Cast and Performance
Samantha Akkineni is superb in the role of investigative journalist Rachana. She did a great job and she is going great with her work after the marriage. Rahul Raveendran is nice in his limited role in the office of Rachana and also her crush. Aadhi Pinisetty as SI Nayak is great. He is one good actor who is being explored by filmmakers now. Bhumika is the backbone of the story and its narration and she did complete justice. If she had failed in doing justice, this movie would have failed. All other actors did a fine job in their roles.
The story of U-Turn is thrilling and different from the rest of thrillers. Screenpay is well written without deviating from the point. Dialogues are good.
The Karma theme composed by Anirudh Ravichander for the promotions of this movie is superb and already is a trending chartbuster. Background score by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi is apt considering the narration of the movie. Cinematography by Niketh Bommireddy is nice and editing is crisp. All departments worked well for this movie. Production values are apt.
Samantha Akkineni as Rachana
Story and screenplay
Serious film without fun elements
This movie is a mystery narrated in an investigative way around an U-turn. The point itself is exciting and new from the rest of thrillers. Pawan Kumar who had written and directed U-Turn in Kannada with Shraddha Srinath is also the director of this Telugu version with Samantha Akkineni and he as done a very fine job. If given a chance to any others, they might have spoiled the narration infusing comedy or fun characters, but thankfully he is stuck with his own story and never deviated from it. The sole selling point of this film is Samantha Akkineni and she has given her best and she proved that she can carry the burden of a movie on her shoulders like a hero. She must be applauded for not putting any pressure on director to add any commercial elements. To sum up, U-turn is a one time watchable investigative thriller from Samantha Akkineni.
