‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ ended up as a disaster at the box office. Nandamuri Balakrishna has given by his best in portraying the role of his father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Now, the senior hero is going to enthrall the audience again with his amazing performance in the second part of the biopic titled as ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’. Needless to mention that the entire movie is going to deal with the political aspects of NTR’s life. Rana Daggubati played the role of Nara Chandrababu Naidu whereas Sachin Khedekar will be seen portraying Nadendla Bhaskara Rao role in the movie. The trailer of the movie has received a positive response from the audience. Ending the long wait, ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’ hit the theatres on February 22nd, 2019. Let’s check out the review of the movie.

Story:

NBK and Vidya Balan in Mahanyakudu
NBK and Vidya Balan in Mahanyakudu

The film starts off with the introduction of NTR’s childhood and a quick recap of the first part. How NTR established the Telugu Desam Party and won the elections against all the odds? How he was backstabbed by some of his own party members, especially Nadendla Bhaskar Rao? How did NTR become successful in getting back to the power? Forms the story of the movie.

Performances:

Balakrishna has once again delivered a spectacular performance. His body language, his dialogue delivery, and even his looks will also make us remember the beloved leader NTR. Vidya Balan breathes life into the character of Basavatarakam. Especially, during the emotional scenes, her performance is heartwarming. Kalyan Ram performed well as Nandamuri Harikrishna. Rana Daggubati should definitely get a special mention for his outstanding performance as Nara Chandrababu Naidu. From his walk to his dialogue delivery, Rana has done a convincing job as CBN. Daggubati Raja also portrayed his role decently. Sumanth as Akkineni Nageswara Rao is limited to one scene. Sachin Khedekar’s screen presence is extraordinary. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Krish and NBK in Mahanyakudu

The Production values by NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, and Vibri Media are lavish.

Music by Keeravani did not help in any manner for the movie. The background score hardly made any mark.

The key emotional scenes were also let down by unimpressive score and unnecessary Rap.

The songs in the second half are good but the BGM played the spoilsport. Cinematographer Gnana Sekhar did a stunning job and delivered beautiful visuals. Editing by Arram Ramakrishna is clean and neat.

Verdict:

Director Krish has handled the story in an interesting way. Just like the first part, there are some boring scenes in this movie as well. But, he has succeeded in making the audience stick to the chair with his narration and the way he handled the script will definitely grab the attention. The first half of the movie is interesting in its own way as the political drama raises curiosity among the audiences but the second half of the movie is a big letdown. There is hardly any proper story in the second half and it all looks hurried. The second half was over dramatized and it could have been toned down. The director tried to execute the movie emotionally but it went overboard in the second half as well.
