Unni Mukundan is an actor who has everything going for him, including dashing good looks, talent, a winning personality and a strong work ethic but somehow the major league success enjoyed by his peers like Fahadh Faasil, Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salman seems to elude him.. so far at least.
The actor’s upcoming movie is Lal Jose’s Vikramadithyan in which he plays one of the lead roles along with Dulquer. Now, market gurus say that Unni really needs this one to be a hit as his previous few ones more or less fizzled at the box office.
But it’s not like the actor is not in demand, no. He still holds enough mass appeal that he is even rumoured to be venturing into Bollywood next with the remake of his previous flick The Last Supper.
Also, the latest reports rolling in indicate he is to play the lead role in Sharath A Haridaas’s next venture. Sharath, of course, is the ad film maker turned feature film director who debuted with the flick Salala Mobiles.
This yet untitled project is set to be launched towards the end of August, according to sources.
Unni will play a simple guy from a traditional background in the film, which is touted as a feel good entertainer with an element of humour.
The young star will also be doing a cameo appearance in the Mammootty – Raai Laskhmi starrer Rajadhi Raja. He was only too happy to be a part of this flick, as he is admittedly a huge fan of Megastar Mammootty.
In fact, he had played the protagonist in Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander. Samrajyam was one of Mammootty’s biggest hits and the character of Alexander is iconic in Malayalam cinema history. One would think this would’ve been Unni’s big break but the release of the movie kept getting delayed.
Jeez, talk about bad luck following you around. Anyway, let’s hope with his slew of new movies on the way, things take a turn for the better for the deserving young actor.
