Addressing at a program held in Mumbai, answering whether there is a limited choice of actors in Bollywood, Karan agreed and said, “Yes, it is a big problem. We have hundreds of films to make, but there are only six actors who can sell your movie. If you take someone new, then you won’t get the budget as the film won’t get proper satellite or music rights, or proper release overseas. If you make a small film, then you can take a chance. The moment I think small, I get worried and scared. I am best when I think large or big”.

The ace filmmaker added, “I need to have the saleable face at the end of the day, as I am a producer and not a studio. When I made ‘Student of the Year’ I took a chance. Fortunately it worked. But it doesn’t work out always.I would request all to launch new faces and then leverage them as I did with Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt as I went on to do several films with them. I think that is what we need to do.”
