Dhanush’s Velai Illa Pattathaari (VIP) released today to packed houses everywhere. The shows in the morning were mostly pre booked and many were left disappointed that they simply couldn’t get in. So it seems the hype and the promotional tactics employed by the team behind the movie and the immensely popular trailer paid off in the end.
However, buzz about the movie can only take it so far.. how does the Dhanush 25 movie fare in terms of audience responses?
Well, it’s getting two thumbs up from most of the viewers! Apparently, the movie is a perfect blend of all the right commercial ingredients. It is one that appeals to the masses with its humour, action, masala and punch dialogues but also keeps those with a more sophisticated palate engaged with its toned down and not completely over the top narrative style.
Dhanush plays an unemployed graduate in the movie but he is not an unambitious wasteful youth as many may have suspected but a young man who holds onto to his principles and is willing to work hard.
There is the love story with Amala Paul, who has done her part well, and the inevitable conflict with the baddies which has been handled entertainingly with equal importance given to cerebral and mass tactics by the hero, or so the sources say.
The family element in the movie has been executed well and Samuthirakani too has given a stellar performance, supposedly.
The film has been produced by Dhanush himself under the banner of his company Wunderbar Films. Anirudh Ravichander’s music is not bad and will keep your feet tapping, at least at certain portions.
So go catch a show and decide for yourself if the movie holds up to the hype..
