All Star Cast for Bangalore Days remake!

Bangalore Days was a mega hit in Mollywood and is still running quite successfully, so it came as no surprise when it was announced that there would be remakes of the flick coming soon to Tamil and Telugu fans as well. The movie was a refreshing one and based on the ‘youth experience’, so it made sense that it would have a cross cultural appeal.

Bangalore-Days-Tamil-Cast

Besides, the real element of success was that the movie had a star studded cast in Malayalam with the all the young stars like Dulquer Salman, Nivin Pauly, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim and Parvathy Menon. Even the sensational Nithya Menon had a small but pivotal role.

So now the big question is who are the stars to replace them in the Tamil/Telugu versions! Speculations began almost immediately but now at least we have a list of contenders who are in play right now for the lead roles.

The possible ‘all star cast’ of the remakes might include Arya, Siddharth, Prasanna, Naga Chaithanya and the ever so popular and gorgeous Samantha Ruth Prabhu!

It is to be noted that all these names have loyal fan followings among both Tamil and Telugu audiences, so it looks like this is a wise selection by the makers.

The makers of the remake, by the way, are PVP Cinemas who acquired the rights from the production house of the original – Anwar Rasheed Entertainment.

The director of the remake will be Bhaskar of Bommarillu fame. Bommarillu was the original Telugu version of the Jayam Ravi – Genelia starrer Santhosh Subramaniam.

So now the fans have the unpleasant wait ahead of them until we have official confirmation about the cast and further details are revealed about the crew.

Who, for example, will be scoring the tunes in the new versions? The original soundtrack by Gopi Sunder was a hit, so will he be asked to reprise his role here?

Bangalore Days getting a Hindi remake too!

Anjali Menon must be getting bored on cloud nine by now, after all, she’s been up there forever!

Bangalore-Days-Hindi-Remake

Bangalore Days is the biggest hit in Malayalam history beating Drishyam or soon will be, and film makers are queuing up to remake the film in other languages! What more could the director/writer ask for?!

We recently learned that PVP Films owned by Prakash V Potluri bagged the nationwide remake rights of the film and we were promised a Tamil/Telugu bilingual remake of the flick first. Then came the exciting news that Arya, Bharath and Samantha will be the ones replacing the original star cast from Malayalam!

Now there are more updates on.. well, everything!

It seems the bilingual may become two separate films altogether – one in Tamil and the other in Telugu – each with its own star studded cast. This is a possibility that excites the audiences of both industries.

Samantha, in any case, said she’s thrilled to be onboard the project. And guess who’s replacing Fahadh, folks.. it’s none other than Siddharth Narayan!

Director Bhaskar of Bommarilu fame is the man chosen to be at the helm.

Also, now there’s going to be a Bollywood remake!

Oh yeah, it seems the biggies in Mumbai are in stiff competition to direct the flick. Of course Bangalore may change to Mumbai in the flick, and some would think this would jeopardize the whole plot which revolves around Malayali youths in the Garden City.

But the market gurus are sure that the themes of the movie have a pan India appeal and can withstand the change and some other tweaks while retaining the essence of the original super hit!

And to think all this from a movie with a budget of Rs 9 crores or so (which it made back in three days by the way) made in this small industry of ours!

Way to go Anjali Menon! You certainly have proved that there is such a thing as the Midas touch.

Nivin Pauly to have a ‘modern’ makeover!

Nivin Pauly is having the time of his life as far as his career goes with one huge hit after another. With Bangalore Days heading for epic block buster status and breaking records along the way, Nivin is already busy with another projects.

Nivin-Pauly-New-Look

One notable one among them is the yet untitled film he is signing up for under the direction of debutant director Shibu Anthikkad. Shibu has so far been prolific only in ad film direction and this all out entertainer of a love story will be his first venture in to the world of feature films.

“This will be a practical love story,” says Shibu about his movie and he also adds that the intent of the movie will be to thrill and “make the fans forget about their real life worries” for the duration of the viewing.

The flick has another major feature of interest going for it as well – Nivin Pauly’s makeover!

Yes, the actor who usually plays the semi urban, boy next door persona in his films will be undergoing a radical change ‘looks – wise’ in this one – a totally modern one at that!

He did do a minor (albeit funny) version of it in Bangalore Days, though it only lasted for a short while in the story.

The project in question here will launch around December, and it will have a total of five songs in it, composed by Ratheesh Vega. Shreya Ghosal will lend her voice for some of it.

The major locations where the shooting will take place has been set to Bangalore, France, Coorg and the Andamans.

Nivin is also playing a pivotal but small role in Rajesh Pillai’s Amala Paul starrer Mili. Well, to the busier than ever Nivin we say, good luck and keep ’em coming!

English subtitles for Bangalore Days from today!

Anjali Menon’s Bangalore Days is the biggest crowd pulling attraction of 2014 so far, and the audiences have unanimously embraced the multi starrer entertainer without reserve. Not just that the fans of the movie seem to be crossing language barriers and apparently the filmmakers have decided to oblige them – so the movie is getting English subtitles on every screen starting today, June 6!

Bangalore-Days

Yes, its true – the flick raked in over Rs 6.5 crores on its opening weekend itself, and that was on an international scale without the subtitles!

Eager fans had asked for the trailer to be re released with English subs and it did happen, so now it looks like its prime time for the producers to usher in more crowds with this strategic move. After all, the stars in the movie do have a fandom that crosses state lines and the movie’s plot and narrative style has a certain universal youth appeal to it also.

Gopi Sunder’s pop infused north meets south music and Anjali Menon’s scripting of the dialogues, which are not too wordy and rely mostly on timing and tone, lend themselves perfectly to be subtitled for audiences unfamiliar with Malayalam.

Besides, the whole of the movie is set in Bangalore, which is the melting pot of the south when it comes to diversity in youth cultures!

Dulquer Salman, one of the leads in the film tweeted this regarding this exciting development:

“#Bangalore Days now with English subtitles !! By Friday in all theaters ! Bring your friends !! Spread the cheer to even non Malayalees !!”

Mollywood sweetheart and another leading lady of the trendsetting hit movie, added this:

“#Bangalore Days shows will have English subtitles from tomorrow in all theaters!!!!!”

So to you non Malayali fans – it’s your lucky day, what are you waiting for? Get them tickets now!

Mollywood releases this weekend!

This weekend too is a big one for Mollywood fans, with the release of three rather unique flicks – two of them big budget, highly anticipated ones!

Malayalam-Movies-Releasing-on-May30

Yes, we are talking about the two biggies – Anjali Menon’s Bangalore Days coming out this Friday on the 30th and Srinath Rajendran’s Koothara, now known for its extended villainous cameo by Mohanlal, which will hit the big screens this Saturday, the 31st!

Bangalore Days will screen outside Kerala with English subtitles, so that’s a cue for you non Malayali fans – get your tickets before they’re all gone! And this one is sure to have a tremendous opening day as just the Youtube trailer has got over 800,000 views. The promotional team of the star studded flick which focused on interactive tactics through the social media sure did their job right and the array of popular stars in the film including Dulquer Salman, Nazriya Nazim, Nivin Pauly, Fahadh Faasil, Nithya Menon, Isha Talwar and Parvathy Menon did their part in hyping up the big day too.

Koothara team went a different way and focused their promotion on Mohanlal’s unique look and role in the film which stars Bharath, Sunny Wayne, Tovino Thomas, Bhavana and others, has found its excited fans who are waiting for the release too. We’ll have to wait and see how this one does in direct competition with Bangalore Days.

The underdog of the day is M B Padmakumar’s My Life Partner which stars Ameer Niyaz, Sudev Nair and Anusree Nair, and tells the story of the deep, emotional attachment between two men mixed in with events and characters that give the plot drama, romance and thrills. The movie marketed and hyped as the first movie in Malayalam that deals with or at least talks about the ‘forbidden’ social and human issue that is homosexuality, is a bold creation at first glance from debutant director Padmakumar. Let’s hope it finds its audience too and not get squashed under the wars of the big brand giants like Bangalore Days and Koothara.

This fresh venture comes out on this Friday (May 30) too!

So that’s it folks, clear your weekend and get ready for some popcorn and some good old fashioned movie magic!

Bangalore Days Release Postponed?

Anjali Menon’s star studded entertainer Bangalore Days was to release on May 23 but unconfirmed reports now say that the movie might come out later on May 30 only!

Bangalore-Days-Release-Postponed

The postponing of the date is rumored to have a variety of reasons behind it including the release of Rajnikanth’s epic movie Kochadaiiyaan and the surprise hit that’s taking up theatre space everywhere in Kerala since last weekend – Manju Warrier’s comeback movie How Old Are You directed by Rosshan Andrrews!

While the reports have not been verified with either Anjali or the cast and crew of the movie, the reasons seem plausible enough. While How Old Are You was expected to do moderately well at best, the sensation it has become is truly amazing.

Bangalore Days too is highly anticipated and it makes sense box office wise to give the movie and the audience the time they deserve to maximize the initial rush. This becomes important considering the opening weekend’s word of mouth reviews have a lot to do with its final box office performance.

Anjali Menon wrote and directed this movie which stars Dulquer Salman, Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim in the lead with an impressive supporting cast which includes big names like Fahadh Fasil, Isha Talwar, Parvathy Menon and Nithya Menon along with a host of other veteran actors.

The story revolves around three friends Arjun (Aju), Krishnan and Divya who set out to fulfill a dream vacation in Bangalore during which inadvertently their dreams and hopes are challenged and hopefully brought to fruition. A light hearted, youthful and inspiring narrative as promised by the trailer and the released song sequence of the movie – both of which have thrilled the fans and boosted the hype surrounding the flick.

In fact, the excitement felt by the fandom by large could be evidenced by the fact non Malayali audience members requested the same trailer with added English subtitles and the crew obliged!

So clearly, the audience waits eagerly for the release of the film, whichever date its makers choose…

Nithya Menon without make up in Bangalore Days

Nithya Menon, became quite popular in the industry in a very short span of time because of her unique blend of talent and petite and beautiful looks, and it seems the young starlet is set to cross another barrier in her career as she is appearing in Anjali Menon’s star studded Bangalore Days without make up!

Nithya-Without-Makeup-in-Bangalore

Though it’s a cameo appearance, it seems Nithya is a favorite of Anjali’s because she approached the actress with one of the lead roles in the movie at first but couldn’t make it work due to Nithya’s busy schedule. Then the persistent director/writer of the flick roped in the talented star to do a cameo which even appears in the trailer of the movie.

The trailer itself has gotten the fans excited to the point that the non Malayali fans asked the crew to release the trailer with English subtitles, which they generously did. Talk about anticipation!

The plot of the movie, as revealed by the trailer, revolves around three friends played by Dulquer, Nivin and Nazriya who plan and carry out a dream vacation in Bangalore which then becomes the platform for events that see all their life and romantic dreams become dramatic reality.

The feel of the movie is that of a feel good entertainer with a light hearted narrative and new generation mode of storytelling.

The rest of the cast of the movie holds several big names including Fahad Fazil, Isha Talwar, Parvathy Menon and also, veteran actors like Praveena, Vijayaraghavan, Maniampilla Raju and Kalpana among others.

The film is slated for release on May 23.

Bangalore Days Official trailer

The crew of Bangalore Days had promised its fans that it would be releasing its official trailer today and they did!

The full length trailer of the movie shows three lifelong friends Aju (Dulquar), Divya (Nazriya) and Krishnan (Nivin) who speak of fulfilling a dream of theirs to go to Bangalore for a vacation of a lifetime and making memories. Aju comments, “Bangalore… what a rocking city!” while a reluctant Krishnan argues, “ Our ‘ooru’ is Kerala not Bangalore”.

The narration in the trailer is by Krishnan, Nivin’s character, who describes Aju as the troublemaker, Divya as the traditional girl and himself as the teetotaler (with a hidden twinkle of course;) ).

What follows is a series of scenes of them enjoying life and a rather serious spouse (?) played by Fahad telling Divya that this was Bangalore, not Kerala.

There is a hint that Aju’s major goal or passion involves motorcycle racing, showcased in the sneak peek with some spirited reproach from a coach of sorts. There are also short glimpses of other stars in the flick like Nithya Menon, Isha Talwar and Parvathy Menon.

bangalore days 4

The visuals look stunning as does the background score that blends in seamlessly. Anjali Menon’s movie trailer however winds up with a meaningful quote by one of the friends – There is a thing called destiny and it cannot be stopped by anyone.

Fans wait eagerly for May 9.

Bangalore Days Wedding Song Out!

The hugely anticipated movie Bangalore Days directed by Anjali Menon is all set for its release on May 9 and now they have released the video of one of its songs titled Maangalyam! The apt title shows an intriguing part of the movie which is Nazriya getting ready for her wedding with her mehndi and Dulquar showing up to celebrate with her.

Bangalore-Days

As he glances around the decorations and bustling relatives, he finds an excited, clean shaven Nivin Pauly already there taping the joyous affair on his handy cam. The two friends hug each other and then, on seeing Dulquar, a thrilled Nazriya too runs to him, hugs him (much to the chagrin of her family) and here begins our song!

Though the family is a little concerned with the obvious display of friendship between the three, the jubilant trio soon turn them around and the song winds in to pure, spirited and of course, dancing, festivity. The choreography has been well executed and conceived and the visuals are ‘fresh’ and colourful.

Bangalore-Days-Wedding-Song

The song has definitely found its fans and is already ruling the charts in Mollywood this week, and quite cleverly has done its part in building up an intrigue about the plot – is it a story about a friendship that defies odds or as advertised, does it take a turn for the romantic?

Guess we have to wait for the big day… and sincerely hope the release of Kochadaiiyaan on the same day doesn’t hurt this one’s opening day collections – though in Kerala, one can see Dulquar, Nazriya and Nivin making a strong stand against the animated Superstar himself!
