Telugu Person Bags National Award For Best Debut Director

From the past few years, the Telugu films are doing extremely well at the National Awards and that tradition repeated this year as well. Many Telugu films like Mahantai, Awe, Rangasthalam and Chi La Sow bagged awards in some major categories. There is also a Telugu guy who won a national award but for a Marathi film.

He is popular cinematographer Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti who handled the camera work for Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Interestingly, Sudhakar bagged the Indira Gandhi Best Debut Director National Award for his maiden directorial film Naal. 

Naal follows the journey of an eight-year-old boy who explores for motherly love. The movie is beautifully shot and is accompanied by heartwarming performances of all the actors. Sudhakar is currently working as the DOP for Telugu film George Reddy which is slated for the release in a couple of months.

Chiru Predicted The National Awards Result Long Back

Megastar Chiranjeevi always lends his hand of support for the good films that are produced in Telugu Cinema. He did the same for last year’s release Mahanati. After watching the film, he invited the main cast and crew to his home and felicitated them for doing extraordinary work.

At that time itself, Chiru said that the film will bag national awards and it happened to be true. Mahanati was given the best film award in Telugu and actress Keerthy Suresh is conferred with Best actress for her performance in the movie. Chiru congratulated the whole team and recalled that his prediction came true.

Chiru also added that he is happy that Charan’s film Rangasthalam bagged National Award in the best sound mixing category. On the career front, Chiru will be next seen in Syeraa Narasimha Reddy which is slated for the release on the 2nd of October.

Mollywood Bags National Award Glory!

It’s a great day for Malayalam movie industry and its millions of fans as The 61st National Awards have been declared and Mollywood artists have bagged half a dozen of them!

Yes, that’s right – Suraj Venjaaramoodu is the Best Actor this year for his stunning portrayal of a poverty stricken sweeper in the movie Perariyathavar, directed by Dr. Biju. The movie also managed to bag an award for the Best Environmental Film. Suraj shares the honour with another actor, Raj Kumar Rao.

It was not long back that another Malayali comedic actor was awarded the same honour for a dramatic performance – we’re of course talking about Salim Kumar in Aadaaminte Makan Abu.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s elegant movie North 24 Kaatham was declared the Best Malayalam Film. The movie told the journey of a brilliant but obsessive compulsive man to a new perspective on life through his chance encounter and involvement with an old man and a young girl. Fahad Fazil, Nedumudi Venu and Swathi Reddy essayed the roles, respectively.

The artistic couple and pride of Mollywood, Geethu Mohandas and her husband Rajeev Ravi claimed the spotlight too. The platform was the movie Liar’s Dice, directed by Geethu and the cinematography for which was handled by Rajeev. It was Rajeev who bagged the award for Best Cinematographer along with Geethanjali Thapa, declared Best Actress, who played the lead female role in the movie.

And we’re not done yet – Shaji N. Karun’s Swapaanam, starring Jayaram, too bagged an award at the prestigious affair.

Yes, dear Mollywood fans, we can certainly be proud of the fact that our stars seem to shine bright this year not just with glitz and glamour but with raw talent and deserving acclaim as well…
