Story:

Rangasthalam is the village where the story happens. President (Jagapathi Babu) is a financier who gives money for high interest and tortures the people in recovering them. He has been continuing as a president for almost 30 years and to end his reign, Chitti Babu’s brother Kumar Babu (Aadi) comes in to contest as a president. What happens then? Who won as a president? How did the battle between Chitti Babu and the president turn out? Forms the story of the film.

Performances:

The lead actors Ram Charan and Samantha performed well in the movie by playing Chitti Babu and Rama Lakshmi. Rangasthalam is Ram Charan’s career-best performance, and he is sure to enter the next level of stardom with the success of the movie. His performance has got a lot of ease, and his characterisation is decent. Samantha played a fascinating as well as a natural character in the film, and she maintained a perfect balance between the both. Anasuya Bharadwaj as Rangammatha is different and looked hot. Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Aadi Pinisetti, Ajay Gosh, Mahesh Achanta and others who played their parts are good. The rest of the cast has made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Pooja Hegde in Rangasthalam
Pooja Hegde in Rangasthalam

The film’s technical team has given the best. Ratnavelu has come up with impressive camera work for the movie. He has come out with the best he can with the film and impressed everyone. His way of presenting the cinema is completely different. Naveen Nooli’s editing is good to the maximum extent, and he gave his best for the movie. The music scored by Devi Sri Prasad is excellent, and the background score is outstanding. Production values maintained by Mythri Movie Makers are grand.

Writing department:

Sukumar has come up with one of his best works after a long time. Though the film has got almost three hours runtime, the director did not try to incorporate unnecessary scenes in the film, and he has come up with his best. The writing is impeccable, and the director must be appreciated for coming up with best characterisations. The writing team of Sukumar has come out with brilliant dialogues that introduce the nativity and flavour of 1980’s. The screenplay is impressive and the twist that comes in the second half is good. The conversations are pleasant and worked well for all the situations.

Plus points:

Ram Charan
Performances
Music and BGM.
Story
Direction.

Minus points:

Weak screenplay in the second half.
Few ups and downs.

Verdict:

It is tough for a director to deal with current day audiences by telling a story that took place almost 38 years back and adding a weakness to the hero’s character. But Sukumar has done it in the best way and held the interest of the audiences from title cards to the interval. The way the first half is filled with the beauty of Rangasthalam village and the village politics aspects is excellent. The first half ends on a promising note and sets the premise perfect for the second half. The second half starts on a slow note but still, there is some new factor in the second half. The film picks up the speed, by the time it reaches the pre-climax and the climax sequence is one of the best works from Sukumar as it ends with a mind-blowing twist. The way Mythri Movie Makers have believed Ram Charan and the director is nothing but the best. The film is indeed a must watch. The film has a true story, but it was presented in a best commercial manner. Watch it.
