Super star Mahesh Babu’s latest film ‘Brahmotsavam’, which was released on May 20, has been declared one of the biggest disasters of the star hero.

After the stupendous success of ‘Okkadu’, Mahesh’s ‘Nijam’ in the direction of Teja came up with huge expectations in May, but the film failed to sustain at the box office even though Mahesh was praised for his acting. After delivering a mammoth hit like ‘Khushi’, director SJ Suriya teamed up with Mahesh to deliver a disaster called ‘Nani,’ which was also released in May month.

It was around the same time he’d signed director Sukumar’s ‘Nannaku Prematho’ and Addala developed the script with few changes to it so that it suits Mahesh.

Story

Sathya Raj is a owner of a paint company worth of four hundred crores which is started with four hundred rupees given by Rao Ramesh father. Sathya Raj always tries to keep his family in a close bonding. He is very good at heart and gives anything to the benifit of family. Rao Ramesh is jealous of Sathya Raj and he always hate Sathya Raj for his behaviour and wealth. Rao Ramhesh plans to marry his daughter (Pranitha Subash) with Sathya Raj’s son (Mahesh Babu). They all go on a family tour during which Rao Ramesh sees Mahesh kissing and hugging Kajal Aggarwal and leaves from the tour without telling anyone. He burst out his jealousy and anger on Sathya Raj and his family and dismantle his bonding with Sathya Raj family. Hurt by this, Sathya Raj dies by telling his last wish to Mahesh Babu. How Mahesh solves all the problems and keep family together is the rest of the story.
Cast and Performance
Mahesh Babu is terrific in his role. He simply turned into magician doing magic with his screen presence and his well written thought provoking dialogues. Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are nice. Sathya Raj did a fantastic role. Revathi, Jayasudha, Thanikella Bharani, Subhalekha Sudhakar did to the extent of their role. Rao Ramesh is fantastic in his role right from his mannerisms to his diction. Naresh, Shayaji Shinde, Pranitha Subash, Rohini Hattangadi are good. Other supporting cast are good.
Writing Department
Story by Srikanth Addala is simple and nice which is targeted to family audience. His dialogues are superb and will induce audience to think over them. Screenplay is let down. It should have been much better.
Technical Departments
Songs composed by Mickey J Meyer are superb and are received well. Everyone has their own picks from the album. Gopi Sunder did nice job with his background music. He has elevated some scenes to a very next level. Rathnavelu visuals are an eye feast and visual delight. He celebrated with colors throughout the movie. Editing by Kotagirj Venkateswararao is good. But some scenes could have chopped off for a crispy and racy flow in the second half. Thota Tharani has done a fantastic work with sets and design. His work complicated very well with Rathnavelu’s visuals. Production values are highly rich.

Brahmotsavam itself is the name of celebration which begins with celebration and voice over of Samantha Ruth Prabhu leading to marriage celebrations of Thanikella Bharani’s daughter Anandavalli played by Short films fame Chandini Chowdary. First thirty minutes are packed with more than four songs. Madhuram song for Mahesh introduction, Naidorintikaada for Kajal & Mahesh together, Vachindhi Kadha for Anandavalli marriage and other two songs back to back. More than movie scenes or story flow songs are dominative. Every scene and every dialogues are of Srikanth Addala’a style. Songs are picturised very beautifully. Some of the moves of Mahesh Babu are impressive. As expected first half ends with breaking of family which is high on emotion which will make family audience burst into tears. Good thing about Srikanth Addala movies is his dialogues, way of his emotional narration with a very strong characters. Second half could have been better. Compared to first half it is a let down. Srikanth Addala should have done a better job with his screenplay. Movie runs on a very slow pace in the second half. To sumup, Brahmotsavam is not a great attempt of celebration.

The expected seating capacity in the theater is 130, and the ticket costs 80 rupees. The approximate budget that cost this mini-theater is 1.5 crore rupees.
