The Shehenshah of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan is in the City of Joy, whilst he shoots for his upcoming film PIKU with director Shoojit SIrcar. And if his Twitter newsfeed is anything to go by, then we must say that the megastar is having a gala time in Kolkata.

Amitabh Bachchan is one star who is very active on all social networks, and while he is busy shooting for PIKU, he does make sure that he lets his Twitterati know what he is up to.

“In ‘PIKU land’!! Too many memories flashing by as the drive from the airport ends. but so much more to come in the days ahead Kolkata shall always hold a special place and space within .. a ‘city of joy’ that energises you with intellect and passion !!”

On Sunday Morning, Sr Bachchan was spotted riding a bicycle on the roads of the city in a carefree manner. Amit ji tweeted,“Cycling through the main streets of Kolkata, camera and crowds following .. what a transition .. ! Once strode these for a job !!”.

Sharing the very first pic, Amitji showed all, his PIKU avatar on Twitter. “’PIKU’ by Ef .. .. pic.twitter.com/UCBvlMn7Zw ”.

The latest pic shows him on a bicycle, wearing kurta, trousers, sweater, sneakers and a hat. The effect is added to the pic adds more to the drama.

PIKU is still in its shooting stage and is expected to release in April next year.

The glittering Megastar and Shehenshah of tinselville, Amitabh Bachchan has a deep-rooted connect with the City of Joy, Kolkata and the superstar is delighted to visit the city again for the second leg of Shoojit Sircar’s Piku.

We know Sr Bachchan is an avid blogger and pens his thoughts everyday. In his recent blog Amitji got reminiscent of the days he spent in Kolkata, where he worked as an executive for seven years, before he stepped foot in the Bollywood Industry.

“I see some cut and edited scenes from Piku with Shoojit as we discuss the next schedule in Kolkata, Delhi and Gujarat, a longish outdoor. Kolkata shall bring back old memories of my seven year stint as an executive in a company. It shall bring back the films shot there. The love and the passion of Bengal is overwhelming. Whenever in doubt or discomfort of your disposition, visit Kolkata. The people shall pick you up as their own and fill you with their cheer and affection. Always,” Mr Bachchan posted on his blog.

Shoojit’s Piku has a huge star cast and along with Shehenshah it also stars Irrfan Khan, Deepika Padukone, Moushumi Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta. It is the tale that explores the father and daughter relationship between Bachchan and Padukone’s characters. The second leg of shooting is to commence soon in Kolkata.

Shehenshah of tinselville, Amitabh Bachchan has been always been very hard-working and professional. And there are tales about Amit Ji’s professionalism. Living up to it, Big B, started working upon Shoojit Sircar’s Piku, right after he was back from Jaipur.

The Bachchans- Amitabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Aaradhya, were at Jaipiur, hooting for Abhishek’s team Jaipur Pink Panthers. And as soon as the star got back, he was set for another challenge.

“Back to Mumbai… in a couple of hours to face another challenge… the camera for Shoojit’s film,” he posted on his blog srbachchan.tumblr.com. We all know he is an avid blog writer; Big B lets his fans know about whatever runs through his mind.

Sr Bachchan has worked with Shoojit Sircar in a film called Shoebite, which couldn’t find a release. So this is the second time that Bachchan Sr and Shoojit are working together. Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan star in lead roles and Dips, for the second time in her career, plays Amit Ji’s daughter in the film. Deepika played his daughter in Aarakshan too.

The film is slated to release April 30th, 2015!

Time and again, there have been many celebrities who are seen giving their best shot for their films.

Such is the level of commitment that some even go on to wait for years working on their looks for their respective films.

That seems to be the case with Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan as well. They are undergoing workshops for their respective roles in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’.

Big B may be by far the most iconic star-actor of our cinema. That doesn’t stop him from undertaking rehearsals like a newcomer for ‘Piku’ where the mega-star will share screen space with Irrfan Khan for the first time.

Though Irrfan’s schedules too are choc-a-bloc, he’ll be shooting simultaneously in Mumbai and LA. He too has agreed to participate in the acting workshops for Piku.

A source close to the project says, “This is the first time when Irrfan would be sharing screen space with the Big B. He’s understandably excited and challenged. He asked Shoojit to create a comfort level between the two specially since the Big B and Irrfan share very intense dramatic sequences in ‘Piku’.”

Shoojit says it wasn’t easy getting the actors to spare time for the workshops. “Bachchan Saab, Irrfan, Deepika and Jisshu Sengupta are all extremely busy actors. But they had absolutely no hesitation in slicing precious meat out of their fat schedules to go through the rehearsals.”

Shoojit believes workshops are specially important in this film.
“It is a very real drama, the emotions are not cinematic. The feelings expressed have to be absolutely authentic. Luckily I’ve actors who are more than willing to surrender completely to the project.They have been told that we cannot start shooting unless we do the workshops. They’re all joining me for workshops for a couple of weeks before we begin shooting.”, added Shoojit.

‘Piku’ stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan Khan and Jisshu Sengupta in the lead roles.

The shooting for the film will being at the end of July.
