There are a very few who became stars in Telugu film industry without any background. The position is hard to reach and once reached it is very much hard to secure that position and prove mettle the same way with every venture. Vijay Deverakonda is an actor who came to industry as a stranger and became star with his path breaking Arjun Reddy and for his attitude outside the films. Many like his attitude and it gives youth a relatable thing with him. His last film NOTA which marks his debut into Tamil was a disappointment for its content. There was a lot of criticism and many thought that he is going down and he don’t agree with them. He is now coming up with his much delayed “Taxiwala” which got leaked a long time ago. It is releasing into theatres today.

He finds an old car in his budget and use it as a cab. As all is going well he meets Anusha (Priyanka Jawalkar) and falls in love with her. After dropping her off at her hostel, he accidentally finds that the car is possessed by a ghost. Is it really a ghost? What is the story behind that? How Siva Kumar help the ghost?

Cast and performance

Vijay Devarakonda as Siva Kumar is superb. He brings in a lot of believability and relatable feeling to the character with his body language and diction. Priyanka Jawalkar looks good and performs well in the limited time though she don’t get much scope to perform. Malavika Nair is superb and her role is a surprise. Madhunandan and the guy who played the role of Hollywood takes the movie to another level with their humorous sequences. Uttej, Ravi Prakash and other actors are good. Chammak Chandra is very funny throughout his scenes. All other actors has done accordingly.

Verdict

Taxiwala is a story of a science experiment involving death and souls gone wrong due to the bad forces. Director and writer Rahul Sankrityan has done a fantastic job in handling this movie as its plot is very experimental. He, with the help of Saikumar Reddy his screenplay writer has done a fine work in terms of screenplay which lacks the punch towards the end. First half takes up in setting up the plot and its characters and the actual story runs in the second half. The mix of science, supernatural elements and comedy is very well done by the team. This movie has a lot of rofl moments and the talents involved to make this movie has succeeded to an extent in proving talents. Though the rough cut of this movie is leaked a long ago, the experience we get seeing it on big screen with everything done properly is unmatchable by leaked versions. To sum up, Taxiwala is a happily one time watchable film this weekend.
