The Lightmen Union slammed one of their own, Manimaran, for his allegation of non-compensation of medical expenses by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam as unfair.

Manimaran has threatened to go on a hunger strike if not compensated for medical expenses incurred while working on Mani Ratnam’s 2007 film Guru. The light man had suffered a blood-related infection on the sets of Guru and claimed neither the Lightmen Association nor Ratnam’s team had compensated him for the treatment in the past one decade.

Lightmen Union Secretary Raman said, “His allegations against us and Mani Ratnam are unfair. He sued us in Labour Court, and the Union was ordered to pay him Rs one lakh which has already been settled. He further added, “This issue was settled amicably long back. We even have a letter of acknowledgment from him.

Manimaran has even threatened to commit suicide in front of Mani Ratnam’s house if not compensated.

As per latest reports, commodities worth few lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes after a fire outbreak in veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s office located at Abiramapuram in Chennai.

It is said that the fire department was alerted by neighbors within minutes after spotting the fire. Although the fire officials were quick to react, they failed to save many of the valuable commodities that were stashed inside the office. No casualties were reported but the fire accident caused a huge financial loss to the veteran director. The primary reason that caused the outbreak of fire is not yet known.As construction works were going on at the office, it is believed that the fire might’ve been caused due to a short circuit.

The latest buzz reveals that Suriya is very much happy about his brother acting in Mani Ratnam direction. In 2003, Suriya starred in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva and for this film, Karthi worked as assistant director. Aditi Rao Hydari was in the city to attend a fashion show and at around 8 pm on Saturday, her driver who is in a hurry to reach the event venue tried to take a shortcut and started driving on the wrong side of the road. The traffic inspector on duty found it and immediately stopped the car.

Surprisingly, the heroine’s team that is following the car has reached the spot and requested the officer to let them go. The inspector felt that it was the driver who violated the rule but not the actress. Even then, he sticked to his duty and started the paperwork. The party on the other side tried its best to keep the pressure on the officer from the senior officials and other biggies. But the police officer paid a deaf ear to it. Finally, the actress stepped out of the car and walked towards the mall.
