At a time when Telugu filmmakers are looking out to rope in yesteryear actresses, who still look beautiful, to play the roles of mothers and aunties of star heroes and heroines, makers of megastar Chiranjeevi’s 150th film have roped in a de-glam mother.

Just like the struggle to choose a story, heroine and villain for this project, makers went through a rigorous hunt to choose the actors to play Chiru’s mother and father in the film. Finally, veteran actress Annapurna, who was the synonym of ‘mother’ characters in the past, has been roped in. Considering Chiru’s age, roping in a top veteran actress to play his mother was a herculean task anyway, so makers have zeroed in Annapurna.

Chalapathi Rao will play Chiru’s father. Scenes involving Annapurna and Chalapathi Rao will be canned in the new schedule. The two will be seen as the parents of a younger character of Chiru.

Yesteryear director Kodandarami Reddy, who has the distinction of directing megastar Chiranjeevi in the most number of films, has now made few sensational comments at the actor’s comeback film.

Speaking at an event in Vijayawada, Reddy said that people wouldn’t accept if Chiru does action or message oriented films in his comeback. He added that if he was the director, he would make comedy films with Chiru. He hoped that Chiru’s 150th film is a comedy film.

The director has been a good friend of Chiru, and they don’t have any differences. This combination has been one of the best commercially successful combo during Chiru’s hey days. However, Reddy’s negative comments have become the talk of the town now. He might be hinting that Chiru has utterly failed as a politician, so now people won’t believe if he makes message oriented movies.

The regular shooting of megastar Chiranjeevi’s much delayed and much awaited 150th project is all set to go on floors on June 20.

The first schedule will begin on June 20 in Ramoji Film City. VV Vinayak will direct the film to be music scored by Devi Sri Prasad. Heroine to romance Chiru has not been announced yet even though the name of Anushka Shetty is strongly heard. Ram Charan is producing the film on his newly floated Konidela Productions Company. Lyca Productions will serve as co-producer.

Tentatively titled ‘Katthilantodu’, the film is the official remake of Tamil blockbuster film ‘Katthi’. Vinayak has worked hard with his team of writers to fine tune the sensitive subject to the taste of Telugu audiences. The hard-hitting subject of farmers’ plight has to be narrated in an entertaining manner to reach the sky-high expectations.

Dasari’s resolution came in the wake of the ongoing tussle between senior Telugu film writer N Narasimha Rao and the makers of Kathi. Ever since Murugdoss released the film’s Tamil version, Narasimha Rao has been claiming that the story was by penned him and he registered it in the Cine Writer’s Association.

Although a forum was established to sort out the issue, it is yet to be resolved. Hence, Dasari passed a resolution that the film remake should go on floors only after resolving this issue. Dasari also stated that the Directors’ Association and Cine Workers Federation will be staging non-cooperation against the film’s production until the issue is resolved.
