There are some actors who always choose innovative roles and scripts even when they are going through a series of flops. They know what they are doing and still choose to do the roles which challenge them physically and mentally. Chiyaan Vikram is one such an actor who always surprises the audience with his makeovers and innovative scripts and roles he chooses. He is always ready to give his best for the role he is playing. The previous movies he acted has not been successful and he is in his bad phase. He is now coming with “Mr.KK” which is touted to be an adrenaline thriller being produced by legendary Kamal Hassan in his banner Raj Kamal Films International. This film co-stars Akshara Hassan and Abi Hassan. Let’s see how it works on us as it is releasing today into theatres.

Story

In Kuala Lumpur, KK (Vikram) escapes from the Twin towers from two bad guys who are trying to kill him, wounded and ends up in hospital being saved by a trainee doctor named Vasu (Abi Hassan). He treats him and calls police about the case. He leaves for his home and he lives with his pregnant wife (Akshara Hassan). They are attacked by a person and they kidnap his pregnant wife and asks him to get KK in exchange of his wife. Meanwhile, Police and some other groups starts searching for KK. How Vasu saved his wife? Who kidnapped his wife? Who is KK and why is he being chased? Who are the people chasing KK?

Cast and Performance

Vikram is fantastic in the role of KK and he gave his best as always to make the role memorable. Although he gets a limited screen presence, he completely steals the show with his performance. His stylish body language and his looks are additional layers to the character. Akshara Hassan is good in her role. Abi Hassan who more screen presence has used it fully to showcase his acting abilities and succeeded well in that aspect. Lena as a cop is nice. All other actors have done a good job in their roles.

Writing Performance

The story of Mr. KK is exciting and the screenplay is written well but the slow pace kills the mood. The dialogues are okay.

Technical Performance

This film has one song and it is composed well by Ghibran. He did his best in scoring the background score and elevated the action sequences to another level with his thrilling music. The cinematography by Srinivas R Gutha is superb. His work is an added advantage to the movie. The editing by Praveen KL is fine. The stunts and action sequences are very well composed and they worked out very well. The production values of RKFI is grand.

Verdict

Mr. KK is a story of a guy who is being chased by every other gang and how he escapes from them and put an end to his problems. This film is a remake of a French film and director Rajesh Selva who earlier directed Cheekati Rajyan has done good work. The entire first half only ends up in setting up the characters and not even one percent of the story is revealed here. The second half is where the real action starts and is let down by the slow pace. Interestingly, Chiyaan Vikram gets lesser screen presence than Abi Hassan and Vikram makes it up with his performance. The stylish action sequences and thrilling moments worked out well. To sum up, Mr. KK is a one-time watchable stylish action thriller from Vikram.

Director Shankar has started the much-anticipated sequel of Bharateeyudu earlier this year. But the shoot of the film is currently halted due to budget issues. And also, lead actor of the film, Kamal Haasan was busy in political works till last month. We have to see when will it go back on the floors.

Meanwhile, we hear that Shankar is now working on a new project. Apparently, he is planning to direct a multi starer with Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram and Vijay’s son Jason Vijay. Shankar has worked with both these star heroes in the past and now, he is planning to work with their sons.

There is no official news about this project though. Currently, Dhruv Vikram is gearing up to make his debut with Adithya Varmaa, which is an official remake of Arjun Reddy. On the flip side, Jason Vijay is pursuing his higher studies in the US.

Pithamagan is considered as one of the classics ever made in the Tamil Cinema. Directed by Bala, this film starred Vikram and Suriya in the lead roles. The movie brought Vikram a national award for best actor. It was also dubbed into Telugu as Shiva Puthrudu in 2004.

Now, according to the latest reports, this film is all set to get remade in Hindi as well. A leading production house had bought the rights of the film long back and is now planning to take it on to the floors. It is still unclear on who will be directing the film and what will be lead cast.

The makers of the film stated that apart from Dhruv, rest of the entire cast and crew will be changed and the new version will be released by June 2019. The latest we hear from the Kollywood circles is that it is none other than Vikram who is behind shelving this version of the film.

Vikram bought the right of Arjun Reddy right after its release, hoping that it will be a perfect launchpad for his son. Thus, he took a call for the re-shoot in order to make this film a successful debut venture for his son at any cost.

Versatile Actor Chiyaan Vikram who recently appeared in the power-packed sequel of ‘Saamy’ titled as ‘Saamy Square’ is now getting ready to star in a high budget mythological movie ‘Mahavir Karna’.

RS Vimal is helming this project. Initially, Mollywood actor Prithviraj was supposed to play the lead role in the movie with a limited budget of 60 crores. But now, as soon as the project got in the hands of Vikram, the American production banner United Film Kingdom came forward to bankroll this project with a massive budget of 300 crores. The movie launch event took place recently and the movie unit organized a grand Pooja in Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram. On this note, the pictures of the movie unit doing Pooja with a temple bell is going viral on the internet.

After praying to God, the movie unit came back to Ramoji Film City. The movie is going to be shot in Tamil Malayalam and Hindi languages and will be dubbed into 32 other languages. The expectations are high on this project.

Vikram is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie titled as Saamy Square which is the sequel for his super hit movie Saamy. The shoot of the movie is currently in progress near Gandikota of Kadapa district. The film unit shot a fight sequence on Sunday at Madhavaraya Swamy temple. Fight master Selvan choreographed the action sequence.

Directed by Hari, Saamy Square stars Vikram and Keerthy Suresh in the leads. Saamy was earlier remade by Balakrishna with the title Lakshmi Narasimha but the makers now wanted to release Saamy Square in Telugu.

Story:

Jiiva aka Sketch (Vikram) is a right hand to a financier Sait (Harish Peradi), who offers loan for bikes and cars. Sait uses Jiiva as a weapon to seize the vehicles when someone fails to pay back the due amount. In the process, Sait challenges Sketch to seize an old Fiat car of a gangster Kumar(Babu Raj). Kumar considers it as his precious possession in memory of his dad. What happens then? How did the war between Jiiva and Kumar unfold? forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

Chiyaan Vikram is the biggest saving factor of the movie. The actor did well in every scene. His charm will make the audiences awe-struck. The actor did the action sequences well and provides an action feast to the audiences. Tamannah is fit for the glamour role in the film and she hardly had any scope for the performance in the masala entertainer. Babu Raj played the lead antagonist and tried to be powerful in the film. Sreeman, ‘Kalloori’ Vinoth and Vishwanath do justice to what they are offered. RK Suresh and a few others appeared in the negative roles. All the other made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Thaman’s melodies are soothing, building the strongest pillars for the chemistry of the lead pair. His songs, unfortunately, have been the best so far for Vikram in his career. The music director also recorded best background score for the hero and elevated the character and the movie properly at times. The Cinematography, editing, etc, have been taken care of, not venturing too much but the camera work appeared nice. A bit more care for the editing could have made the movie better. The dubbing was done in a decent manner. The stunts were choreographed nicely. The VFX part is nice.

Verdict:

The first half of the movie might look a tad as it takes to establish the characters. This is usual for any film of this sort but it is certainly the weakest point of the movie. The plot opens up only just minutes before the intermission. Other than this, the film also appears hazy. The mass elements are going to work well with the audiences and the romantic portions have also come out well. The film is a typical mass entertainer with Telugu flavour to it. There is an unexpected twist towards the climax that will surely surprise all audiences. It is worth the wait and watch. The movie goes well with the fans but the regular movie lovers might feel that the movie could still be a better one. On a whole, the film is an interesting watch.

Of the several things happened to Vikram in a career spanning more than two decades, Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram is probably the best film. The recently released teaser has opened to outstanding reception from fans and is one of the most anticipated films this year.

In fact, Dhruva Natchathiram is an important film to Vikram, as much it is to Gautham Menon. However, from the past few days, there are many speculations that Vikram demanded huge remuneration for the film.

But recently, the producers of the film clarified that Vikram never demanded high remuneration, and they also stated that he is a great actor in the Indian film Industry.

Star hero Vikram’s Tamil movie Sketch released recently. The movie also had Tamannah Bhatia in the leading lady role. Arjun Reddy’s Tamil remake starring Dhruv Vikram is titled Varma. The female lead of the film, however, is yet to be finalized and it looks like the filmmakers are searching for the heroine. Vikram, Dhruv’s father, took to his official Instagram account to post an intriguing casting call for the female lead of the film.

Shruti Haasan has lent her voice for the video, which also doubles up with a list of requirements of the character and its look. The remake will be directed by Bala and marks the debut of Dhruv Vikram in Tamil film industry.

Produced by E4 Entertainment, work on Varma is likely to begin after Bala completes work on his film Nachiyar, which stars Jyothika in the lead role.

Meanwhile, Vikram is busy with multiple projects, including Sketch and Dhruva Natchathiram. He is currently shooting for the sequel of his hit 2003 movie Saamy, which will be directed by Hari and have Keerthy Suresh playing the female lead.
