Telugu TV artist Dimple, who acts in the serial Toorpu Padamara on ETV, was attacked by an unideintified woman when she was on her way for her shooting at a guest house in Manikonda.
The actress was travelling by car to Manikonda, when she found her way blocked by a young woman lying across the road. She stopped the car assuming something must be wrong with the woman, and her assistant got down to find out what the matter was.
The woman promptly threw chilli powder into the assistant’s eyes, following which Dimple got down from her vehicle. Dimple was attacked with chilli powder, too, and even hit with an iron rod. The attacker used a sharp object as well – gashes could be seen on the actress’ person.
Both Dimple and her assistant were injured, and Dimple was shifted to Apollo Hospital. There were no serious injuries, though.
According to Dimple, who spoke to the media in the afternoon from the hospital, the attacker repeatedly said that she and her husband have lost face thanks to "what Dimple did". Dimple, however, maintains that she has no clue of who the culprit is or what may have caused the violent outburst.
Yesterday, TV artiste Sridhar Varma was attacked by some miscreants who attempted to throw acid on him. Rivalry with a colleague Selvaraj in the serial "Aaradhana" is believed to be the reason for the attack.
Sridhar Varma, the director of Toorpu Padamara, is Dimple’s "fiancee", as stated by the actress herself. A link between the two incidents is seen as a foregone conclusion.
Meanwhile, film producer Tammareddy Bhardwaja has demanded the arrest of the accused.
