Big B Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan recently shared the screen space in the Bollywood film Thugs of Hinduston. The movie has failed to impress the fans, audiences and the critics. The movie was declared a big disaster at the box office and the film unit too accepted the same silently.

Now, Bollywood top actor Shah Rukh Khan made comments on the movie by telling that he was upset with the failure of Thugs. Usually, the film unit accepts the failure silently but try to project the movie as a successful one in the media.

Much to their surprise, Shah Rukh has given a shock to them now by terming the movie as a flop and added that he was disappointed with the film’s failure. The actor added that he faced a similar situation during the time of Ra.One. “Thugs is a wonderful movie that was not made on Indian screen before.” said the actor.

Thugs of Hindostan is the latest Bollywood movie which failed at the box office. The film released with some expectations but unfortunately, the movie failed to live up to the expectations. The star power of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and others could not help the film from being a hit. Meanwhile, we have come to know that the film failed to cross the records of Baahubali.

With his last film Dangal doing well at the box office, Aamir Khan fans expected that his new film would cross the records of Baahubali but the movie miserably failed in all the areas of the country. The movie ended as a flop in the other countries as well. With the talk from the audiences and the reviews from the critics, it is sure that Baahubali records are safe for some more time.

The trade buzz reveals that the movie collected 52 crores on the first day while Baahubali The Conclusion collected 40.73 crores in India. Except for this record, the movie Thugs failed to create any other record.

Bollywood Perfectionist Aamir Khan joined hands with Big B Amitabh Bachchan for ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. Touted to a period drama set in 1795, the movie runs with a backdrop of pre-independence times. Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh played the female leads in the movie. This star-studded high-budget movie has been grabbing the attention of the audience ever since the day it got launched. The expectations grew over time and ending the long wait, the movie has finally made it into the theatres today on November 8th. Did the movie succeed in reaching the expectations? Let’s see..

Story:

Set in the pre-independence era in the times of the British East India Company, the film narrates the tale of rebellious Indian freedom fighters & cunning informants who are fighting for their freedom from the British. A rebel Azaad (Bachchan) wants to out an end for British and British commander John Clive sends Firangi (Aamir), an untrustworthy thug to counter the threat. What happens then forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

Amitabh Bachchan’s brilliant performance has been a delight to watch. He has nailed his character and gave his best. The intense war scenes in which Amitabh surprises the audience with his sword fights are the highlight. Aamir Khan got a mischievous, quirky and witty role in this film and more than Aamir, we can see Firangi Mallaiah in him. He gave his 100% in justifying the role and he sure delivered a stupendous performance. Katrina Kaif is a visual feast for the glamour lovers. She looked beautiful and her killer dance moves will make us awestruck. Fatima Sana did a good job. She delivered a decent performance in the film as a warrior. She has improved a lot when compared to her previous flicks. Lloyd Owen did a great job. His performance is superb. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

The production values by Yash Raj Films are lavish and the producers have invested huge amounts to give high-quality output.

The music by Ajay-Atul is good and the background score given by John Stewart Eduri is top notch. Cinematography by Manush Nandan is awesome. His camera angles are amazing. Editing by Ritesh Soni is superb. The runtime is bearable.

The visual effects used for the film deserve applause. The biggest saving grace of the film is the visual grandeur of the film which is an absolute delight.

Writing Department:

More than the story, the way the characters are designed is boring in the film. The film appears slow and fails to impress in all the key sequences. The story has a bunch of twists and turns which are inappropriate and hence it fails to engage the audience and make them yawn throughout the movie. The relation between each character is not established properly. The director Vijay Krishna Acharya’s slow-paced narration irks us a lot.

Verdict:

The first half of the film is lengthy with almost 90 minutes.The film was made on a grand scale which is an impressive aspect. The action sequences are stunning but content wise, the film is poor. The film engages on and off and loses the pace constantly. The content is the major minus point in the movie. With a gripping less tale, the director just tried to sell off the film with its faces and after a long time a film from Aamir Khan disappoints us at the box office. On a concluding note, the film might please the single screen audiences but it completely failed in catering the hopes of the larger section of the audiences at the box office.

After introducing the lead characters of the film, the makers of much-anticipated film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ has finally unveiled the trailer for this film which is slated for a grand release on November 8th. The 3 minutes 38 seconds trailer video takes us back to 1795 AD where the British East India Company is the slowly showing their power over Indians.

In the countryside, the British are seen taking Indians as prisoners in hordes, gunning down people who are armed and burning the entire village. Then enters Azaad and his deputy Zafira, who fights the against the British. Well, the East India Company realised that it is not easy to find him and ropes in a con man, Aamir Khan as Firangi Mallah. He lands in Azaad’s den He says he wants to live with Azaad and become like Azaad but the next minute he bargains with British.

Aamir seems to be two-timing both sides but towards the end of the trailer, seems to switch sides. Katrina makes a stunning entry as Sooraiah.

The turbulent times when British is the dominating India and the quest for independence is the backdrop of the film. The intense dialogues by Amitabh Bachchan are beyond awesome. Overall, the trailer gave a visual feast and increased the expectations.

Thugs of Hindostan is the upcoming Bollywood movie that is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s novel Confessions of a Thug and the cult of the Thuggee.
