Normally, we rarely see the music director Ilayaraja talk at an interview or a public stage. But the legendary composer lost his cool and made some strong comments recently on actress Rohini. If we get into the story, there was an event held last month, called Ilayaraja 75.

The legendary musician was felicitated by the celebrities across Tamil cinema at this event. Actress Rohini hosted this event. At one point, when director Shankar was on stage, Rohini asked him when would he like to collaborate with Raja sir. Before Shankar gave his answer, Ilayaraja interrupted and said, “I don’t like this.”

“Shankar would work with whomever he wants to. Are you trying to get me a chance? Why would you trouble Shankar by asking such questions?” he asked. Rohini tried to cool the situation by saying that that was not her intention behind asking the question. Later, Shankar gave an answer but everyone was shocked by this kind of response from Raja. The video is currently going viral on the internet.

Ilayaraja is one of the legendary and talented music composers in the industry. From small directors to star directors, everyone wants to work with him.

But, ace director Shankar hasn’t worked with Ilayaraja. The director himself revealed that he didn’t work with him though he got a chance to do so. “During the starting of my career as a director, I have ways wanted to work with Ilayaraja. In fact, I even thought of working with him for ‘Gentleman’ movie. I also got an opportunity to talk to him. But, my huge respect for him made be unable to utter a single word to him. He is like a music dictionary. I feel like my experience is not enough to work with him. Also, I am scared of him and I can’t say that I want this and that. So, I haven’t worked with him yet” Said Shankar.

“Though I am unable to work with Ilayaraja sir, I am happy that I acted with him. We shot for a commercial together” added the ‘2.O’director.

Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently busy with the shooting of his 151st film titled Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is a movie based on freedom fighter Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy. Surender Reddy is the director of the film, and the makers initially approached A.R.Rahman for the music composer. Later the senior music composer has walked out of the project because of several reasons.

A lot of names like M.M.Keeravani and S.S.Thaman were heard as a music director regarding the film, but nothing has been confirmed. Now we have come to know that Maestro Ilayaraja is in consideration to score music for this historic movie. Ilayaraja approached with the proposal, but he is yet to give his decision for the same.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Vijay Sethupathi, Jagapathi Babu, Sudeep, Brahmaji and others in the lead roles.

Even before forgetting the happened issue between Legends Ilayaraja and SPB, the duo is set to get united soon.

We know that the legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam has been participating in his world tour with a name SPB50. Right now, he has been touring the US. The other day, he received shocking legal notices sent by Music Maestro Ilayaraja for singing his songs without his permission. Deeply hurt by this, the Singer took his Facebook to deliver a message. In his message, he stated that he has been touring many countries and he didn’t understand why Ilayaraja sir sent these only after ending the tour in the US. However, SPB made it clear that he will not sing Ilayaraja songs anymore and will sing songs of other musicians.

SPB stated that he was deeply hurt with Ilayaraja sir’s act. It’s a noticeable thing that the notices were also sent to singers Charan, Chitra and show organizers. However, SPB asked all not to comment on anyone with hurtful comments.

Isaignani Ilaiyaraja is busy scoring music for multiple films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. It is for a Kannada-Telugu bilingual titled as ‘Idolle Ramayana’ in Kannada and ‘Manavoori Ramayana’ in Telugu. Prakash Raj is directing the bilingual. As for the reports, Ilaiyaraja called famous Carnatic vocalist Sudha Raghunathan for a song in this Prakash Raj’s bilingual film.

It is worth recalling that Sudha Raghunathan who had achieved a top position as a classical vocalist was introduced to cinema by none other than musical genius Ilaiayaraja in R.Parthiepan’s ‘Ivan’ that released in 2002. She had sung three classical numbers in that album which were well received by the music lovers. Later, she took a long gap of fourteen years from singing for movies, and now, the legendary singer is making a comeback.

Legendary music composer Ilayaraja has met with an awkward experience in Bangalore airport.

Ilayaraja along with his family was coming back to Chennai after visiting few temples in Mangalore. In Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bangalore, the musician, who was on his way to catch the flight, was allegedly stopped as his bag contained prasadam. Ilayaraja was bringing the prasadam from a noted temple.The security officer asked Ilayaraja to step aside and scanned him with a machine.

Ilayaraja’s son Karthik Raj got hugely upset with the treatment meted out to his legendary father. The legendary musician ended up with having a scuffle with security officials for more than one hour before he and his family members were finally allowed to catch the flight.

A top official who saw this in CCTV cameras came running to apologize and send the musician to catch the flight.

Universal hero Kamal Haasan is teaming up with his favorite and legendary music director Ilayaraja after over a decade.

The combination of Ilayaraja and Kamal Haasan has always been super hit and they have worked together for many musical hits in the past. Ilayaraja last composed music for Kamal Haasan’s ‘Mumbai Express’ in 2005. After 11 years, the duo is teaming up again for Kamal’s new film ‘Sabaash Naidu’.

Hemalatha lodged a cheating complaint against Ilayaraja in Chennai last October alleging that he is now gearing up to marry another woman. Hema has now lodged a fresh complaint in Hyderabad and requested to stop his second marriage.

Legendary music director Ilayaraja, who has the distinction of and Guinness Book Record for composing music for over 1000 feature films, is going to receive the first salute in Chennai today.

At an event to be held today at Loyola College at Nungambakkam in Chennai, an art exhibition of Ilayaraja’ musical notes drawn by 100 artists are going to be exhibited.

It is a one of its kind felicitation for the legend. Ilayaraja, actor Vijay Sethupathi, Nadigar Sangam president Nassar and few other reputed persons from Kollywood are expected to attend the event.

Reportedly, Kamal sang a song under Ilayaraaja’s music direction for young hero Gautham Karthik’s(‘Kadali’ fame) forthcoming film Muthu Ramalingam. It is said that maestro Ilaiyaraja himself suggested Kamal’s names for this title song. When Ilaiyaraja called up, Kamal could say no so he went to the studio and recorded the song.

Muthu Ramalingam also has Gautham Karthik’s father, senior actor Karthik, teaming up with his son for the first time in his career. Actress Priya Anand, who paired with Gautham in his earlier film Vai Raja Vai, is pairing with him again in this movie as his leading lady.

Music Maestro Ilayaraja has distributed food packets in the Little Flower School and it has been badly affected due to the flood water.

Ilayaraja, who is 72, has got to know about the worst condition that the children are going through via Facebook and Radio messages. Touched by this, Ilayaraja decided to visit the school. Though he was cautioned about the risk factor of visiting there, Raja took the decision of distributing food and water to the children.

After reaching to school in a boat, Ilayaraja met the children and spoke to them politely. He assured them that God is always with them, and they need not worry about anything.

In the meeting with the children, Ilayaraja sang a devotional song and filled the pupil with some confidence. Children who were deeply moved by the Maestro’s act touched his hands and feet in tears.

Ilayaraja performed to the super hit songs of MSV and fans of these two legends have come in big numbers to attend the event despite there was heavy rain.

Surprisingly, superstar Rajinikanth has also attended the event even though he was not invited. Once Ilayaraja invited him on to the stage, Rajini said that MSV is a musical God and Ilayaraja is a master of music so it is fitting only if Ilayaraja gives ode to MS Viswanathan.
