There are rumors in the media that director Gunasekhar is going to team up with Rana Daggubati next for an exciting project titled as Hiranyakashyapa. The film’s director Gunasekhar today broke silence on the project and revealed that the pre-production work is completed.

The film unit almost spent 3 years on the pre-production and they are ready to hit the floors now. Rana will play the title role and the following is the official announcement from Gunasekhar.

Veteran director Gunasekhar has been far from the director’s chair after the success of Rudrama Devi. After all these years, he has now started his next and the details of it as follows.

He was seen lately in the sacred place of Tirumala, and he was questioned about his next. Cool Guna Sekhar said it in a rather clear tone that he is currently working on a script. He is determined to make a movie on the famous story of Bhakta Prahlada on a huge canvas. He assured that the movie will be as big as Rudrama Devi in all the aspects. This high budget film maker revealed that he did come to visit Lord Venkateswara Swamy to seek his blessings to start the pre-production work of his next.

However, he didn’t reveal anything about the lead cast and crew. He did say that the movie will be bankrolled by his home banner Guna Team Works.

Director Guna Sekhar, who is one of the very few directors in Tollywood to have the audacity to make high budget epics, has surprised everyone by announcing his next project ‘Hiranyakashipa.’

In fact, after making the biopic of ‘Rudramadevi’, Guna had earlier announced his plans of making a film on the last notable Kakatiya ruler, Prataparudrudu. However, he seems to have changed his mind after the not so encouraging performance of Rudramadevi. Guna has recently revealed that he has started the scripting of Hiranyakashipa.

It is heard that Guna is planning to rope in one among Rana Daggubati, Allu Arjun, and NTR to essay the titular role. He has three choices, but his first option is said to be NTR. If the Nandamuri hero agrees then pooling resources would become very easy for Guna.

However, going by how cautious NTR has become after the success of Janatha Garage, it would be a herculean task for Guna to convince NTR. Getting his dates would require another monumental effort.

Top director Gunasekhar has been missing from limelight ever since the release of his high-budget historical 3D film ‘Rudramadevi’.

He did not make any announcement over the collections of the movie or his future projects. After few months of sabbatical, Guna is back with a call for assistants. He called for experienced and apprentice assistant directors for his future films.

There have been rumors that he will make a film on either the story of Prathapa Rudhrudu as shown at the end of ‘Rudramadevi’ film or ‘Gona Ganna Reddy’ who was responsible for the success of his film in the first place.

Considering the result of Rudramadevi, it is uncertain whether he can find producers for his ambitious venture, though.

Tollywood Director Gunasekhar will be awarded the KV Reddy Award 2015 for his contribution towards Telugu Cinema here in Prasad’s Labs on 13th December at 6 PM.

Dasari Narayana Rao, Akkineni Ramesh Prasad, Ashwini Dutt, Manisharma, Paruchuri Brothers and Tanikella Bharani will attend the function as chief guests.

Gunasekhar, who made ‘Rudhramadevi’ possible, directed the film only because of his interest and initiative towards the history. This film was made on a huge budget of 80Cr and was produced by Gunasekhar himself.

After having a successful debut film with ‘Laati’ in 1992, Guna went on to make super hits like Sogasu Chooda Tharama, Bala Ramayanam, Choodalani Vundi, Manoharam, Okkadu and Arjun. Since 2004 to 2015, whatever films did Guna made, were rejected by the Telugu audience.

He, who thought of changing his style of film-making, did the first 3D Stereoscopic Historical Film ‘Rudhramadevi.’ This film was received well all across the south and earned him much fame than any of his previous films gave.

For his immense contribution towards Telugu Cinema, Gunasekhar will receive the 2015 KV Reddy Award along with his family.

Anushka Shetty’s historical drama Film ‘Rudhramaevi’, which was scheduled for release on 4th September, was postponed again and the new release date is not yet announced. This is not the first time that this movie got postponed and lead actress Anushka, is heard to be very angry over director Guna Sekhar for killing the movie in just labs.

Guna Sekhar cited the reason of pending post production for the delay. Anushka has worked hard for this film and she hopes to see the result on screen but Gunasekhar is battling with financial issues and is unable to get good prices to release this film. Despite Allu Arjun acted for free, Rana took lesser remuneration and Dil Raju offered big sum for Nizam rights, still Guna Sekhar’s financial troubles are not over.

Tollywood senior actor Suman filed a complaint on director Gunasekhar for cheque bounce on today at Nampally Police Station. As per the reports Suman played an important role in Guna Sekhar’s forthcoming film “Rudhramadevi” and for that producer cum director of the movie Gunasekhar has given a cheque of Rs 5 lakhs to Suman, but that cheque has bounced. After that Suman contacted the director but Suman didn’t get the proper response from Guna Sekhar. So, Suman approached the police. More details are awaited.
