Lucky heroine Lakshmi Menon to romance with actor Jiiva in his new movie titled “Gemini Ganesan”.

Talented actress Lakshmi Menon is probably the only actress to score successive hits in Kollywood. Starting her career with hit film ‘Kumki’ with Vikram Prabhu, her latest film ’Vedalam’ starring Ajith, all of her films were decent to blockbuster.

Despite being an in-demand actress, she didn’t hesitate to put acting aside for some time to write Plus 2 exams or act as a sister to Ajith in ‘Vedalam’. Now, she is again getting busy as a lead actress.

Currently, she has a film with Jayam Ravi titled ‘Mirudhan’. Now, she has been roped into romance Jiiva in a new film titled ‘Gemini Ganesan’. Earlier Tamanna was considered but finally Lakshmi Menon came on board.

However, it seems all this wasn’t enough for the Kumki girl in terms of keeping herself busy, because we have a new piece of news flying around that Laskhmi will be starring in the female lead in Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming flick Rajini Murugan!

The film is being directed by Ponram of Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam fame, and sources say Lakshmi has been confirmed for the role of the heroine and will join the sets this October.

This development is fresh to anyone who has been keeping tabs on the project, as it was reported earlier that Samantha would Sivakarthikeyan’s girl in the film. Looks like that was unfounded and official sources have slammed it down.

What else do we know about Rajini Murugan? Let us see now.

We know that Sivakarthikeyan is playing the titular role and that he is a real estate broker in the flick. Samuthirakani, who just worked with Lakshmi in Jigarthanda and has been getting rave reviews and acclaim for his performance in that, is playing the baddie in the Ponram film.

It has also been confirmed that D Imman will be the man composing the tunes for this project and that Thiruppathi Brothers will the production company involved.

Lakshmi Menon is certainly going places and one of those places now seems to be Tollywood! Yes, the young starlet is rumoured to be in talks with none other than the Power Star Pawan Kalyan himself!

Yes, the superstar, who is currently wrapping up the film Gopala Gopala in which he plays the lead, is all set to direct a movie next, with his name on the marquee, and he plans to rope in Lakshmi to play the female lead in that one, according to sources.

This would indeed be a magnificent entry in to the Telugu film industry for the talented actress or so say the industry gurus. Lakshmi, who recently joined the prestigious one crore club in remuneration, has consistently delivered hits in Kollywood.

In fact, she was named the fastest rising star in Kollywood recently by a private media entity.. the fastest rising ‘star’ mind you, not just among the female stars. It is hard indeed to wrap your head around the fact that this diva is just turned 18 and is more or less still a high schooler.

Lakshmi is also a multi talented artist, who started off as a dancer but it looks like she has her eyes set on a singing career as well as she is lending her vocals to a song in the R Kannan movie Oru Oorle Rendu Raaja.

So a career that started just three years ago, has so far spread in to Mollywood and definitely made a mark on Kollywood. If the talks with the Power Star reach a favourable conclusion, we might see Lakshmi in Tollywood as well.

The much-awaited film “Indrudu” has hit the screens today. It is the Telugu dubbed version of the Tamil movie “Naan Sigappu Manithan”. The movie doesn’t have big stars or other commerical elements. Yet it was being projected as a commercial entertainer. To find out the fate of the movie, Read Indrudu Movie Review.

Plot :

Indran (Vishal) suffers from Narcolepsy (a sleep disorder that forces him to fall asleep whenever he experiences extreme emotion) since birth. He grows up to be totally dependent on his mother (Saranya)and is unable to travel anywhere without her support.

Saranya desperately wants to get her son married. But it is not possible for Indran to have an intimate relationship because these powerful emotions will invariably trigger his sleeping disorder.

Meera (Lakshmi Menon), daughter of a rich business tycoon (Jayaprakash) comes into his life and gives it a new meaning. Her father is against the match though, as he fears that his daughter will not be able to bear children if she marries Indran. But Meera is determined and together they discover that Indran never falls asleep despite all provocation under water

This leads to them experimenting in a swimming pool, where they eventually get intimate and Meera gets pregnant.

Fate delivers a cruel blow to the couple just when they thought all was good. Meera gets gang-raped brutally while Indran is helplessly asleep.

How Indran, who has absolutely no clue to the identity of these men, finds them and avenges his beloved, who is lying in a coma, forms the rest of the story. Quite intriguing, indeed.

Performances and Technical Aspects :

Vishal as Indran, has delivered a commendable performance. It’s certainly not easy to essay the character he did. His frequent collapsing appears absolutely natural with no superfluous theatrics. Kudos to the director for bringing out the best in him.

Lakshmi Menon plays her part perfectly. Her depiction of pain in the gang rape scene deserves a special mention.

Saranya, who plays the quintessential adorable mother of Indran, gets into the skin of character and is delightful to watch.

Director Thiru is the hero of the movie. His intelligent screenplay keeps the audience totally engrossed till the very end. In the absence of big stars, he ensures that the movie keeps the audiences on the edge of the seat.

The screenplay of the movie, though novel, is quite patchy. Poor editing too!

Music by G V Prakash is excellent, creating the right ambience and intensifying the emotions of the characters.

Richard’s cinematography is impressive especially in scenes where we see the use of hand-held camera.

Hawk-Eye Analysis :

“Indrudu” stands testimonial to the fact that a simple story can also be portrayed in an engaging manner. One such way is what we see in this film, which is not an exceptional thriller, but definitely has the potential to keep you hooked.

By taking care of all the smaller details, the makers have earned some respect from the audience.

The narcolepsy angle has been used very effectively from the story’s perspective. We are told that only water keeps our hero from falling asleep and when we see how water becomes a very important aspect of the story, we smile in amazement.

The first half of the film is extremely engaging with a good mix of drama and humour. Jagan keeps the audience in splits with his witty one-liners.

The biggest drawback of the movie though is that the story takes a different turn in the second half, deviating from its central theme and characters. This loses out on the audience engagement quotient.

All drawbacks aside, the subject has been well researched and interpreted without being overly sensational or melodramatic.

Overall, “Indrudu” is a riveting revenge drama with an honest narrative, excellent performances and entertaining twists and turns.

Barring a few glitches here and there, the movie makes up for a good one-time watch, especially for its novel concept and above average performances.

Actor Karthi, while waiting for his much hyped Madras to release in a few weeks, has already immersed himself in another project and that is Komban!

The film stars him along with the talented Lakshmi Menon in the lead, and is being directed by Muthiah of Kuttippuli fame. The pooja for the film was held yesterday and the crew are hoping to get the shooting completed at one stretch.

The main location for the movie is Ramanathapuram, and the director has confirmed that almost all of the film will be shot in the south Tamil Nadu area. Velraj will be handling the cinematography.

Reported to be an all out entertainer for the masses, this one will be a drastically different one from Madras for Karthi.

The film is being produced by S R Prakash Babu and S R Prabhu along with K E Gnanavel Raja under the banner of Studio Green.

“Comedy did not work out for me. I tried that route as it was what appealed to the female audiences and the younger demographic but it just didn’t happen for me.” Says Karthi about his recent string of failures at the box office.

So the actor is definitely looking to move forward and away from his current image as a hero with his new choices.

Lakshmi Menon’s presence in the movie is another good sign for those who are watching the larger trends and career patterns in showbiz. Almost all of the actress’s films have been successes and she has been named as the fastest rising star in Kollywood.

It is truly amazing, considering the fact that the vivacious and multi talented Lakshmi is only 18 and is yet to finish high school! She also has denied rumours that link her romantically with actor Vishal, with whom she has appeared in multiple movies.

“I barely have time for school, how will I date anyone?” Questions the indignant young starlet.

Komban’s success along with Madras’s are very ‘necessary’ for Karthi, at this point, to maintain his bankability as an actor.

So far, it has only been another Malayali actress who made it work with her captivating vocal abilities in Kollywood and that’s Ramya Nambeesan in Pandyanadu. Her song Fy Fy went on to become quite the chart topper, while Lakshmi had to be content with just being in the video of the song, dancing to the music.

Now Lakshmi has the mic or had it, as she sings in the movie Oru Oorla Rendu Raaja starring Vimal, Soori and Priya Anand. It will have to be seen if the actress’s voice is as mesmerizing as her acting skills.

In any case, her chosen full time career is going spectacularly well with her latest flick Manja Pai also getting a tremendously warm reception at the box office.

Now about Oru Oorla Rendu Raaja – interestingly, the music of the film is being composed by D Imman, and it was he who gave Ramya a chance to sing in Pandyanadu as well.

The movie, apart from Lakshmi’s vocals, has another attraction – if the sources are true, it is this movie that will feature the next item number from the Bollywood glamour queen Sunny Leone. In fact, it is for this movie that she was paid almost Rs 35 lacs for just performing in one song!

The film is being directed by Kannan.

Thiru’s ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’, starring Vishal Krishna and Lakshmi Menon, hit the theatres today and so far, at least from the international audiences, the movie is getting good reviews.

All around, the ‘first day first show’ crowds seem thrilled with the clever storyline, thrilling action sequences and amazing direction. However, there is some slight critiquing of the second half – mainly based on half baked dialogues.

Perhaps it’s nitpicking, because certain fans are already giving it a big ‘thumbs up’ and calling it perhaps a career best for Thiru and Vishal.

The plot deals with a man suffering with a sleeping disorder – narcolepsy- who is on a quest for vengeance. This particular genre of plot , though somewhat remnant of Ghajini, is unheard of in Kollywood, especially one that deals with neurological sleep issues with a twist.

The film is being made under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures and Vishal Film Factory. G V Prakash Kumar composes the tunes and M Richard Nathan handles the cinematography.

Iniya, Saranya Ponvannan, Jayaprakash, Sunder Ramu, Jagan, Pyramid Natarajan, VIS Jayapalan and others form the rest of the cast.
