Risk is one big aspect that every filmmaker or producer avoid and hesitate to give it a chance. Some writers or directors pitch a story with lot of versatility in it which ultimately seems commercially not viable. No producer invest such a big amounts purely believing director or an actor on such subjects with a lot of risk factor. As said in many press meets and interviews, writer turned director Rajasimha Tadinada’s Oka Ammayi Thappa script was rejected by many producers many times. It is touted to be a love and thriller story based on a traffic jam on a crowded flyover. Ultimately, he got to convince some investors and happened to make a film with Sundeep Kishan, who received zero paycheck and yet did to quench the thirst of his passion and Nithya Menon, with a cut in het paycheck. It is releasing today in theatres with a huge promotions. Let’s see how it works on us!!

Story

Aslam (Rahul Dev) is a terrorist who is caught and jailed in Challapalli Jail. To free him from the Police and take him back to Pakistan Anwar (Ravi Kishan) sketches a plan for a bomb blast on High Tech flyover where Traffic is jammed due to lorry accidents on both the sides of the flyover. Krishna Vachan is a happy go lucky boy who loves a girl during his childhood with a flag. When he is on the way to an atm, he stucks on the flyover due to that traffic jam. Nithya (Nithya Menon) is forced to get into marital relationship for which bride seeing ceremony is held by her grandmother. She, in order to avoid that ceremony leaves her car and start in a share auto and got stuck in the traffic on flyover. How the terrorist group execute their plan and How Krishna and Mango becomes involved in this plan forms the rest of the story.

Cast and Performance

Sundeep Kishan as Krishna Vachan is perfect fit. He did a fantastic job as a lover who do anything for his lover. He did his part convincingly. Nithya Menon also did a nice job. But this movie do not give much scope to show her acting caliber. Throughout the movie she is shown sitting in a share auto. Ravi Kishan did a fine job, but the voice dubbed for him is very loud which spoils the mood. Ali is good and is the only comedian who is able to evoke some laughter in the first half. Venu Tillu, Fish Venkat, Saptagiri and others fails to generate comedy as the scenes written for them are weak. Other actors did fine job.

Writing Department

Story of the movie is nice and interesting. Dialogues are good. But it’s mediocre screenplay spoils the interest.

Technical Departments

Music by Mickey J Meyer is good. Kotha Kathale and Yegirene songs are my picks. They are also good visually. Background music is good and some times it made us feel its existence. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is excellent. He has shown the locales of Kashmir in Yegirene song beautifully. Editing is just okay. Production values are good.

Verdict

A childhood love story between Krishna Vachan and Mango which is not so effective and also fails to generate necessary depth. It then shifts to lives of Krishna Vachan and Mango and situations that lead them to the flyover and got stuck there. A love story starts on flyover which is pale in terms of believability and some comic scenes involving Sapthagiri which makes audience goes cluesless on how to react. This first half makes audience bored to core and it only becomes interesting in the interval scene as it is the mucj needed bang after so much of disengaging scenes and comedy. Second half is also has nothing better than first half in terms of content and screenplay. Preclimax and Climax can be said as crux of the movie. Director and writer Rajasimha Tadinada has dones a negligible job with this movie. He added love and comedy to a thriller movie like “A Wednesday” which is very pale. Movie having this type of story needs a water tight and gripping screenplay to make audience glued to the screen. Director failed to handle screenplay which makes its a boring ride. Young Tollywood hero Sundeep Kishan’s latest film ‘Oka Ammayi Thappa’ is all set to release worldwide on June 10.

Sundeep is currently busy doing everything he could to promote “Oka Ammayi Thappa”. The film has talented actress Nithya Menon playing lead actress but the surprising part is that she has been missing from promotions. Nithya Menon hasn’t turned up for the promotions for even a single day.

There are rumors spread that Nithya was not paid her full remuneration hence she’s not attending the film’s promotions. Sundeep, however, refuted this when quizzed about Nithya’s absence and said that she is busy with the shooting of her Kannada movie, and she will promote Oka Ammayi Thappa after the film’s release once she is free from the shooting.

Story

Sanjay/Sanju (Sundeep Kishan) is an IT professional who lost his job in recession and is in a constant search of job. He borrows money from Vaddi Raja (Bobby Simha) for his sister’s marriage for high interest rate. As he is a jobless guy he is unable to pay interest after 2-3 payments. With all these problems in his pocket, he also has a love interest Ammu (Anisha Ambrose) whom he loves from his childhood. Her father Srinivasulu (Kasi Viswanath) declines to marry her with Sanju. She comes out of her house to live with Sanju. Sanju who is always helped by his friend Praveen gets money from him and when he is about to repay money to Vaddi Raja, someone robs him. Vaddi Raja gives him deadline and Kidnaps Ammu. How Sanju solved all his problems is rest of the story.

Cast and Performance

Sundeep Kishan as Sanju is fantastic. He carried this whole film on his shoulders. He is so intense as a penny less bachelor. Anisha Ambrose as Ammu is good. She looks good on screen. National Award winner Bobby Simha is terrific as Vaddi Raja. He played the same role in the original Neram. Brahmaji as Padmavathi is humorous. He did a nice job. Kasi Viswanath as Srinivasulu, father of Ammu is good. His body language as a middle class father who is reluctant to marry his daughter with a jobless guy is perfect. Mahat Raghavendra as Manik aka Manikyam is good. His acts as a flirty guy who always try to flirt any girl he comes across is good. Shaani Pagadala, Sudharshan Reddy and Koushik Rachapudi are good in their limited roles. Praveen as Mani is superb. Madhunandan is good. Posani and other actors are good.

Writing Department

Plot of the story is superb and exciting. Screenplay is not as gripping as expected. Dialogues are good but not upto the mark. Makers didn’t change the original script a lot except for a minute changes.

Technical Departments

Songs of the movie certainly do not generate any curiosity among listeners. Music director Sai Kartheek is said to be failed in that aspect. Pista song from original Neram can also said to be a failure effort of remaking it in Telugu. It is nowhere close to original song. Background score is okay and is so loud. Cinematography by B Rajasekhar is good. Editing by M R Varma is okay. Shots composed and edit pattern is exact and same as Neram. Action by Vijay is good. Production values are nice.

Verdict

Introduction of Sundeep Kishan as Sanju is the inception of Run. Everything is same as original Neram, be it screenplay, shot composition, editing. Movie begins on a serious note and everything seems to be dramatised. For the reason unknown, there is a small gap between audience and the movie. Acts of Vaddi Raja are serious and humorous at the same time. Scene where Ammu is kidnapped by Vaddi Raja from a church is the end of first half. It doesn’t create the expected curiosity. Second half begins with the addition of other problems to the existing problems of Sanju. As compared to Neram, Run is a mediocre remake. If you have seen Neram, you don’t like this Run. If not, there may be chances of liking. To sum up, Run is a mediocre remake where audience expect more but given less.

Young hero Sundeep Kishan has reportedly brought a four bedroom apartment from Director VV Vinayak. Beautiful view of Durgam Cheruvu is the main asset of the bungalow that Sundeep pocketed from Vinayak, who has recently moved to a luxurious villa in Jubilee Hills.

The apartment Sundeep bought is said to be already equipped with huge lawn area, mini bar, scenic view of Durgam Cheruvu and many high end luxuries.

It is known that talented beauty Nithya Menen is essaying lead actress in the film. As per onlookers, while the actor was shooting for a romantic scene with Nithya, Sundeep felt very embarrassed. Despite the Ishq heroine was very cooperative, Sundeep couldn’t complete the scene in due time as he was shocked by the acting skills of her Malayalam actress. He had to take multiple takes before finishing the scene.

Okka Ammaayi Tappa is directed by senior writer Rajasimha. Ravi Kishan is playing the villain role in the film. According to reports, the unit has completed maximum portions of the shoot and only three songs are left to be shot.

Two songs will be shot abroad, and one song will be canned in India and with that, the film’s shooting will be wrapped. The movie is being directed by Rajasimha and he is making his directorial debut. He worked as a writer for many successful films. Ravi Kishan is playing the villain in this movie.

Amyra Dastur, who gave a dashing entry in south with Dhanush’s “Anegan,” will soon be sharing some screen space with Tollywood young hero Sundeep Kishan.

Amyra (22) made her acting debut opposite Prateik Babbar in Issaq that released in 2013. Later on, she was seen in Mr.X starring Emraan Hashmi. From Bollywood, she gave a jump to Kollywood and starred in Dhanush starrer “Anegan.” Though Anegan was a flop show, Amyra stole the show and received good reviews for her beauty presence in the film.

With receiving positive talk over her, Amyra was rumoured of being contacted by many Telugu filmmakers to act in their film. She got advertised of acting in Naga Chaitanya’s Malayalam remake “Premam.” With this, she was also talked about playing the lead in films starring Mahesh Babu, Jr.NTR and Allu Arjun. With no confirmation coming from neither side, the news was proven as a rumour.

Adding more to these gossips news broke that Amyra has been finalised as the heroine in Ram Charan’s Tamil remake “Thani Oruvan.” With this coming as false news, Amyra Dastur is eagerly waiting and hoping that she gets an offer opposite a star hero, by so she can make a strong entry in Tollywood.

One of the highly successful short films produced by Tollywood is ‘Silent Melody’. Produced by young hero Sundeep Kishan, the short romantic drama was directed by Prashanth Varma. It has already clocked more than 40 lakh views on YouTube ever since its release, a year ago.

The 10-minute short film has no dialogues but it poetically showcases a cute love story between the lead couple played by Kunal Kaushik and Prachi Thaker.
