Delhi Belly has pronounced display of ‘tatti’, and Blackmail has masturbation scene in equal intervals. Similarly, there is crime and confusion in this too. Well, was it as fruitful? Kind of yes.

Blackmail is primarily story of Dev (Irrfan Khan), who is an average Indian whose life is stagnant with a 9-5 job and a bunch of financial commitments. His wife played by Kriti Kulhari is found sleeping with another man, Ranjit (Arunoday Singh) on one fine night. Dev is shocked but being a “seedha-saadha” guy decides to blackmail, instead of getting violent. He blackmails Ranjit. Ranjit is also a married man and the wife is played by Divya Dutta. Dev’s blackmail leads to a chain of blackmails, and what concludes the fate of everyone involved in this mess is the rest of the film.

Blackmail relies entirely on the black comedy and its gray characters. Everyone in the film tries to make hay while the sun shines and that leads to many unexpected twists which work in the favor of the film. The film spends too much time though in establishing the characters and the build-up. There’s hardly any movement in the first hour. Only in the second half that the film takes a leap and starts becoming racy. The frequent act of masturbation gets annoying after a point. In the film, Irrfan jerks off on the pictures of his women colleaguesin the office.

Irrfan of course is the show stealer of the film. No one could play the mango man like him. The frustration coupled with powerlessness is enacted greatly by him. He always gives a new meaning to subtlety. Another who stood neck-to-neck is Divya Dutta playing the drunk dominating wife. She was terrific too.Arunoday and Kriti Kulhari play their roles with panache too. Supporting characters like Omi Vaidya (3 Idiots fame), went overboard sometimes. Some dialogues were intended to be funny but do not tickle the funny bone.

The movie’s production values are a bit off. The movie needed a better cinematography. Amit Trivedi’s music score helps the film.

There are some moments which a common-salaried-man would relate to in the film. There’s a scene where Irrfan doesn’t ask a ransom. but just enough to clear off his debts and loans and just clear his financial commitments.

The movie, however might cater to only those who have a thing for dark comedies. Some moments are very raw and some disgraceful scenes are projected as casual.

All in all, a watchable dark comedy.

Finally, Irrfan Khan, the Bollywood actor opened up about the disease that he is suffering from. The Hindi actor who was also seen in the Telugu film Sainikudu said that he has Neuro Endocrine Tumour. He is leaving the country for the further treatment.

Few days ago, it was learnt that Irrfan Khan has been diagnosed with a severe case of jaundice. Irrfan, who was set to leave for Chandigarh to shoot for his Amazon Prime series had to stay back to receive appropriate treatment. He was amidst the promotions for his next release, ‘Blackmail’, has been prescribed bed rest.

But twist to the tale is, Irrfan Khan said that he is suffering from a rare disease and will share details when there is a conclusive diagnosis. In a Twitter post, Irrfan Khan said he and his family were jolted by the knowledge of his illness, and requested his fans and followers not to speculate about his health.

Irrfan wrote “Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week – ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me.”

It is also learnt that director Vishal Bhardwaj, who was scheduled to begin the shoot of his next, starring Irrfan and Deepika Padukone, postponed the filming of the project citing health concerns of his lead actors.

Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan is in the news now. The Bollywood actor has been served a notice by the municipal corporation for unauthorized constructions at his fifth-floor flat in the same Goregaon building. This controversy has been in the news since 2014 when complaints regarding unauthorized constructions were received by the P-south ward office of the BMC. In the past several notices were served by the officials but the developer approached the city civil court and was granted an interim relief.

But now, the court has sent notices to the actor and few other residents of the building. The media, when tried to approach the actor for his comment on the issue, has received no reply from his spokesperson. Filmmaker and activist Ashoke Pandit has been working hard to win this as he repeatedly put the requests to the officials to stop the unauthorized construction.

During a recent question and answer session at a promotional show, Irrfan Khan was asked in jest, “Whom would he like to kidnap, date and work with in Bollywood?.”

Irrfan Khan admitted that, “I would kidnap Kangana and then select roles and movies of my choices for her, I would like to date Deepika and I would like to work with both of them.”

Acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan’s upcoming film ‘Madaari’ has been postponed from July 15th to July 22nd.

Film’s producer Vashu Bhagnani took this call after the makers of ‘Great Grand Masti’ requested him. ‘Madaari’ was earlier slated for release on June 10 but to avoid the clash with Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Te3n,’ the film was postponed then. Now, to give a free path for ‘Great Grand Masti’, ‘Madaari’, which explores father-son relation, has been postponed again.

This development was the result of ‘Great Grand Masti’ getting preponed owing to leak a few days ago. Starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Urvashi Rautela and Shraddha Das, the adult comedy film is the third part in the hit ‘Masti’ series. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film is expected to open big on 15th July thanks to the adult content, hit formula and the presence of super sexy Urvashi Rautela, the Miss Universe Contestant.

Jazbaa Review: Go Green with maternal instinct

This Aishwarya Rai Bachchan comeback film is a mix of good and bad. With Shabana Azmi walking away from the film like a protagonist. The film is high on maternal instinct, has a good twist, but the scriptwriters spoiled it with cheesy dialogues and bad plot.

The film is good in parts and there are sequences where the camera work and the acting reach heightened crests. But there are too many troughs that make the graph look bad overall. Irrfan Khan has a good role but too many 90s dialogue-baazi. The films meanders slowly and sometimes too slowly. There will be parts where the over-acting and over-dramatization becomes unbearable and you’d want to walk away. But why sit through? The almost predictable twist and the desire to see what becomes of this adaptation of Korean film- Seven Days.

Star Performances:

To begin with, seeing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after almost 5 years on the big screen is the luring factor. But then there will be times that you wanna shut your eyes, seeing those gorgeous eyes bulging out on the screen. She plays a mother who is a damn good lawyer. But the flow of emotions is overwhelming. To see it from a mother’s point of view, some parts stand justifiable. But overall, the performance is powerful and dramatic at the same time.

Irrfan Khan, the actor is good in the film. But there will be times, you’d not want him to bombard you with any more of his dialogues too. The script had it, he had to say it. But his craft was good.

Taking the film to great lengths is veteran Shabana Azmi. With a brilliant act, she is the savior of the film. Her role and only her role is scripted well and to the optimum level. With poised acting and years of experience, Shabana paints the green-screen with her own shades.
Chandan Roy Sanyal is good as the crazy man, but goes overboard too. Siddanth Kapoor has a brief role and that is done well. Jackie Shroff in his less screen-time, adds volumes and doesn’t over-act.

Technicalities:

The film is all green and has oodles of maternal instincts. We have no issues with maternal instincts but the green is too much on the eyes. The makers attempted something new with the color scale. Oh wait! No, that’s basically Sanjay Gupta’s favorite color. But now it is time, he should try adding the green-touch to his film. Didn’t we have too much in the past already?

From the script standpoint, the film is a just average and it falls weak at many junctures. But somehow the ship doesn’t sink, all thanks to Shabana Azmi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. A lot of hype was created during the promotions and filming and it doesn’t live upto that craze, but simply fares average.
The music album is a mix of tracks and thankfully the songs aren’t thrown at your face but only available for commercial purpose. The film has good concept but failed in terms of linear plot.

Watch or not:

It is a mixed bag. If you can stand till post interval, then watch it for Shabana Azmi’s sake. But if you have given up before the interval, that’s understandable too. But one watch is suggested. Nevermind the dialogues. So watch with a lot of patience to see what comes of rapists and molesters when a mother decides to take matters in her own hand.

Top Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who won the hearts of audiences and box office with her recent films like ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, is currently learning horse riding for her role in her upcoming film ’Rangoon’, in the direction of National Film Award Winning director Vishal Bharadwaj.

Speaking to media, Kangana said that she will become a champion horse rider in next two months as she has been practicing horse riding for the past two months when she doesn’t have film shoots.

‘Rangoon’ has Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles.

The star we know for acting finesse and immense charm, Irrfan Khan, who is a delight whenever he is on screen, is quite kicked about his onscreen character, from Jurassic World, being a part of an International Game. The Indian pride is known for his Hollywood roles too, and will be seen in two versions of the game that are soon going to make their way into the markets. His character is Simon Masrani the dynamic owner of the park in Jurassic World is a part of the Franchise video game.

A source close to Irrfan says, “There would be two versions of the game that has been developed by the team at LEGO and Irrfan’s character would be part of both the games. The first being a character game and the other being a video game. This is a huge thing as both the games will be launched at an international level.”

Irrfan who is garnering reviews and applauses for his last release ‘Qissa’ said, “I am quiet kicked about this development and am looking forward to how well the game would be received.”

On the International front Irrfan has Ron Howard’s Inferno, where he would be seen sharing the screen space with legendary actor Tom Hanks.

We have been ardently waiting for the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s comeback upon the silver screen, and we know that ‘Jazbaa’ is the film marking her comeback. With a speculative male lead, and many names were cropping up in the same regard, we finally have some clarity in terms of the male lead.

Talented actor Irrfan Khan is all set to romance the very beautiful lady in Jazbaa. Yes! That’s right. Aish will be seen in a strong role of a lawyer and her male lead will be played by Irrfan Khan. He will be seen in the role of a suspended cop.

The action thriller has got us intrigued and we are really looking forward to seeing the two fresh faces come together. Plus both the actors are brilliant individually and together we just expect them to create magic!
