It’s raining biopics in the coming year in Tollywood. Right from the lives of celebrities to sportsmen, cinema’s fascination with real life stories isn’t new.

The film industry is all about glam and glitter, and with increasing biographical films based on eminent personalities, the common man’s story often gets unnoticed. Yes, there have been famous personalities who have led extraordinary lives and it is no surprise movies are made based on them.

However, there have been instances when some common people with uncommon stories made headlines and everybody including Tollywood took notice. From small independent cinema to multi-starrer big budget films, Tollywood is all set to witness the release of biopics on eminent personalities this year as well, a trend it chooses to carry forward from last year.

Earlier we have seen biopic movies like Raktha Charitra, Vangaveeti and others. This year 2017 seems biopic trend in Tollywood and filmmakers are getting ready to make the films on famous personalities. Here are few examples.

SR NTR Biopic by Balakrishna:

Legendary actor turned filmmaker NTR son himself announced recently that he will be doing a biopic on his father’s cinematic and political legacy. The film will be directed by Teja and the shooting will commence soon. As of now, pre-production works are progressing at a jet speed.

Lakshmi’s NTR:

This is also a biopic on legendary actor NTR and it will be directed by RGV. The cast and crew of the film is yet to be finalized. The shooting will progress soon.

Lakshmi’s Veera Grandham:

Another Producer cum director Kethireddy Jagadeeswara Reddy also making a biopic on NTR and that movie titled as “Lakshmi’s Veera Grandham”.

Mahanati Savitri:

Talented actress Savitri fondly known as Mahanati’s biopic shooting is progressing at a jet speed. Keerthy Suresh will be seen as Savitri. Several famous actors will be seen in this film and it is set for April release in 2018. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy biopic as Syee Raa:

After making a comeback into Tollywood after a decade, Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to do a biopic on Telugu freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy under Surendar Reddy’s direction. The film has been titled as Syee Raa, the shooting will commence soon and is set to hit theaters in 2018.

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao biopic:

Director Madhu Sreedhar Reddy had announced that he would be making a biopic on Telangana CM to showcase his struggle for carving the separate state of Telangana from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. The film is expected to hit the screens in 2018.

Pullela Gopichand biopic:

Pullela Gopichand was an ace Badminton player and winner of the All England Open Badminton Championships in 2001. He presently serves as the National Coach of the Indian Badminton Team.

Sudheer Babu is looking forward to star in Indian Badminton maestro Pullela Gopichand biopic. National Award-winning director Praveen Sattaru’s film on the former Indian badminton champion Pullela Gopichand will be made in Telugu, Hindi and English.

The ever controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has stirred a huge controversy after announcing the biopic of legendary NTR in Lakshmi Parvathi’s perspective. Despite several warnings by the TDP leaders, RGV is hellbent on his decision and confirmed that he would go ahead with the project and nobody can stop him.

While the movie’s shooting is expected to commence from April next year, Ram Gopal Varma is busy with the script and pre-production works.

There were several speculations about the cast of the movie that Prakash Raj and Roja will play NTR and Lakshmi Parvathi’s roles respectively, but neither RGV nor the actors have confessed the same. As per the latest reports, Ram Gopal Varma’s ardent follower and actor JD Chakravarthy is all likely to reprise the role of Chandra Babu Naidu in ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’. However, an official announcement is yet to be made.

Ram Gopal Varma has made yet another controversial post related to ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ on his Facebook page.

Sharing an old picture of NTR, Lakshmi Parvathi & Chandrababu Naidu, Ram Gopal Varma wrote: ‘Ee Deepawali Sangathi Sare Kani, Vache Deepawali Lo Matram NTR Gari Athma Antinche Chala Chala Lakshmi Bomb-Lu Pelabothunnayi. Happy Next Year’s DIWALI’.

He also shared another photograph which was created by one of his followers, Harini Karengala. He feels the creation is very apt for his most ambitious project.

Varma has already announced shoot of ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ begins in February & releases in October next year. Which means, The controversial flick will hit the screens for Diwali 2018.

Vani Vishwanath who recently announced that she would join the ruling TDP party is angry with Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma who is going to helm the biopic on a legendary actor and Politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. On Friday, Vani Vishwanath, who had acted with N.T. Rama Rao in the 1992 film, Samrat Ashok, threatens RGV to drop his plans to make ‘Lakshmi’s NTR.’

Vani Vishwanath, who claimed her maternal ancestry to Nagari town and expressed her urge to contest from the Nagari Assembly constituency on behalf of the TDP, said, “ If you ask a Telugu audience that who is a godlike actor, they will take the name of Sr.NTR. He is in the mind of Telugu people like a Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. I feel it genuine to request Ramu to drop the idea to make a movie on Sr.NTR. NTR’s life is just not ordinary, and it is linked with the ocean of his fans. I feel the film, targeting NTR personally, will damage his image, and also hurt the sentiments of NTR’s fans.”

Vani added that she had met Lakshmi Parvati for the first time in 1992 during the shoot of Samrat Ashok. NTR himself introduced her to me. Later, when the TDP returned to power in mid-90s, I went to NTR’s house and met the couple.” She further said, “If anything goes wrong I will be the first person as NTR‘s fan will hold a dharna in front of RGV’s house. RGV is popular for making movies for business and controversy. As a fan of NTR, I request RGV to stop making this film.”

On the work-side, Vani Vishwanath, was last seen in Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Rakul Preet Singh starrer ‘Jaya Janaki Nayakka’ directed by Boyapati Srinu. On the other hand, Roja has clarified stating that she will think if she is offered to perform the role of Lakshmi Parvati in RGV’s Lakshmi’s NTR.

In retort, RGV said, “Vani garu! I have no house to get a dharna staged by you in front of my home. I usually roam on roads. Even if you wish to roam on roads in search of me, your feet may get ruptured.”

There are many speculations about Lakshmi’s NTR from the time when Ram Gopal Varma announced about the movie. Some speculations seem to be natural, but some seem to be created by RGV. The eccentric filmmaker gave publicity to the movie in competition with Balayya’s NTR Biopic. He gave a small clue that YCP leader Roja has become a plus point to Lakshmi’s NTR.

NTR and Lakshmi Parvati characters in the Lakshmi’s NTR are very important. It is heard that other than Lakshmi Parvathi’s role, no other lady characters may not be important in the film.

It is speculated that Roja will be doing Lakshmi Parvathi’s character in this film. If Prakash Raj agrees to NTR’s character, then Roja was expected to agree the Lakshmi Parvathi’s role. Lakshmi’s NTR producer is very confident on the movie and moving along with RGV.

Mixed reactions are being witnessed after the announcement of a biopic on Sr NTR, especially after controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was chosen to helm the project. What NTR Jr, who is hailed by a section of Nandamuri fans as the ‘reincarnation of Sr NTR, thins about the idea of a biopic on his grandfather.

When asked about his opinion, Jr. NTR said, “Sr NTR doesn’t belong to just one family, he is the property of Telugu people. The decision of biopic on him has been welcomed by entire Telugu speaking fraternity.”

NTR further added that he is not getting dare to don his grandfather role. Meanwhile, he is currently taking vacations and also planning to host Bigg Boss Season 2.

Controversial Ram Gopala Varma is going to work with Akkineni Nagarjuna for a new Telugu movie after a gap of almost 28 years. The duo has earlier worked for the films, Shiva and Govinda Govinda. As per the reports, Nag and RGV’s new film is said to a realistic action entertainer.

“I am extremely excited that I am doing a film with Nagarjuna after nearly 25 years but contrary to some uninformed media speculations, this new film is nothing to do with ‘Shiva’, neither in character nor in story content,” Varma posted on his Facebook page.

On the work front, Akkineni Nagarjuna’s movie Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is getting ready for release and RGV is gearing up for Lakshmi’s NTR, a biopic on Sr NTR.

It’s known news that Nandamuri Balakrishna is planning to make a movie on legendary NTR’s biopic. It is also heard that the biopic will be helmed by RGV or Puri or Deva Katta. A couple of days back, Ram Gopal Varma announced that he would be doing a movie based on NTR’s biopic.

However, today RGV shocked everyone with his Facebook post. He announced that his movie based on NTR’s biopic would be titled as Lakshmi’s NTR and this movie will be narrated from the perspective of Lakshmi Parvathi.

Sensational filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has set a stage for a huge controversy yet again. He dared to irk the powerful Vangaveeti family this time.

Yesterday the YSRCP leader Gautam Reddy commented on Ranga’s death. Immediately Vangaveeti Ranga’s wife Ratna Kumari and son Radha created a ruckus. Ram Gopal Varma’s decision to make NTR biopic is creating ripples in the Telugu film industry. Posani Krishna Murali, who is not known to mince words, said that this would be a very bad thing and warned RGV that NTR fans would attack him with their footwear if something goes wrong.

Now, the latest buzz is that he called up the actor Vidyut Jammal after drunken up badly. The actor has put up the audio recording on the internet and it is trending viral now. RGV also said that Tiger Shroff is the best woman he came across in his life and this comment is not going good for him.
