The biopics season s going on in Indian cinema over the past few years. While most of them are minting a good amount of money at the box office, there are also films which became disasters at the box office. Now, a biopic is being made on the soft porn actress Shakeela, who was a sensation in South India during the 1980s.

Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, this film is titled as Shakeela. Bollywood actress Richa Chadda is the lead actress in it. The shoot is now completed and the film is in the post-production stages. Meanwhile, the makers are planning to release two different versions of the film, an Indian cut, and an International cut.

The International cut will be shorter than the Indian one without any songs and dances. It is to appeal to the foreign audience. Ballu Saluja, who edited Dangal and Lagaan, will cut the International version of Shakeela. The film is slated to release in August in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Director Indrajit Lankesh is helming the biopic of South adult film star Shakeela. Richa Chadha is roped in to play the role of Shakeela who was popular in the 1990s.

As per the latest reports, Shakeela herself is going to play a cameo in the movie. Lankesh stated that she has always wanted to make a movie on Shakeela as he was immensely impressed with her on screen and off screen personality. “I wanted to showcase her story, the hardships she faced when she was not getting films and was trying for character roles. I want to show the true story behind the superstar Shakeela.” Said Lankesh. Richa also spent some time with her to observe her style of talking, her body language etc. “When she came on set, she gave us some interesting insights about our art direction and how her house was and is in real life,” added Lankesh.

Lankesh shot with her in the past for another film in 2003 and that was when he got the interest to make a film on her. He claimed that every woman and girl who wants to be an actress should see her story, and understand she went through.

Malayalam actor Rajeev Pillai who is busy with Shakeela biopic was supposed to get married three days ago. But, the floods in Kerala has disturbed everything and he postponed the wedding and took part in the relief operations. Rajeev was supposed to marry Engineering student Ajitha. But, in the view of these unexpected floods, he postponed the wedding. Actress Richa who will play Shakeela on screen revealed this news to her followers on the social media.

Richa Chadha who is playing Shakeela on screen posted a video on Instagram and wrote, “My friend and costar in #Shakeela , @rajeev_govinda_pillai postponed his wedding, which was to happen three days ago, in order to help out in rescue efforts in his hometown of Nannoor, Kerala. They made rafts, carried boats by road to the low lying areas, made good use of all the muscle. Bravo! PS- apart from obvious resourceful-ness, helpfulness, I think this is when fitness comes in handy. When you’re strong, agile, you can be of use in adverse conditions. The young men and the fishermen in this town worked till late in the night to save people from the rising water.”
