Tollywood film industry opened the count with the movie NTR Kathanayakudu this year. The films Petta, Vinaya Vidheya Rama, and F2 followed after that. Recently, Akhil’s Mr. Majnu also hit the theatres.

Along with few small films, a total of 8 movies hit the screens this month and when we are expecting that the same pace will be followed for the coming month, it is not going to happen.

There are very few releases in the month of February. Yatra and NTR Mahanayakudu are the two Telugu films that confirmed the release dates. Dev is the dubbing film that is hitting the screens. Nikhil’s Mudra was supposed to release in February but there is no clarity on the film’s release.

In February, Tollywood is not going to look colorful with multiple films putting the ticket windows ringing.

Hansika recently celebrates her 22nd birthday. And she’s in Mumbai with family and close friends for the special occasion. The actress who is known to lend her support to social causes and contribute her bit to the society adopts a child on each of her birthdays and gives financial help to support his/her education and other needs.

This year too, she followed suit. Apart from extending to her support to young children, she also sponsors medical expenses for breast cancer patients who can’t afford treatment.

Speaking with media, Hansika said that as she is busy with many films in Tamil, she is not able to act in Telugu. Hansika further added that she is not getting a chance to act in Telugu films these days as she is busy in Kollywood.

The United Andhra Pradesh governments used to award prestigious Nandi Awards to the big and small screen industries for their phenomenal work annually. They stopped these awards many years back. Post-bifurcation, the awards have split in between the two Telugu States.

As the government in AP has decided to continue the same name, Telangana government has decided to change the name. Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has given crucial information regarding these awards. Srinivas said that they are reviving these awards again with another name. They are looking some names like ‘Simha’, Telangana’s pride ‘Warangal Thoranam’, Telangana State bird ‘Paala Pitta’ or ‘Nemali’. These awards will be organized for the coming Dussehra. The government will finalize one name and shape soon and will be announced.

Meanwhile, the government is keen on hiring some veteran and versatile celebrities from Telugu Film Industry as the Jury. They will form as separate teams for each individual year for all the missed years so far.

The Sankranthi season this year is going to be interesting and exciting. There are almost four films fighting for domination at the box office, but the final box office war would be certainly between Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna.

It is Mega Star Chiranjeevi who is starting off the race. The film Khaidi No 150, which is the official remake of the Tamil superhit film Kaththi is the first one to entertain the audiences this year on 11th. V V Vinayak is the director of the film and Ram Charan is the producer. Next, It is Nandamuri Balakrishna who is entering the race with his film Gautamiputra Satakarni on 12th. This is a prestigious film for the actor as it marks his 100th film. Krish Jagarlamudi directs the film.

R Narayana Murthy, the people’s star is also in the Sankranthi race. His film Head Constable Venkataramayya is also releasing for Sankranthi. The buzz is that the film releases on 12th. Hema Malini:

Bollywood’s Dream Giri, Hema Malini will be seen in the mother role in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni. The filmmakers are paying a whopping amount Rs 2 Crores to Hema as her role is quite important in the film.

The remuneration for Aishwarya, who acted in Kalyana Vaibhogame, is 40-50 thousand. The other actresses like Vinaya Prasad, Surekha Vani are also getting Rs 20 -30 thousand per day.

Mexican multiplex chain Cinepolis has announced its plans of investing Rs 400 crore and opening 160 cinema screens in the top 60 cities across the nation by the end of 2017.

“We will invest Rs 400 crore to open 160 screens by December 2017 in India. India is the second largest market for Cinepolis after Mexico. Our focus is to start screens in the list of 60 cities that we have identified. In the next six months, we will open screens in cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Guwahati, Hyderabad, etc.,” said Cinepolis India Managing Director Javier Sotomayor.

The company has just launched four new cinema screens in New Delhi. Cinepolis had opened its first cinema screen in India in Amritsar in 2009. Later, it acquired Fun Cinemas in 2015. Cinepolis is now looking forward to opening new screens under Cinepolis and Fun Cinemas brand.

The Telangana Cabinet sub-committee on film industry has suggested that the number of films shows in theatres be increased to five from four, but suggested that only low budget films are played in the fifth show.

Well, this is surely a good news for small-budget filmmakers, who are currently finding it very difficult to get theaters for their films. The sub-committee also said that the number of theaters for small films should be increased from 30 to 50. The sub-committee also gave its nod to allocate 9 acres of land in Chitrapuri to construct homes for the film workers.

Also, the subcommittee gave its approval to the proposal to set up a TV and Film Institute. Among those, who were present at the meeting were Dasari Narayana Rao, Daggubati Suresh, Murali Mohan, Tammareddy Bharadwaj and Shankar.

Every Friday, we only get to see competition between three to four releases. In case of biggies, even big filmmakers negotiate and comprise for next one or two weeks release. The main reason for this limitation is the availability of theaters and the target to get maximum box office returns.

But, when comes to this Friday ( February 26th) surprisingly, this week has a record breaking number of ten releases. Though most of these films are not popularly known, but their respective makers are quite eager to test their luck in the midst of other small budget films which are releasing on the same day. These movies are Kshanam, Padesaave, Terror, Appudala Ippudila, Yeluka Mazaka, Rajugariintlo 7varoju, Veeriveeri Gummadi Pandu. Even in the dubbing steam, we have interesting films like Yamapaasam and Gods of Egypt.

3. Attarintiki Daredi(2013):

Power star Pawan Kalyan’s much talked about film “Attarintiki Daredi” was leaked online before the official release. Directed by Trivikram and featuring Samantha in the lead role, Attarintiki Daredi first half was leaked online many days before its official release. However, the film did well at the box office, and the performance by Pawan Kalyan was much appreciated.

4. Baahubali (2015):

Another S.S.Rajamouli’s film “Baahubali” saw a 12-minute leak of the film. In this leak, there were few action scenes in which Prabhas and Rana were seen in a war sequence. In spite of the particular video leak, the very same scene in the film was appreciated after its release. “Baahubali” is now one of the India’s biggest blockbuster films.

These were few films that got leaked even before the original film released and still managed to become super hits at the box-office.
