Cast and Performance

Vijay Antony in Kaasi
Vijay Antony in Kaasi

Vijay Anthony as Bharath and Kasi is good. He looks same in all the movies he act and the characters he play seems to be the extension of his previous character, may be because of the same look and body language. Anjali is fine in her limited role as Srivalli. Sunaina is good in her flashback role and also Amritha Iyer. Madhusudhan is good in his role as Rayudu. Yogi Babu tried to evoke few laughs and he succeeded to some extent. Vela Rammoorthy and Nassar are good. All other actors are fine.

Writing Department

Story of Kaasi is simple and has nothing novel. Screenplay is mediocre and dialogues are okay.

Technical Departments

Songs composed by Vijay Anthony can be ignored. The tunes are spoiled more by the lyrics which sound bad. Background score is good. Cinematography by Richard M Nathan is nice. Editing could have been much better to make the movie more racy and crispy. Action sequences are fine and production values are apt.

Verdict

Kasi is a story of a doctor who is haunted by the flashbacks he don’t remember as dreams and who goes in search of his biological parents. Director Kruthiga Udhayanidhi who also happens to be the screenplay writer has failed in writing an engaging and interesting one. Bad dubbing where the voices over act makes this film even worse. Vijay Anthony who appeared in three different characters has not shown any variations in them. Just the change of premise, locations and costumes is the only difference we feel. As we go into the movie, the way the story unfolds, the way new characters come and they way director handled them which runs in snail pace makes the movie boring. Generally, interval of a movie creates interest to watch second half but this movie has nothing so. The desperation aspect to know the father looks cheap. On the whole, Kaasi is a borefest and you may watch it if you have free time.
