Kerala floods were the most devastating disasters that the country witnessed in the last few decades. A lot of people lost lives and some of them have become homeless. The entire country has come forward to extend their support for the people of Kerala. The personalities from the films, politics and other fields have come forward and announced donations for Kerala floods.

The latest update from Chennai is that Dhruv Vikram has donated the remuneration that he got for his debut film Varma to Kerala CM relief fund. The young actor who is yet to make his debut surprised everyone by this humanitarian gesture. It is rare to see people doing this and moreover it is his first film.

On the other side, Varma is the remake of Arjun Reddy that became a big hit in Telugu.

World-renowned music composer AR Rahman announced a generous amount of Rs. 1 crore for Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. Kerala which faced its worst rain and floods in the past 100 years has recorded a death toll of 483 and property damage of worth Rs. 20000 crores.

Rahman took to Twitter to announce that he and his team of artists are donating the money to Kerala. “From my artists and me touring the USA… To our brothers and sisters of Kerala! May this small offering help in providing you with some relief!” tweeted Rahman. The music composer is currently on a concert tour in the United States of America and made this announcement after his show in Washington. He is going to return to India on September 5 and will attend the music launch of Mani Ratnam’s latest release Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, and will be performing the songs live.

Recently, the music maestro has also performed for the victims of Kerala floods and dedicated a special song for them. During his concert in California, he modified the lyrics of his iconic song ‘Mustafa Mustafa’ to ‘Don’t worry Kerala..’. and sung it for the victims. Now, the huge donation of Rahman is getting appreciated widely.

The death toll due to rains and floods in Kerala increased to 370. Shah Rukh’s Meer Foundation has donated Rs 21 lakh to a relief group working amongst flood victims.

The internet Sensation Poonam Pandey committed to donate her entire remuneration what she will get from her just Signed Telugu film Lady Gabbar Singh, Directed by ace director Veeru K. to Kerala Flood Relief Programme.

She said in a statement: “I am deeply in a trauma and pain to see the devastation caused by the floods in Kerala. My heart goes out to the people in need and in order to help them, I have decided to donate my entire remuneration of just signed Telugu film Lady Gabbar singh to the Kerala relief fund. “I am happy that many people have undertaken their disaster response work in Kerala. I appeal to all my friends, fans and peers from the film industry to come and support our flood relief work for the people of Kerala.”

Ananya is a popular actress in Tamil film industry. Hailing from the land of Kerala, she made her mark in Kollywood. She was famous for her role in the film Journey and was also seen in the movie A.Aa directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Apparently, the actress was in a deep sorrow that her house in Kerala was hit by the ongoing floods. The situation is the same for everyone in the state. The homes of some of the celebrities were also drowned in the floods.

Malayalam Mega Star Mammotty’s home was also affected in the floods. Ananya has come up with a selfie video where she revealed all the struggles she faced in these floods. Ananya revealed that her house was completely affected in the floods and added that her family members were terrified at this situation that was completely unexpected.

She told that she was finally rescued and informed everyone that she is in a safe position in A.Perambavur. It feels good to see a lot of people coming forward to extend the rescue operations to the nook and corner of the state.

All of us are aware of the fact that Kerala state was hit by severe floods. The state and central governments are doing their best to bring back the state to normalcy. The center announced a financial assistance of Rs 500 crore, in addition to Rs. 100 Cr. announced by the Home Minister on Aug 10. Ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh per person to the next kin of the deceased, Rs. 50,000 to those seriously injured from PM’s National Relief Funds (PMNRF). At the same time, the film celebrities also extended their support for this need of the hour.

From Malayalam film industry, Mammootty and Mohanlal have donated 25 lakhs each. Association of Malayalam Movie Artists also donated Rs 50 lakhs. Young her Tovino Thomas provided shelter in his home for those who have become homeless.

From Tollywood, Allu Arjun donated 25 lakhs to Kerala CM Relief Fund. Vijay Devarakonda donated an amount of 5 lakhs. The makers of Geetha Govindam announced that the entire collections of Kerala will be spent for the people in the state. Ram Charan and Upasana jointly donated more than a crore so far.

From Kollywood, Kamal Haasan, Surya-Karthi duo, Vijay Setupathi have donated 25 lakhs each. Surya also donated 10 lakhs fund from Agaram foundation. Siddarth donated ten lakhs. Dhanush announced a donation of 15 lakhs. Vishal and Siva Karthikeyan announced a donation of 10 lakhs each. Sun Network announced a donation of one crore rupees.

Allu Arjun has now has announced a contribution of Rs 25 lakhs to Kerala flood victims. “A red alert was declared in Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram and Calicut areas. Floods in Kerala have affected and even killed a number of people and left thousands homeless. As of the latest count, a total of 37 people have lost their lives and 54,000 more have been displaced. Around 10 of the 14 districts in state have been affected by the floods.
