5 Risky Casting Decisions !

‘One’s loss is another’s gain!’ seems to be an age-old practice in Bollywood.

While there are some who put in their heart and soul to get a certain project, some just get it because of others’ rejections.

Here’s a list of people who were initially approached for a certain project which was later signed on by someone else and did absolute wonders with it:

1) Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Dhoom 3’:

The multi-crore, ambitious action venture had a lot of names being considered for it. The badshah of Bollywood had an upper hand ever since the casting decisions began. However, it was Aamir khan-the perfectionist who was eventually signed on for the project and delivered a stellar performance, indeed.

2) Kareena Kapoor for ‘RamLeela’:

Kareena was earlier signed on for the role of ‘Leela’ which was later essayed by Deepika Padukone. ‘Date issues’ was the reason she cited for moving out of the project. However, she later went on to do ‘Gori Tere Pyar Mein’ under Dharma Productions which was a huge debacle.

3) Shahid Kapoor for ‘Rockstar’:

What went to be a huge career-booster for Ranbir Kapoor was first offered to Shahid. Back then, he was shooting for Shaad ali’s untitled project which is why he opted out of ‘Rockstar’ . The untitled project was, however, shelved after a few weeks of shoot. It was clearly a case of ‘losing all ends’ for Shahid there!

4) Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for ‘Heroine’:

The casting of this movie was a roller coaster ride in itself. Kareena was the original choice for the film which was later signed by Aishwarya. However, due to her pregnancy Aishwarya walked out of the film forcing the makers to eventually get Kareena aboard.

5) Johnny Depp in ‘Pirates of the Carribean series’:

Faced with the task of adapting a theme park ride for family audiences, the sensible thing would have been to gamble on a safer bet. Instead, Depp whose box office results refelected inconsistency, got the gig. An overnight transformation in his demeanour got him his first Oscar nomination.

Dhoom 3 to be more exciting – Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan in Dhoom

Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who will be reprising his famous role of Jai Dixit in the third part of Dhoom franchise, says that this one would be more intense and exciting than the previous two.

“Dhoom 3, i feel, is the most different ‘Dhoom’ from the previous two outings. With the third part, we pushed the ante, thus making it edgier. This part is not just about fun and frolic, which the first two parts were known for. It’s more intense” he said, talking to IANS.

Dhoom 3 stars Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Aamir Khan in the main leads, with Aamir being the main attraction of the pre-release talk. The perfectionist will be seen playing the coveted villain, after John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan.

Abhishek said it would be tough for him to choose his favorite villain among the three – “I enjoyed working with each and every one of them. With John it was special because we were just starting out and with Hrithik it was wonderful because we were childhood friends. Finally, with Aamir, i feel richer as an actor after working with him”, he said.

The trailer promotions look promising and the film is geared up for a Worldwide release this weekend, with many Dhoom fans waiting with bated breath to catch the action.
