TDP MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy quits party

HYDERABAD: TDP MLA and former minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy formally resigned from his post and party today.

Srinivas Reddy, who represented Banswada constituency in Nizamabad district, met officiating Speaker Nadendla Manohar in the Assembly and handed over his resignation.

Simultaneously, he submitted his resignation to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu saying he was quitting the party due to it’s ambivalent stand on the Telangana statehood issue.

Pocharam, a minister in Naidu’s cabinet, served as the party’s Nizamabad district president and was elected to the Assembly three times.

"In the last one year it has become very difficult for me to tour my constituency and face the people because of the TDP’s ambivalent stand on Telangana. I had to face many insults from people.

"We are being treated as traitors in the region.(PTI)
