Top Telugu Movies of 2013

In India Cricket and Cinema are considered major sources of entertainment. Telugu cinema is progressing towards to a new style of movie making with different concepts.  Talented movie makers and producers are coming forward to make good movies. This year around 115 Telugu movies have been released and only some of them were received well at the box office. Let’s have a look at top 10.

10. Nayak


Nayak staring Ram Charan, Kajal Agarwal and Amala Paul was released for sankrathi festival this year and was a successful movie. The movie collected the maximum collections in Ram Charan’s movies till now.  Directed by V.V.  Vinayak the movie had nothing special and variety in story and treatment but comedy from actors Brahamanandam, Posani, Jayaprakash Reddy and M.S. Narayan helped in bringing audience to theatres. Ram Charan’s performance, dance, Kajal’s and Amala’s glamour played important roles in success of the movie. Nayak was produced by D.V.V Dannayya.

9. Baadshah

Baadshah directed by Srinu Vaitla and produced by blockbuster producer Bandla Ganesh was released in summer and was considered an average grosser. Srinu Vaitla came up with the same formula and style of making. It’s time for him to change his direction style. NTR put his 100% effort in all departments and was successful. Kajal’s glamour and Brahamanandam humor were major highlights of the movie. Thaman music also contributed to the success of the movie.

8. Mirchi

Mirchi directed by writer turned director Koratala Siva and produced by Prabhas friends Vamsi and Pramod was a good successful movie. The movie story and screenplay was routine but there was some attraction in the movie. Prabhas action, Devi’s music, heroines Richa and Anushka glamour were main attractions in the movie. Siva made sure to insert good commercial elements in the movie and entertained audience with his dialogues.

7. Prema Katha Chitram

Prema Katha Chitram is the surprise hit of the year. The movie directed by Ravi Kumar and produced by Maruthi and Sudharshan Reddy was released with low expectations and entertained audience. Every character in the movie had important role to play. Sudheer, Nanditha, Praveen and Giri performance were appreciated and applauded by audience. The movie started off slowly but picked up to full houses. The movie was actually directed by Maruthi but due to some problem had to put other director’s name. Nanditha should receive an award for her performance and also the comedians Giri and Praveen should also be encouraged by giving good roles in big movies. The movie was made on a budget of 2 crore and collected 20 crores.

6. Venkatadri Express

Venkatadri express is a good example of an entertaining screenplay though routine story. The movie directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and produced by Gemini movies. Sundeep Kishan got his first solo successful movie along with heroine Rakul Preet Singh glamour, Chota K. Naidu camera work, Giri and Thagubothu Ramesh comedy track entertained people.

5. Sahasam

Sahasam starring Gopi Chand and Taapsee occupies position in the top 5. The reason for the position is interesting concept and different taking by director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. The movie shot in Ladakh was shown as Pakistan in the movie was shot with a huge budget of 30 crores. Producer Prasad should be appereciated for his efforts and also camera man Shyam dutt for capturing the locations beautifully. Telugu industry should encourage movies like Sahasam and directors like Yeleti.

4. Swamy Ra Ra

Swamy Ra Ra started as a small movie but ended as a huge blockbuster. With this movie Telugu audience proved they will encourage any movie with different concept and gripping screenplay. The movie provided success to actors Nikhil and Swathi after many years. Debut director Sudheer Varma is going places. The movie is produced by Chakri Chigurupati. Music by Sunny was also received well by audience.

3. Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde

With Gunda Jaari Gallanthayyinde it’s once again proved that Nitin and Nithya Menen is a hit pair. The movie was a huge blockbuster and gave Nitin his second consecutive hit after Ishq. The movie was directed by debut director Vijay Kumar Konda and produced by Nitin’s sister Nikitha Reddy. Music by Anoop Rubens is still a chartbuster. The movie was made with a budget of 6 crore and collected around 60 crores. Screenplay work by HarshaVardhan is best in recent times and Nithya Menen is once again proving she is the best replacement to late legendary actress Soundarya.

2. Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu

SVSC is the first multi starrer after fifteen years and both actors Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh should be appereciated for starting the trend back. When two big stars come together one expect a commercial movie but the director Srikanth Addala came up with a good family subject where one can relate and connect with the characters. Anjali character as seetha, Prakash Raj father character and Jayasudha mother character got good recognition and remembered by audience. Movie was produced by Dil Raju and music by Mickey J. Meyer.

1. Attarintiki Daredi

By this time one must have guessed the top movie of the year, from the last four months only one movie is talked about. The movie was planned to release for Dusheera but due to leakage in the first half of the movie was pre released in September itself. Though part of the movie was released on net turned to be top grosser in Telugu movie industry till now and was the first Telugu movie to get close to 100 crore club. Every technician’s contribution to the movie was best and top class. Pawan Kalyan is not a star anymore; he is a brand and god to his fans. Most of the people in the industry are just using his name to get popular. Trivikram Srinivas concentrated more on script, dialogues and screenplay than on Pawan image and stardom. Samantha provided the required glamour and Pranitha who was earlier considered an iron leg got her first success. Devi’s music was mesmerizing and best in the year. Movie was produced by BVSN Prasad.
