Vijay (Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas) works as a Sub Inspector of Police in Vizag 3 Town Police Station. He tries to become an encounter specialist and falls in love with Kajal Agarwal who works in a coffee shop. On the other hand, one day, he saves Samyuktha (Mehreen Pirzada) from some goons. The next day Vijay’s mother met with an accident and Samyuktha gives him an idea to kidnap her and demand money from her family. With nothing else to do, Vijay becomes a part of it and calls Samyuktha’s family and demands 50 lakhs. Meanwhile, he gets shocked to know that she is the one who he fell in love in the coffee shop. Who is the Samyuktha? Who is behind her kidnap? Forms the crux of the story.

Performances:

For the first time in his career, Bellamkonda Srinivas turned into a cop. His powerful dialogues and intense action are pretty much impressive. But it would have been good if he has worked on his facial expressions. Kajal will grab the attention more than any other actor in the film. Her stunning beauty is definitely an asset to the film. Mehreen performed well. She not only looked beautiful but also delivered a decent performance in the movie. Neil Nitin Mukesh is one of the major driving factors for the film. He carried the movie on his shoulders. Harish Uttam justified his role and will definitely impress the audience. Harshvardhan Rane also delivered a great performance. Mukesh Rishi gave his best for the role. Kalyani Natarajan had a decent screen presence. Satyam Rajesh, Ajay, Shravan and the rest of the cast also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:

Kajal and Sreenivas in Kavacham
Kajal and Sreenivas in Kavacham

Though the story is not refreshing, the director’s story made it somewhat interesting. There are some unnecessary scenes in the movie that actually disturb the flow of this film. However some powerful performances by the actors cover them up. The production values by Vamsadhara Creations are lavish. The producers have invested decent amounts in the movie. The music by SS Thaman is like an added benefit for the film.

The songs are just average. His background music is really astounding and impressive. Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is good and the visuals came out really well. The editing could have been more much better. The runtime is crisp.

Verdict:

The director has penned an amazing story with some interesting twists. But his slow narration fails to impress the audience. The first half is decent with some comedy scenes and love track. The interval bang is impressive. The second half is all about Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’ search for solving the mystery. The story is good but the director’s poor execution is undoubtedly one of the major setbacks of the film. Though the performances are just average, the director made a failed attempt to grab the attention of the audience. Overall, ‘Kavacham’ is a poorly narrated interesting thriller.
