TRS pours hot T over Naidu visit

The Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to families who were in debt to micro finance companies in Gajwel mandal of Medak district on Friday turned into a catfight rather than a sympathy visit.

Activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti tried to stop Mr Naidu’s convoy at Pragnapur which led to a clash between the two groups. Police lathi-charged the stone-pelting groups and allowed the convoy to go ahead. Angry TRS activists then blocked traffic on the busy Rajiv Rahadari for some time to protest the preventive arrests by police last night and also the lathi-charge.

“We are fighting on public issues and not indulging in petty politics. The TRS’ behaviour is uncalled for,” Mr Naidu said.

Mr Naidu had recently faced hostile T-activists at Parigi as well when he was on his way to Mahbubnagar.

Mr Naidu called on the relatives of Pitla Gopal of Pidicheda and Parushuramulu of Sheripally, who allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide out of despair at their mounting debts.

Mr Naidu gave `50,000 to each family and promised to look after the education of the children.
