All the hurdles have been cleared for the shoot of Kamal Haasan and director Shankar’s prestigious project Indian 2. The shoot will now resume in August, after being halted for more than three months. Currently, the team is prepping up to finish all the works for the upcoming schedule.

Meanwhile, latest reports from Kollywood stated that the makers have approached heroine Rakul Preet for an important role in the movie. Apparently, this Manmadhudu 2 actress charged about Rs. 1.5 crores as the remuneration for just an extended cameo. The makers were shocked by her demand.

It seems that they are not ready to pay such a huge amount for a guest role and are looking out for other options. Kajal is the lead heroine of this movie. It is being produced by Lyca Productions.

The shoot of Kamal Haasan’s Bharateeyudu 2 has been halted a couple of months back due to multiple issues. Firstly, director Shankar has faced trouble in getting the budget allocated and secondly Kamal was busy in his political commitments. Finally, Shankar agreed to the conditions put by producers regarding the budget.

Everyone thought that film will go on floors after that but it didn’t. We now hear that Kamal will resume the shoot of the film once he gets done with his ongoing TV stint Bigg Boss. Many people are wondering why Kamal wants to waste 100 days by not participating in the shoot.

Apparently, Kamal will sport a different look in the film and if he starts shooting now, he has to reveal it when he hosts Bigg Boss. As he wants to be it a secret, the actor decided to restart the shoot in October. Kajal is playing the female lead in it.

After scoring a super hit with 2.0, director Shankar has decided to make another sequel. This time, it was for his 1995 blockbuster Indian. Titled Indian 2, this project was launched earlier this year. While Kamal Haasan was retained as the lead actor, Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in as the lead actress.

After a few days of shoot, the team decided to keep it aside for a while. The first reason for the halt is Kamal, who got busy in his political works for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The second one is that Lyca Productions, which is producing the flick, was not ready to give the budget quoted by Shankar.

Left with no choice, Shankar approached popular production house Reliance Entertainment to save his project. Apparently, Reliance agreed to do that. We just have to see whether Reliance will entirely take over the project or co-produce the film with Lyca.

Shankar Shanmugan is one of the star directors in the South film industry. The director is working hard towards his next film with Kamal Haasan. Shankar has entered into his 25th year as a director. Shankar is undoubtedly a director who took the cinema to the next level. After joining as an assistant to NA Chandra Sekhar, he worked with him for some films and made his debut as a director with Gentleman.

Later, Shankar made a lot of blockbusters which also got dubbed into Telugu. His last film is 2 Point O starring Rajinikanth and Amy Jackson in the leads.

On the occasion of him entering into 25 years, he spent some quality time with his former assistants and associates who are directors now. Ace director Shankar has recently come up with the sequel of ‘Robo’ titled as ‘2.O’. Touted to be a sci-fi thriller, Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar played vital roles in the film.

Despite getting released amid high expectations, the movie failed to reach the expectations. Lyca Production banner bankrolled this project with a massive budget. Because of the exorbitant prices, though the film succeeded in making 800 crores of gross, the collections were not satisfactory. So, for this movie, he has reduced the remunerations. Shankar has decided to cut down the remuneration for their next to reduce the burden on the production banner. Both Rajini and Shankar collaborated took this decision.

Shankar is currently busy with the shooting of ‘Indian 2’ which is a sequel to ‘Bharateeyudu’ movie. Kamal Haasan is reprising his Senapathy role in the movie.

After Baahubali, the next most awaited big budget film from India is Superstar Rajinikanth’s Robo 2.0. As per the latest reports, Shankar is planning to launch the audio of Robo 2.0 in Dubai on a very grand scale. The makers are spending 30 crores for the audio launch. This event takes place in October, hopefully on the occasion of Diwali and film is going to hit the screens on January 25th, 2018.

The makers of the Nation’s most awaited sequel Robo 2.0 have announced the fresh release date of this flick. They are eyeing on the Indian Republic day as the release date.

Earlier all the movie lovers thought that this flick will be released for Diwali of this year. Later the movie was postponed for next year’s Sankranti. However, everyone thought that Pongal holidays will be the right choice as it has more than 12 days of holidays. But the director Shankar has increased the VFX works after watching Baahubali-2 which in turn delayed this movie more further. The production house Lyca have now confirmed that this flick is going to get released on 25th of 2018’s January, last Friday of that month and one day prior to the Indian Republic day. This movie is being made with 400 crores of budget and became the costliest flick in Indian film history.

Directed by Shankar, this movie is bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Thalaivar Rajini Kanth is the male lead. Amy is the female lead, and AR Rahman is scoring the music.

According to reports, the makers of Rajinikanth’s 2.0 will be beginning its promotional campaign in India from this October. A grand audio launch will be held during the festive season of Diwali. The event was initially supposed to take place in Dubai, however, now it will take place within the country itself.
Confirming these plans, a source revealed that initially, the promotional activities will take place in the Southern states. Thereafter, the makers will begin promoting ‘2.0’ in other parts of the country.

“The filmmakers will start organizing promotional events from October. The makers are also planning different types of promotions state-wise down south, which will go on until December end. And from January first week, the makers will ramp up the promotional activities across India,” added the source.

The source went on to add that Rajinikanth—who normally refrains from promoting his movies—will be a part of the promotional activities for ‘2.0’. “Obviously, this is a big film. Big budget. Expectations from this film are completely on a different level. Rajinikanth sir will do his level best in promoting the film,” added the source.

Interestingly, some time ago, the makers of ‘2.0’ kick-started its promotions at an international level when a specially designed hot air balloon had taken off from Los Angeles amidst much fanfare. Robo ‘2.0’ is touted to be a sci-fi thriller and has been directed by Shankar. Besides Rajini, it also features Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Akshay will be a negative role in this one.

Goa beauty Ileana, who ruled southern film industry as numero uno actress for few years, has been finding it difficult to bag movies in Bollywood and as per sources she has been waiting for a right movie to make her comeback to south. Amidst all this, her frequent visits to South Indian top director Shankar’s private guesthouse to meet him secretly have created quite a sensation.

Kollywood media recently quizzed Ileana about this and without any second thought she said that there is nothing wrong in meeting him. She further said that all actors meet big directors either at their guest houses or offices to discuss about collaborations. She added that she was accompanied by her driver and manager during her visits.

Quite a bold statement it was.

Arnold has few action hits like “Terminator” in his career. Now, it is a challenge to Shankar to direct a venture of that range.

New buzz is raising in the media that as Shankar invited Arnold, Rajamouli may invite some other big shot hero from Hollywood for “Bahubali” audio launch. It may be Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. Kollywood film maker Shankar is set to release his venture “I” in Tollywood. As per the reports, Telugu distribution rights of this flick have been bagged by NV Prasad for 30 Crores. From the past few days, negotiations are in progress in this aspect and film makers in Tollywood felt it tough to manage 30 Crores.

It seems that the top distributors came up to 20 -25 Crores in Tollywood as majority of the Kollywood ventures doesn’t have greater than 30 Crores collection range in Tollywood. Shankar’s “Robo” got around 27 Crores at that time as Telugu rights and this hefty price is because of Rajinikanth. It seems that Shankar fixed 30 Crores at any cost to the Telugu rights.

Interestingly, NV Prasad came forward to invest the quoted price of the Telugu rights. It is really a challenge for this distributor and if he achieves success, it may turn into a trend to buy Kollywood films for more than 30 Crores.

Director Shankar, without a doubt delivers epic hits every time he picks up the megaphone, and his movies are visually spectacular with no costs cut on the gorgeous sets and the little details. This is especially known to be true for the elaborate sets he creates not just for the plot, but also for some of the songs in his movies.

Multiple crores were spent on creating the sets of certain songs in Anniyan to even more elaborate ones in Sivaji and need we even speak of Endhiran?

Now, with the next mega flick of his in the works with a reported budget of nearly Rs 250 crores, some focus has shifted from the one that’s almost finished – Ai starring Vikram.

There is a rumour going around that Shankar had constructed a magnificent set at studio in Chennai for the movie… almost a year ago. The set, supposedly, is made like a Chinese village, so one can estimate the pains taken to erect it and the money spent on it.

But here’s the surprising news – it seems Shankar hasn’t used it yet- not even for a single shot!

We have no clue if he is yet to shoot some scene there as originally he had claimed it was for some “important” scenes, but sources say just maintaining the set and keeping it erect has been costing the producer almost Rs 25,000 .. a day!

Wow! If that is indeed true, one truly feels for the producer and sincerely wishes the director would pay attention to the purse strings (albeit not his) once in a while to check if they have completely broken off!

Lavish production values are one thing but complete wastage is entirely another, yes?
