Dialogue writer of Baahubali, Madan Karky has issued a statement seeking apology as he found out that the use of the word ‘pagadai’, which means Sakkiliayar people, a sub-caste of Dalits, in the film has not gone well with a section of dalit rights outfit. Tamil Puli organisation has attacked a theatre showing Baabubali in Madurai, by hurling petrol bombs.

Madan’s statement reads, ” I came to know through media sources that a word present in the dialogue of the movie ‘Bahubali’ hurt the sentiments of a few and that, this has led them to acts of violence. I didn’t know that it was a name of a community. We even have few scenes in the movie in which the hero stand against casteism. Our intention is not to speak ill of anyone. The word will be removed from the movie soon. I’m sorry if anyone has been hurt.”
