It seems the rumour mills are in full swing again, this time, with the rather interesting news that Kollywood star ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram might do the Tamil remake of the Bollywood hit ‘Special 26’ or ‘Special Chabbis’ which starred Akshay Kumar in an ensemble cast and made quite an impression on the fans in 2013.
The movie, which was based on the real life criminal events in the 80s’ involving robbers who impersonated CBI or Income Tax officers to make away with huge amounts of black money, was exceptionally well received by the fans and was critically acclaimed for its atypical approach and clever execution.
Now it has been reported that a production company has acquired the rights to remake the flick, with an extensive budget in mind. Current reports indicate that Vikram, currently busy with another ‘big bucks’ Shankar project, may take on Akshay’s role and Sathyaraj may tackle Anupam Kher’s pivotal part in the original. Apparently, the company is also short listing young directors with a fresh take to head the project.
While the rest of the details – if the rumour be true – remain unknown, this might be quite an exciting motion picture story to develop in days to come.
