Actress Rambha needs no introduction for Tollywood movie lovers. Her husband Indra Kumar has informed the same to all the followers on the social media. Indra was married to Rambha in 2010. They already have two daughters and with the entry of a new member to the family now, Rambha’s family is elated.

Actress Rambha is in the news again. The Banjara Hills police officials have sent summons to her last night asking her to attend court immediately. The actress has been named in a case filed by Pallavi who married Rambha’s brother in 1999. Pallavi has later filed a case on her husband, Rambha and other family members alleging that they are demanding dowry by harassing her. The court accepted the case and starting investigation too.The case was filed in 2014.

As per the directions were given by the court, the police officials of Banjara Hills PS registered a case on Rambha under IPC 498 A section. As Rambha is staying in the USA, the police did not have the opportunity of sending her summons. When they recently learnt that she is in Hyderabad for a TV show, the police immediately summoned her and asked to attend the court immediately.

Yester year actress Rambha is reported of donating a sum of Rs 5 Lakh to the Chennai Flood victims. Rambha, who married Indhran Pathmanathan in 2010 and settled in Canada, got to know some serious news about the floods and the impact that left upon the Chennaities. Moved by the troubles that the Chennaities are facing, Rambha and her husband have decided to donate money to the flood affected victims.

Rambha, though begun her career as a heroine in Telugu Cinema has also did films that turned out to become super hits in Tamil. As a thankful gesture for the people of Tamil and Chennai, Rambha has donated this money. This money was sent to the Nadigar Sangam by a close relative of the heroine.

In shocking news, a criminal case has been filed against actress Rambha in the Banjara Hills police station, Hyderabad. But that’s not just the shocking part – the case has been filed against her by someone in her own family!

Yes folks, it is the actress’s own sister in law, Pallavi, who has filed the case. And guess what the charges are? Dowry harassment!

Pallavi is claiming that she has been continuously harassed by her husband, Rambha’s brother, demanding her for more dowry. And she also accuses the parents of her husband and his sister, Rambha, of supporting him in this pursuit of more dowry and his actions to get it.

Dowry has been banned by the Government of India for ages now and it is a very serious offence to ask a woman for dowry or for the woman’s family to give it. Any violation of this carries with it severe repercussions including a huge fine and a prison sentence! So you can imagine the penalties for harassing someone for dowry, which is even more severe, because that also adds women’s rights issues with an existing violation of the law.

Though in our country, many people still ask for and receive dowry, it goes unreported and is a national secret of sorts. The high rates of women who are emotionally and sometimes physically abused by their in laws because of the dowry issue is deplorable indeed.

So it comes as a matter of shame that educated people, who enjoy a high status in society too adhere to such an outdated, cruel and illegal tradition out of what could only be interpreted as pure greed.

It is unclear at this point exactly what kind of harassment Pallavi was subjected to. According to the law, however, the police must take swift action and that will almost probably include arrests being made.
