Tamil’s much-loved comedian Santhanam is all set to come up with his latest movie soon. Titled as ‘Server Sundaram’, this long-delayed flick is slated for its release soon.

The latest reports we hear is that Santhanam as the main lead, the movie Server Sundaram is all set to hit the theaters on July 6th. This is a comedy entertainer which will star Santhanam as a chef. Debutant filmmaker Anand Balki is the director of this movie. Veteran actor Bijesh’s grandson is making his debut into acting with this movie Server Sundaram. Vaibhavi Shandilya plays the female lead. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.

Santhanam has been stuck in a controversy, and a case had been filed against the actor. Following this, he had applied for an anticipatory bail and the case would come to the hearing tomorrow or day after tomorrow. It is also rumored that Santhanam has absconded.

Santhanam and a builder named Shanmugasundaram had a misunderstanding in the financial issues. Shanmugasundaram’s advocate Premanand dealt with the case. In a scuffle between the two, Premanand got injured and was admitted to the hospital. He filed three cases against Santhanam in Valasaravakkam police station. So, Santhanam applied for an anticipatory bail.

In the professional front, Santhanam has been waiting for the release of Server Sundaram with Vaibhavi Shandilya. Two of his movies are under production, and they are Mannavan Vandhanadi directed by Selvaraghavan and Sakka Podu Podu Raja directed by Sethuraman.

Cases have been filed against actor Santhanam and Shanmugasundram, a builder, by the Valasaravakkam police for attacking each other following a verbal duel over the delay in construction of a wedding hall.

According to the police, Mr. Santhanam gave a huge amount to Mr. Shanmugasundaram as an advance for the construction of a wedding hall near Kundrathur. The project was delayed by the builder. At one point of time, the project was stopped. Infuriated, Santhanam questioned the builder and demanded repayment of the money. As the builder did not oblige, both were at loggerheads for some time.

Mr. Shanmugasundaram and Prem Anand, a BJP functionary, invited Mr. Santhanam and his manager on Monday evening to the former’s office in Virugambakkam. A verbal duel turned into a fight. The police said Mr. Shanumugasundaram hit Mr. Santhanam with a flower vase kept on the table. In retaliation, Mr. Santhanam and his manager Mr. Ramesh attacked the other two, injuring Mr. Prem Anand in the process.

Both sides lodged complaints with the Valasaravakkam police who registered cases against both. Mr. Santhanam has moved the Madras High Court seeking advance bail in the case.

In a surprising announcement, it has been revealed that actor Santhanam is going to team up with the sensational director Selva Raghavan. This is surely going to be a rare combination as Selva Raghavan who is known for making different films has been teaming up with the actor who is known for comic roles. The actor’s last outing ‘Dhillukku Dhuttu’ was a huge hit at the box-office.

More details reg. the project to follow soon.” revealed Santhanam on his Twitter profile. “Very happy to announce that my next film will be starring @iamsanthanam ..looking forward.” revealed Selva Raghavan about the project. The Tamil film industry was surprised about the announcement of the film.

Server Sundaram is the official remake of the 1964 film of the same name starring then star comedian Nagesh. The film became a huge hit and catapulted Nagesh to stardom. The same is expected in the case of Santhanam as well.

Santhosh Narayanan is the music director of Server Sundaram, the shooting of which is progressing at rapid pace. The film directed by Anand Balki will be shot across Chennai, Dubai and Goa.

Forbes India magazine has yesterday released the 2015 Top 100 Celebrity list. The most surprising name on the list was Tamil star comedian Santhanam. He was ranked 52 with estimated earnings of 45 Crore. While Santhanam’s money wise rank was 17, he got 91st rank fame wise.

Interestingly, Santhanam’s earnings are higher than Tamil star heroes like Dhanush, Suriya, Rajinikanth and Arya. He is well known for his comedy sequences and oneliners in several medium and high budget flicks. He reportedly charges more than Rs 6 lakh per day, which makes him the highest paid comedian ever. The actor has also started playing lead roles in some out and out comedy movies.

Santhanam also has amassed income with his production house ‘Inimey Ippadithaan’.

Misunderstandings are a common thing in our lives and often apologies serve as a good way to get around them – well, the glitz and glamour aside, it seems tinsel town’s not so different after all.

Kamal Haasan had recently been the chief guest at the audio launch function of the new movie Vaaliba Raja, which stars Santhanam in the lead. Now, the function was itself a grand event of sorts and many participated in promoting the movie but Kamal had shown up for one reason – because Santhaanam had personally invited him.

And here’s the kicker – Santhanam did not show up to the function himself!

That’s a good way, by the way, to insult anyone and effectively hurt a few sentiments and Kamal, who is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve when it comes to most matters, was indeed deeply annoyed by this unexpected behaviour from the part of his colleague.

C’mon, it did look a little bit like Kamal had all the time in the world while Santhanam couldn’t make it to promote his own movie! And that’s a definite ‘No – No’ as far as the busier than ever Universal Hero goes.

Now, Kamal had the daunting task of speaking to the audience from the dais, as part of the inaugural ceremony. And being the consummate professional that he is, the Uthama Villain star did not make a big deal out of it and didn’t bring it up in his speech. In fact, as a stern reminder to Santhaanam, he did not mention the leading man’s name in the entire thing!

The audience must have figured something was wrong but the event proceeded smoothly anyway. Santhaanam, however, heard the news much later at Hyderabad, where he is currently shooting for the Rajinikanth starrer Lingaa.

He must have grasped the severity of his error at this point, as he immediately called Kamal and apologized to him and explained his actions and gave him the reasons for him not being there.

Sigh.. All’s well that ends well one supposes..

The audio launch for the Santhaanam starrer Vaaliba Raja will is to be held on June 25 at Devi Studios, Chennai and it is to be a grand affair, especially because of the Chief Guest of the function – none other than the Universal Hero Kamal Haasan!

Yes, Kamal will officially be launching the audio for this film which has quite a few interesting things going for it anyway.

The flick is being touted as India’s first ‘psycho comedy’ and it is being directed by Sai Gokul Ramanath.

A psycho comedy? Now that’s an interesting genre that raises a lot of questions by itself.

Apart from the fact that popular comedian Santhaanam is the hero of the film, it also has a few other creative players involved in it. Loganathan, who handled the cinematography for the hit Malayalam film Usthad Hotel, will be wielding the camera for this. Usthad Hotel, of course, is also remembered for being the debut film of Dulquer Salman.

The shooting began on June 19. The music of Vaaliba Raja is being scored by Radhan of Telugu hit Andala Rakshasi fame.

Sethu and Vishakha Singh play the other two leads in the movie while Nushrat Bharucha, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash and Chithra Lakshmanan form the supporting cast.

The audio rights of the film has been bagged by Sony Music South.

Yes indeed, it seems that the mother of popular comedic actor Santhanam is not one of the people happy to see him take on a hero role for the first time! No, it is not an indication of her love for him; it’s apparently because she feels that he might get fewer offers if he became a leading man.

Santhanam, who has been making a name for himself as a talented on screen comedian for the past few years now recently decided to take on the tough task of being a ‘hero’ in a movie for the first time in his career. The actor is playing the lead part in the movie Vallavanukku Pullum Aayutham, which is a remake of Telugu hit Maryada Ramanna.

The actor confesses that he had been getting leading role offers for quite some time now, but chose to decline them because none of them felt right for him. This one, he says, seemed tailor made for him and the script itself deeply impressed him.

The young comedian also explained why his mother feels the way she does. “She is worried that as a hero I might get maybe one movie a year, and that too rides on the success of this movie at the box office. Right now, as a comedic actor, I get to work in multiple movies a year and keep myself busy all year round.”
