A case registered against veteran actress Rati Agnihotri and her husband for allegedly stealing electricity worth Rs48.97 lakh.

A case was registered after the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply, and Transport Undertaking (BEST) officials raided their building and found that the actor and her husband had tampered with the electronic meter. After raiding the apartment, they arrived at the police station and registered a case under section 135 of the electricity act.

The police said that Rati and her husband, Anil Virwani, were accused of stealing electricity, amounting up to Rs48.97 lakh, for the past three years. A police officer said, “We have the court’s permission to raid any residential apartment where we suspect something illegal is going on. Our vigilance team found out that something was wrong with their meter, so accordingly with the help of police officials, we raided their apartment at 10.30am on Thursday and reported the matter in the police station. We have learned that they have been doing this since the past three years and the bill amounted to Rs48.97 lakh.”

Legendary director K. Balachander has made many classic films in his hey days. ‘Maro Charithra’ starring Kamal Haasan was one of the most acclaimed movies of all time. Directed by K. Balachander, the film was later remade in Hindi with Kamal Haasan and Bollywood actress Rati Agnihotri playing lead roles. It was titled ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’.

Now, Rati Agnihotri has decided to remake that classic film with her son Tanuj Virvani playing a lead role. Tanuj has already acted in few Hindi films, but he hailed to score a hit. Hence, Rati has taken the responsibility on her shoulders and decided to give her son a big hit with the classic film.

Rati has already acquired the remake rights and she has deployed a team of writers to make changes to the story to suit to this generation of movie lovers. Hope she doesn’t spoil the classic.
