At many parts of North India, BJP activists are protesting against the release of Dilwale for the actor’s recent comments on rising intolerance in India. Even MNS outfits are protesting as the actor donated Rs 1 Crore to Chennai flood victims but didn’t even care about the plight of Maharashtra farmers.

On the other hand, Bajirao Matsnai turned controversial as many feel that the history is convoluted and distorted by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the name of cinematic liberty. Main protests are seen in Pune as the story is based on Maratha king Bajirao.

Dilwale Review – All Cars and Zero Chemistry

Dilwale 2015 Movie Review: Shah Rukh’s best film till date was in his early days of his career – Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa with the Goa setup. Now after 23 years, we have Dilwale again in the Goa setup. The impact this time is unfortunately disastrous. Despite having a great budget and the most adorable pair of Bollywood – SRK and Kajol, the script and the screenplay of Dilwale is not even 2rs (in the language of KRK). The film is extremely clichéd.

The beginning titles roll showing quick cuts of SRK in an action sequence and continuously shooting bullets. The film then unveils in Goa where Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) runs a garage. He has a brother Veer (Varun Dhawan) whom he pampers like his son. Veer falls in love with Ishita (Kriti Sanon). The movie then travels back 15 years when the ‘young’ SRK is the son of an Indian Don (played by Vinod Khanna) in Bulgaria. Malik Dev (Kabir Bedi) is the rival don and his daughter is Meera (Kajol). They fall in love but the don rivalry creates a misunderstanding between them and separate. How and why they meet after 15 years forms the rest of the story.

Pose-From-Dilwale-Movie

Rohit Shetty tried desperately to recreate the Raj-Simran chemistry. Alas, he failed miserably. Probably it needs an Aditya Chopra or Karan Johar to do that. Making the greatest pair of Bollywood look dull and artificial is not a joke. It needs a pathetic screenplay and dialogues to do that. Rohit Shetty and team get that rare credit to make SRK Kajol look so boring on the screen. There were just a couple of scenes where they looked adorable. Rest of it looked so made-up. How in the world could SRK and Kajol agree to do such a boring script? The first 25 minutes gets on to your nerves with humour that hardly works. The rotten comedy by Johny Lever is just terrible. The movie gets a bit interesting only in the Bulgaria sequence. When it moves back to Goa, it again became stale. The climax is just unbearable.

Dilwale-Movie-Team

The only appealing part of the film is the Gerua song and that video was a synonym for beauty. Had they took at least 10% of the pain in scripting a story, Dilwale would have been a magnificent film with the team they have. Pritam’s music is not up to the mark too and dumped the movie even more. Varun Dhawan’s role was annoying throughout. Kajol was the best of the lot trying to cover up the crappy role and dialogues. SRK looked disinterested and dull.

Dilwale is a waste of money for the makers and probably could be a waste of ticket money for the viewers too. Its better off not watching a golden pair involved in such a passionless, spiritless and soulless movie!

All cars and zero chemistry.
