a case in Tamil Nadu High Court. The court has now ordered a stay on the ban put up by the union. Chinmayi confirmed the same and expressed happiness over the same.

“I have been awarded an interim stay order by the Honble Court regarding my ban from the Tamilnadu Dubbing Union. It is a long legal battle ahead. Hope justice will prevail. Thank you.” posted Chinmayi on Twitter.

During the #MeToo movement, popular singer Chinmayi Sreepada made some shocking revelations about legendary Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu and singer Karthik. She alleged that Vairamuthu tried to sexually abuse her and Karthik attempted to sexually harass one of her friends, who is also a singer.

After the allegations, Karthik stayed away from the public domain and social media. After almost three months, the singer came out and opened up on the comments made on him. He said, ” There have been anonymous allegations and rumors being made against me on Twitter. True to my conscience, I have never ever hurt any human being or harassed anybody ignoring their consent.”

“I want to put it out there that I have never intentionally acted in a way that would make anybody feel uncomfortable or unsafe. If anybody felt hurt because of any of my actions in the past, please reach to me directly. I do believe in facing the consequences of one’s actions,” he added. Karthik also stated that his father’s unstable health condition made him look after him and stay away from media.

Chinmayi Sripada is the popular singer and dubbing artist in the South film industry. She has been the voice for Samantha over the years and made a name for herself in the industry. After opening up about lyricist Vairamuthu, (Meetoo Movement) she worried that she will be expelled from the dubbing union. As expected, her dubbing union membership has been axed now.

“Sooo given to understand that I have been terminated from the dubbing union. Which means I can longer dub in Tamil films henceforth. The reason stated is that I haven’t paid ‘subscription fees’ for 2 years though this hasn’t stopped them from taking 10% off my dubbing income. According to Tamil Film Industry rules if you’re not a member of the dubbing union they wont allow you to work. Considering no written communication, message was sent to me on past dues and with the membership terminated I wonder if I ll dub for a film again in Tamil. I expected the first axe to go down from the dubbing union. I dont know yet if I’ll be given my membership back. Just a decision that’s been taken without informing me that my membership is terminated. I am still on the much publicised concert tour in the US. Anyway as of now it looks like ‘96 will be my last in Tamil. It is a good film to end my Tamil dubbing scene with if the termination were to continue. Bye Bye!” tweeted Chinmayi.

As Chinmayi is getting a lot of support from within the industry and the media, there is also a criticism over her for making allegations on the legendary lyricist. On the other side, Vairamuthu responded to the allegations by neither accepting or denying them but by telling that he is being defamed unnecessarily. Singer Chinmayi has taken to her Twitter to share that she was groped at an event yesterday (March 11), and the talented singer shared her shocking feelings about it.

“After almost aeons I got groped at an event yesterday. I happened to share this story on Instagram and what shocked me is how many men and women have been molested as children (teachers, brothers, co passengers, uncles, grandparents and even women).

Most common places – Their own home, public transport, places of worship, educational institutions. Most girls and boys haven’t mustered the strength to share it with their family and friends coz no one would believe it. Even if girls have a chance of being heard, men have NONE.

Men are shamed if they share an account of sexual assault/molestation during childhood. Women who gathered the courage to share have been blamed “she enjoyed it”. Imagine grown adults accusing a child of enjoying sexual assault. And other seemingly sane adults believing it.”

Chinmayi posted in detail about this groping incident, on her Instagram space. She also recollected her bad memories of being sexually harassed when she was a 7-year-old kid.

The post read, “So, at the finale shoot and general audience selfie-mania (from all the celebs of course), I got groped. Its been a very long while since I have been groped. Don’t know if I should be mad that the channel didn’t budget for security or if I should have walked out instead of grinning, pretending as if everything is normal and finally leaving.

Eventually, today’s episode was about a child that would win. I didn’t want to be a wet blanket on the goings on. But I guess I needed a reminder that just because I hang out with and my circle is made of fantastic men, everyone ain’t the same. And that women across the world need to grin and bear it.

The first time I was molested was by a man of -lets say – religion. (Mentioning the religion would be unnecessary controversy). I was 7. Sleeping. And his hands were in my underwear. I wasn’t scared then to go tell my mom that ‘that uncle’ was bad. I am sure that guy is still a paedophile, still being A MAN OF GOD.

Today, though my brain shut down for a short while until I realized I had to look normal for the camera. I think educational institutions should let girls and boys interact with each other like normal beings. They segregate them. And once done with college how would these people move normally in a work environment?

At this point, I am shocked how many girls are messaging me of their encounters with paedophiles. And the fear of not talking about it ever. Speak up girls!!! It is *never* your fault if you are touched without your consent, no matter what you wear.

As with paedophiles – boys are at equal risk. You’d be shocked if you knew how many young boys are molested/raped/sexually abused. At least girls have a chance of being heard. Many boys grow up, live with the trauma in silence. Remember this.”

“Somehow a woman has to apologize for her choices in life, clarify for other people’s assumptions. It’ll be nice if people took her advise. Time and again do men and women on social media find ways to slut shame a woman. Across India. Across the world, actually. In my case, I have seen several people who no point to make bring up one particular incident from March 2017 and use that to slut shame. It is different that what could be best described as professional vendetta is used against those who went through the trauma – time and again (sic),” posted Chinmayi.

But the singer had to bear the brunt of angry Pawan fans who began abusing her. But she gave it back to them wisely. “If you disagree with my viewpoint speak up with dignity and I shall stand corrected. Shame me and I couldn’t care less :) (Sic),” she wrote.

For those trolling Chin, she has always been a huge admirer of sir for his honesty and how he wants to make a difference to society.
