Sachin: A Billion Dreams is the biopic of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. If one thought cricket is in itself a religion in India, then he would be considered a ‘God’ by many. There is a craze among cricket fans, who went to the extent of ‘unfollowing’ cricket after he retired. This craze was in a way recorded in the anthem of the movie, composed by AR Rahman titled ‘Sachin, Sachin’. There is a reason this is goosebumps-inducing listen.

The anthem is actually the crowd at a stadium chanting Sachin’s name when he walks towards the pitch. Actor Rakul Preet interviewed this legendary sportsperson, and she is on cloud nine!

Legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and star actors Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna became a partner of Indian Super League football side Kerala Blasters. A consortium of investors, including megastars Chiranjeevi and Akkineni Nagarjuna, leading film producer Allu Arvind and industrialist and serial entrepreneur Nimmagadda Prasad have joined hands to buy a stake in Blasters Sports Pvt. Ltd., the owners of Kerala Blasters.

The new investors in Kerala Blasters were unveiled at a ceremony today. According to reports, Sachin will continue to be a co-owner with Kerala Blasters, holding a significant stake. The new co-owners of Kerala Blasters were responsible for the turnaround of MAA Television Network Ltd.

Kerala Blasters franchise is the first investment in the growing sports business in the country for this consortium. In a symbolic gesture, Sachin Tendulkar, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Allu Arvind and Nimmagadda Prasad signed a football sporting the Kerala Blasters logo.

Today, Sachin and all the new co-owners met Kerala Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan at the state secretariat. They also had a meeting with Kerala Football Association President K M I Mather.

Stand-up comedian and co-founder of All India Bakchod (AIB) Tanmay Bhat has been widely trolled on Twitter for posting a video clip, which allegedly disrespected the veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar and legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Actually, Tanmay Bhat has transposed his face in the video with that of the two well-admired personalities and created a fictitious conversation amid them. Then he shared this video on his official social networking accounts. Since then he has been receiving all sorts of backlash from Sachin and Lata Mangeshkar’s fans, who treat them nothing less than the god.

In the video, the representational characters of Mangeshkar and Tendulkar can be seen having what seems to be an unpleasant chat. While imitating Mangeshkar, Tanmay Bhat said that cricketer Virat Kohli was better than Sachin Tendulkar. The comedian on this retort to the ace singer said, “You are 5,000 years old…” while playing out the character of Tendulkar. The video has gone viral now with 313,000 views on Facebook.

While Twitteratis lashed out at Tanmay for mocking the two idols, with people calling the video offensive and not even funny, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has warned of action against the comedian, principally famous among youth, and got an FIR lodged against him.

This is not the first time the AIB comedian has faced such wrath of the social media users. He recently sparked outrage by posting a YouTube video on May 20 on the necessity of feminism. In 2015, he attracted backlash after being a part of the AIB Knockout Roast. Well, the much awaited teaser of the biopic of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, titled ‘Sachin A Billion Dreams’, has been released and it is sure to give goosebumps to fans.

Sachin himself features in this documentary movie based on his cricketing journey and personal life. The teaser has Sachin’s voiceover and few visuals of him. The teaser justifies Tendulkar as “From a wild child to a virtuous hero, one man united his country”.

The documentary was shot for a period of 3 years in five countries. The biopic has been directed by acclaimed filmmaker James Erskine. The shooting was completed few days ago at the famous Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the place from where Sachin Tendulkar started his journey.
