No one has ever imagined that a single winking video of a girl can make her an overnight star until the cute girl Priya Prakash Varrier came into the scene. The actress has taken the internet by storm with her winking as well as gunshot videos from her debut movie ‘Oru Adaar Love’. After a long time, the movie has finally come out to try its luck at the box office. Directed by Omar Lulu, the movie features Priya Warrier and Noorin Sherif in the lead roles. The movie also got dubbed into Telugu as ‘Lovers Day’. Justifying the title, the movie finally hit the screens on Valentine’s Day. It is evident that the expectations have been very high in this movie. Let’s see how far the film has succeeded in reaching those expectations.

Story:

Oru Adaar Love
Oru Adaar Love

The entire movie revolves around the life of the students in the time of Class 12. The movie revolves around Priya Prakash Varrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof most of the time and their story is all about Roshan trying to woo Priya. The more he tries, the more she keeps denying. Meanwhile, enters Noorin Shereef as Gadha, a tomboy who tries to set her friends up with each other. The film has all the typical romantic elements of a boy and a girl walking under one umbrella, taking a stroll in the park etc. Interestingly, though the movie runs with the school backdrop, teachers and parents won’t appear much in the film. Priya deciding whether to go in a relationship or not is the main theme of the story.

Performances:

Priya Prakash Varrier is undoubtedly the show stealer for the film. Her cute performance, honest acting, and dialogue delivery can be considered as the major driving factors of the movie. It will be an eye feast for the audience. Though it is a debut movie, Noorin also delivered a decent performance. Roshan Abdul Rahoof is quite impressive with his interesting role.

Michelle Ann Daniel is perfect for the role. She delivered an appreciable performance. Arun A Kumar suited well for the role. Mathew’s performance will grab attention. Siyadh Shahjahan’s and Dilrupa Aswad delivered honest performances. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

The Production values by Ousepachan Movie House are extravagant. Music by Shaan Rahman is one of the major highlights of the film. As his tunes are worth appreciating his music can be considered as one of the driving factors of the film. Editing by Achu Vijayan is clean. On the whole, the technical team did well and provided their best output.

Verdict:

‘Lovers Day’ is a simple straight forward story which does not have many complexities to deal with. At times like this, the storytelling skills of the director will play a major role and Omar Lulu has succeeded in impressing the audience. His slow paced narration will irk some of the viewers but he will make the audience engaged with his presentation. The movie is a blend of a high dose of teenage romance with high school crushes and friendship. The story doesn’t offer much. The first half is pretty much decent with introductions, freshers party etc. One might wonder if they are really high school students or not. The second half also don’t have much to rave about. There will be some cute scenes between the leads whereas they also have some boring and dragging scenes. The movie is just a one-time watch.
