Tollywood film industry suffered major losses in the year 2014 with the shocking deaths of several celebrities including legendary actors like ANR, Anjali, Bapu and Balachander. The year started with the sudden demise of Young Telugu hero Uday Kiran and later many of the stars have passed away in this year from various departments of film making. Music Director Chakri, Telangana Sakuntala, Saikumar’s father PJ Sharma, Nandamuri Janakiram ,Mukkuraju, Director Bhaskar Rao and many others passed away in 2014.
Uday Kiran:
Telugu Young Hero Uday Kiran committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Hyderabad on January 5th (2014) midnight. Uday Kiran was born on January 26, 1980. The actor made his movie debut in 2000 with the film Chitram.
Anjali Devi:
Veteran Actress Anjali Devi died at the age of 86 on 13 January 2014 in Chennai. Anjali was well known to Telugu audience for her role as the mythological Sita in Lava Kusha movie.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao:
Legendary actor Akkineni Nageswararao, who was popularly known as ANR, died on 22 January 2014 after a prolonged illness. He acted in more than 240 films including Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. ANR’s last telugu film was Manam.
Telangana Sakuntala:
Tollywood’s one of the Popular character artist Telangana Sakuntala passed away following a heart attack on June 14, 2014. Telangana Shakuntala enthralled Telugu audience with her villainous and comedy roles in several films.
Mukkuraju:
Tollywood actor Sagiraju Rajamraju, popularly known as Mukku Raju, died on July 31, 2014. He acted in over 1000 movies and got Nandi Award for Best Character Actor in 2008 for his movie 1940 Lo Oka Gramam.
Bapu:
Another great and legendary director Sattiraju Lakshmi Narayana, Who was well known as Bapu, died of cardiac arrest on August 31, 2014. Bapu directed 51 films. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013. He won the national awards twice and the Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards six times.
Janakiram:
Producer Nandamuri Janakiram, son of former MP Harikrishna and brother of hero Kalyan Ram, died in a road accident on December 6, 2014.
PJ Sharma:
Pudipeddi Jogeswara Sarma also well known as PJ Sharma,father of actor Sai Kumar and himself a Telugu actor and dubbing artist, breathed his last on December 14, 2014 due to heart attack.
Chakri:
Popular music director and singer Chakri died of heart attack on December 15, 2014. He was 40. Chakri scored the music for around 100 films. He is survived by wife Sravani.
K Balachander:
Veteran Legendary film director K.Balachander died on December 23, 2014 due to health issuses. Balachander introduced popular actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan to film industry. He directed over 100 movies including Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.
