Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is basking in the glory of his team Kolkata Knight Riders victory in IPL 7, has begun reading books on Gautam Buddha’s life to help him stay calm.

The actor had been busy shooting Farah Khan’s next ‘Happy New Year’ besides cheering his team in UAE and India throughout this IPL season.

The star took to Twitter to divulge the news, “Got a set of books on the life of Gautam Buddha. Excited to start reading them so that I can calm down a bit,” Shah Rukh posted.

Meanwhile, the star joined his team at Eden Gardens in Kolkata recently to celebrate their IPL victory along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and a host of Bengali stars.

“Overwhelmed at how much love I receive. Makes me want to give my all in the service of making people smile. Hope I have enough to give for long,’ he tweeted.

Shah Rukh and his team were felicitated by the CHief MInister and they were met with a thundeing response by the crowd. There were over 100,000 people at the Eden Gardens that day.

About one lakh fans turned up at the Eden Gardens to celebrate Kolkata Knight Riders’s triumph in IPL 7.

Bollywood actor and franchise owner Shah Rukh Khan failed to reach the venue on time because of a technical snag in flight.

“Sorry Kolkata technical snag on flight. Will be a bit late but will be there. Apologies,” tweeted SRK

“Kolkata bound. Delay in flight but will make it … Insha Allah nothing can stop us now,” SRK tweeted when the issue was sorted.

While about 60,000 people managed to enter the stadium thousands jostled in the surrounding Maidan area to gain entry which was ‘free’ but only with ‘complimentary passes’ from police stations in the metropolis.

The stadium authorities opened the gates at 11:00 am to enable supporters to enter well ahead of the start of the programme scheduled at 1:00 pm, which was delayed.

People started queueing up at Eden Gardens from as early as 9:00 am as all roads led there.

Police had to wield lathis to disperse the crowd with the help of the Mounted Police.

The scenes with women and children jostling, resembled KKR’s victory celebration two years ago at the same venue.

Singer Usha Uthup sang popular Bollywood chartbusters to keep the spectators engaged till the arrival of KKR.

Taking a cue from PM Narendra Modi’s hugely successful ‘Ab Ki Baar…’ campaign, she sang a new theme song — ‘Ab ki baar KKR, Baar baar KKR, Baar baar chhukka maar’ — to the delight of spectators.

There were a host of Bengali film and TV industry celebrities in attendance as well.

Well, the cricketing extravaganza IPL may not have been that popular throughout this season, but its ending sure was!

 

Shah Rukh Khan, who was one among the very few to have cast vote making arrangements to travel a day later to IIFA awards, cracked a witty joke on the concept of voting. The actor known for his dry sense of humour went ahead and tweeted to all his fans

“Most times I don’t even get to choose the channel I want to watch on TV. Today I have an opportunity to choose my country’s future. Awesome!” – read the statement.

A lot of Bollywood celebrities actively voted yesterday, flaunting their inked index fingers all over the social network. However, the voting turnout for Mumbai was rather poor, as compared to Chennai. Celebs like Big B, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, John Abraham etc., were seen voting at various polling booths.

While these celebs stay out, the others like Malaika Arora, Sonakshi Sinha, Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Yami Gautam skipped voting, thanks to travelling to Tampa Bay early to preside over IIFA awards.

Polling in Mumbai began at 7 AM yesterday for the final phase of the Lok Sabha Elections in Maharashtra. As many as 338 candidates are testing electoral waters in 19 Lok Sabha seats.

Shah Rukh Khan is most likely to leave for IIFA shortly. The award ceremony that flaunts glamour, fashion, celeb mania to the highest level is a rage among both the actors as well as the masses. The Badshah of Bollywood also shook a leg with Kohli, MS Dhoni and Deepika Padukone at the opening ceremony creating sensation to a grand start of the new season.

It has to be noted that Anushka Sharma made her debut in Bollywood opposite SRK himself in the movie, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The actress was spotted numerous times with Virat Kohli at various places by the paparazzi. Though the couple denies any relationship, it is pretty obvious that this looks more than a friendship to many.

It is quite one thing to fix matches for money, it is indeed another to turn a real ‘match fixer’ for cricketers! Way to go, Shah Rukh Khan!

Vaani Kapoor, who made an impressive start with Shudh Desi Romance and Tamil film Aaha Kalyanam, was considered among the leading ladies to be cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Fan. However, the film makers stated that the decision has not yet been made final. Vaani, who starred as a second lead in Shudh Desi Romance made a commendable entry into Bollywood. Aaha Kalyanam, a remake of Band Baaja Baarat, saw her also follow up the debut with a good second film. However, the reports of whether she will star opposite the Bollywood Badshah are yet to be confirmed.

“There are reports that Vaani will feature opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Fan, to be produced by Yash Raj Films. The leading actress has not been finalised for Fan” sources said PTI without further details.

The other front runners who are being considered for the role are Parineeti Chopra and Anushka Sharma. Both the actresses are also the busiest stars in Bollywood off late.

Fan, directed by Maneesh Sharma of ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ fame, will see SRK playing an uncanny role – of a fan. Hollywood star make up artist Greg Cannom had been roped in by the production to work on SRK’s look in the film. This will be an exhaustive make up ever sported by Shah Rukh in his career.

The film that will be produced by Aditya Chopra will see shooting commence from May. More details on the other cast and crew in the film to be announced by the film unit shortly.

Hollywood technicians and Indian films share a certain camaraderie. This was proved in the past and trending actively with most of the big tickets in the Country. Yash Raj Films is now following suit and has roped in none other than Greg Cannon, as Oscar winning make up artist to develop the new look for Shah Rukh Khan in his upcoming film, Fan.

The film with this catchy title actually will have SRK playing the role of a ‘fan’ – literally.. While this sounds exciting and curious at the same time, the film makers have not revealed much about the role yet. Greg will be extensively designing the look for Shah Rukh to this effect. The film, to be directed by Maneesh Sharma of ‘Band Baaja Baarat’ fame, will start filming from July.

Cannon held some long discussions with SRK, Maneesh and producer Aditya Chopra at the YRF Studio yesterday to conclude the final action plan with regards to the make up. Greg Cannon won three Oscars and was nominated as many as nine times for the same, was the man behind the look of Brad Pitt in  ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, Robbin Williams in ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ and the make up behind ‘Dracula’. This for itself speaks about the skill quotient of the technician.

Talking about the project and hiring Greg, Maneesh said in a statement – “We are attempting a never seen before look for Shah Rukh which will be both challenging and exciting for the viewer. Understandably, this will be kept under wraps until the first look of the film is revealed” he said.

The announcement on rest of the cast and crew is yet to be made.
